Punggol reminds me of my time in Australia, where the natural beauty is breathtaking. The main issue is that there aren't enough facilities; it's unpleasant when residents are constantly crowded in the same commercial places. When I visited food chains like McDonald's & Burger Kings, I always encountered the same employees and customers, which is weird.
Very experienced MP and very well spoken. Can sense the passion when he talks about things related to his job. After 13 years in his job he can still speak so passionately about it.
I knew it was Dr Janil when u 1st spoke to him! Too cute that u not only find a fren but had a gd day with MP, Dr Janil upon finding out he's our MP❣️🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is such a awesome video! Thank you for your hard work :) We are going to visit Singapore this fall and most of our itinerary will be inspired by your videos. Thank you for that. Greeting from Prague
If you crave for tranquility, greenery and plenty of nature, then this is probably the best neighborhood to live in imho. Id say it’s definitely a very well-planned young neighbourhood. If you love nature, cycling or jogging, it’s really heaven. Plus Waterway point is one of the most comfortable malls around NEL area. Way better than Compass One or Nex to be frank! 👍🏻 Nicely done video.
Really enjoyed watching another video about Punggol, thanks for sharing! Can't wait to make my move to my new place just diagonally across from the upcoming vibrant Punggol Digital District and within easy reach of picturesque Coney Island. Hope to bump into you someday!
I cycled there a couple of times before, it’s a place unlike many parts of Singapore. Singapore is a small country but yet I was pleasantly surprised to discover this beautiful place. Kinda has the vibes of pasir ris when it first started. Also jealous of their mall cos it has Donki and even a late night cinema!
I'm not sure exactly how many branches they have nowadays but a lot of places have donki now. They've been expanding quite fast I think. The funneh thing is despite singapore being "small" if you look at the population its actually pretty big compared to other places which might be more indicative.
1:25 ... actually not. The oldest mall is Punggol Plaza there...20+ years I think, from the beginning of the first few flats and there was really nothing else there. :)
A young family recently bought a flat here by the waterway. When i visited them, i said, son you have make a right choice. Try make full use of the facilities...can ride, jogg or walk for miles alone the Punggol Waterway Park Connector.
Great to see Punggol transformed so much. It is so much different from what I remember when I was still in Singapore 15 years ago. Singapore is really making a fast progress.

Ghibsan, please explore local hobbies and communities in SG such as mountain biking , road biking, tango and even kendo. It’d be good to know how singaporeans enjoy their R&R
Punggol End changed alot the past years. I missed the creepy, forested, long 2-way road & the stable where the horses were. You can touch and feed the pony, as well. Loved that nature aura, somehow air is very fresh. It is healing place, best part it is very near to home. A couple of times, rented bikes to cycle in Coney Island. Frequented there alot, last time. Now, very seldom. Maybe, its just me, that nature feel is less now, than what it was, years back. Jetty is renovated new now, but I prefer, the old one - don't know why 🤗 You can visit Tebing Lane too; but I have a feeling you have been there before 🤣

You are good at what you do Ghib. Intelligently presented videos and you ve captured the Spore scene and culture well for a non Singaporean. Well done.

Ghib, you got the best person to bring you around Punggol. Dr Janil has been with us since punggol first started. He is a hardworking and heartwarming MP we are proud to have.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't actually staged. Getting keys to my bto there this year, and we had a block orientation thing at one punggol plaza. We did not expect MP janil to show up and be the guy who is actually talking through all the slides of the presentation and welcoming residents - we thought it would be a hdb staff or professional emcee. But MP janil took the whole afternoon across many batches of presentations for various blocks
I don't think a MP will have such free time to show someone (1 person) around their constituency for half a day. Just because you unexpectedly saw your MP for mall opening doesn't mean anything - I'm sure his calendar would have been scheduled/blocked for such an activity.
When Ghib mentioned that Waterway is the oldest mall in Punggol, it dawned on me that it's been 8 years since it opened. I just moved to Punggol back then and it was literally the ONLY mall in Punggol (We don't talk about Punggol plaza). I still remember vividly when it first opened along with the Punggol Waterway Park, there were even fireworks during the opening night! I've moved out of Punggol since due to the overcrowding situation but I really do miss my time there.

I live in Pasir Ris, heard about all the new stuff in Punggol and tried to make a visit. However I was surprise how far it is even though we are the same GRC. It took half an hour or more to reach Punggol! Can't wait for the MRT to connect.
Punggol is like a resort town, those who criticise punggol are just simply jealous. Many of my waterway cascadia neighbour sold their flats for at least $250k to $350k profits. Numbers dont lie. I'm not entirely sure when but. From my understanding once the terminal 5 is complete in 2030-2040 the airbase will be relocated. But yeah until then nothing can be done about the jets taking off.
I think part of the thing is the residents themselves feel like they're sort of in their own island because its really inconvenient for them to actually leave punggol as well.
are you been sponsored? remember to mention yo 😏
are you sponsored to make this video?
Wow. Imagine if you really just bumped into a MP and he brings you around…..
Haha meeting the MP seems staged 😂
So this is basically a propaganda video? I mean no MP would purposely spend so much time with you unless it is advantageous to them

I just moved out of Punggol and it’s the best decision of my life.
But why?
so now where you stay ?

1.) lots of never ending roadworks, look at the road conditions after they fill up the works, and next thing you see they start digging again.
2.) waited forever for lifts at lobby
3.) noisy fighter jets flying, need to wait till 2030 for Paya Lebar airport to move out? It’s ok I’ll move out first.
4.) tons of reckless motorists speeding
5.) crowded, crowded, crowded
6.) heavy traffic during peak hours
7.) basic everyday food taste like primary school food, only 1 hawker centre and it’s not cheap. Drinks monopolized by 1 operator only. You want nice tasting food? Prepare to pay $80 and above.
1. Roadworks occur everywhere else. I stayed in Jurong and Pasir Ris. And there is constant road works.
2. Matter of perception. Long for you may not be long for others. Too personal of an opinion.
3. Staying in the east is like that. No one forced anyone to stay in the east. It’s something that comes with living here.
4. Personal opinion again. Reckless motorists are everywhere.
5. Have you seen Tampines? Jurong East? Sembawang? Vivocity?
6. Heavy traffic during peak hours… pretty normal… I mean… it is peak hours right?
7. Monopoly of drinks…. Isn’t that the de facto standard of almost alll food courts and kopitiams in Singapore?
