Huge, huge respects to Mr Guek (or Mr Doraemon 😆) as well as to all the bus captains in Singapore! I really cannot imagine waking up that early, let alone doing it for years and years! Admittedly, sometimes I feel bad when I get annoyed that the bus I'm waiting for arrives slow/late...this video really is a reminder and a wake-up call to me (and perhaps others) to be more mindful and considerate of our bus capts, for afterall they're humans too. Thanks to Ghib as well for showing this side of SG that we don't get to see in our daily lives 😊
My dad is a sbs driver who has been working for 35yrs taking care of us 3 siblings sole breadwinner. Is really respect and not easy. Thank u for showing this. Pls be nice to the drivers. My dad got verbally abused during covid times when asking passenger to wear a mask.
A great report. I'm a bus driver in Sydney Australia (we're called Bus Operators). The depot I operate from has around 600 buses, there are another 15 depots in Sydney. I love the job, except Sydney traffic! Your report shows a very similar operation to us in Sydney with a 24/7 operation! Well done on this report!
I am a bus driver in Switzerland and have been driving for 23 years and 1 month now. I wish we had the relaxing working atmosphere here as the bus captains have in Singapore. Hats off to Singapore for having such an amazing work environment. Best wishes and good health to all the bus captains in Singapore. Our company and many others could learn alot from just watching this video.
Love this! Such a down to earth and genuine father, serving the public with a sense of purpose. Probably one of the most essential jobs in the country. You keep it up, Mr Doraemon!
Thank you very much Ojisan for featuring this interview with our bus drivers❤ Yes, we know their job is not easy too & we really appreciate their service & really respect them👍👍👍 Thank you to all captains in Singapore for all your service👍👍👍
Ojisan has strategically move away from makan video to documentary about Singapore. Very wise move since viewers can relate to such documentary. Ojisan is the new Steven Chia but younger. Love this documentary. Thanks you SBS bus captains.
I remembered one bus driver who had a stomach upset and it was an Express bus. He stopped at the last bus stop before the nonstop route, i felt bad for him and reminded myself how difficult it is for them during this kind of situation.
Bus captains are the everyday heroes we need to appreciate. Thank you for this eye opening and heart warming video. Good luck Mr. Doraemon. Awesome work Ghib-san team!
Thank you for your service Mr Guek! I was fortunate enough to have many bus captains help me to board the bus in my wheelchair in the 14 years that I lived in Singapore. I salute all of you!
High regard for our hardworking bus captains. Kudos to Ghib for making this video. Safety checks, first aid and fire fighting are part of a bus captain's responsibilities. Never take them for granted again. Respect to Mr Quek and all bus captains ❤
Thank you for the illuminating and insightful video. Kudos to the host for being respectful while also asking some really good questions! Glad MOT gave you access to film at areas the public is typically not privy to so we can all better appreciative the captains’ service and dedication to running our beloved buses!
Thank you for this. As a frequent traveler to SG it makes me appreciate our Bus Captains more. Greet them everytime you enter and thank them if we can before getting off. Safely driving us to our destination everytime. Thank you Mr. Doraemon. With the many buses, I hope to catch your bus one day when I come back to SG (with the correct route) 😊
I have huge respects for bus captains. They bring us safely to our destinations and in total comfort. Mr Guek is a good bus captain and thanks for advising us not to run after the bus haha. I am guilty of that and now I won't do it because it is for my safety. I am a senior citizen. Thank you Ghib-san and all the bus captains for serving us.
Ever since I was a kid, I always dreamt of becoming a bus driver. I remember the days of SBS buses in the 80s, with the bus driver manually shifting gears and all that. So fascinating! This is one of the more interesting "day in a life" videos I've seen on YT.
we always take service captains for granted. and i hope as we developed in a more inclusive society we will treasure them greater. in terms of pay and working conditions. I salute and grateful!
I always greet Bus Captains whenever I board the bus. And if possible, when the bus is not crowded, I will wave at them when I alight. I have great respect for all the Bus Captains out there.
Sorry but I beg to differ, at least for respect for the Japanese drivers. When i traveled in Japan, the bus service and drivers are impressive and on another level compared to Singapore. At least in Tokyo and Kyoto. Utmost respect.
Awesome insight to our Bus Captain , Thank You for sharing and make me feel safe and proud to be transporting in our public transport. Maybe do one channel on MRT ?
0:27 When you put 46 next to his name I thought for a moment that was bus number that he drives and found it a funny way to introduce someone But I am so happy he enjoys his job. He truly is playing such an important role in keeping the entire country's system running. And his mindset is absolutely on point
This is just the best advert to become a Singaporean bus driver. Having been a bus driver here, in Sydney, I can vouch that not all bus drivers are as calm, cool and collected as this guy. The similarities between the two countries though were remarkably similar.
Nice cover of an oft taken-for-granted service provided. Unfortunately, there are some with bad attitude and/or driving behaviour BUT to all the responsible and diligent captains, THANK YOU!
Very meaningful video, as a passenger I learn that a bus captain’s job is NOT EASY. He had to multi task and sometimes deal with rude passengers. Mr Kwek here has an awesome personality , thanks Ghib for this video! 👍
I was a Bus Driver for 12 yrs in the UK until Ill health made me finish driving Large vehicles, I enjoyed it immensly , only downside was the hours, we had to work different shifts everyday, one day may have been a 04.15 and finish at 11.10hrs , start the next day maybe a 14.00 start and finish at 21.00hrs so a social life was awkward, luckily I had an understanding girlfriend!!
Really not easy to work in the service industry in SG! Very long hours and less time spend with family members. I work in the tech sector and already tired after 9-5 job 5 days a week.
Salute to the bus captains in Singapore, thank you for your service to the community, such an amazing star shining , Ojisan this is such a great video, appreciate your time waking up at 2.40 to shoot this 😊
Appreciate all the transport workers everywhere, and of course Mr Guik and the bus captains of SG. I'll never forget all the the kindness they showed me when I asked a ton of questions like "what's the most scenic bus route" and "How do I report a lost NETS card" (I thought I lost it, but I just left it at my friend's place in a rush.) It takes some patience to do the job with safety and service in mind, please remember that when you step aboard on your next journey!
Even though I don't live in SG anymore, I found this so interesting! It made me reflect on the lives of bus drivers everywhere and how every country would have different systems for their drivers. It's nice they get a breakfast provided too. Thank you for making this video Ghib - hope to see more day in the life videos in the future.
I always change buses at the stop closest to the bus depot in Frankfurt, Germany. I always talk to the bus drivers while waiting. I have heard all kinds of interesting stories. from them having to reanimate a passenger, to sorting out conflicts between passengers, to figuring out where the parents of a lost child were. One driver told me he accidentally was in the middle of a police chase. They were all super nice. Yesterday I talked to a lady who works in the cafeteria of the bus depot. She is originally from Vietnam and since many of the bus drivers are from so many different countries, the cafeteria always cooks different international meals. She told me that she loves learning to cook not only German, but also Turkish, Moroccan, Indian, Polish, or Persian dishes for example. She also sometimes cooks Vietnamese food. I love it when so many people from different places embrace each other’s cultures and cuisines. It’s so much better to learn from each other than to hate each other

Yes. It’s so hard Bec bus captains just doing their job but get abused or even assaulted at times. Not fair to them!
Singapore law is the problem
Bus Captain is respectable, i admire their training. How i wish they do it in my country. So decent at that.
Delivering kids to school on time!......LOVE this driver who has compassion and foresights
Love this, the bus uncle is so down to earth and can really tell that he enjoys what he does! More series like these please!
As a Singaporean bus enthusiast, I appreciate you for uploading this video!
I am a bus driver in Switzerland and have been driving for 23 years and 1 month now. I wish we had the relaxing working atmosphere here as the bus captains have in Singapore. Nay,Europe more relaxed and less stressed
Amazing mentality from the bus captain. We “get to” do it instead if we “have to” do it. Thumbs up!!👍👍👍
It's his privilege.
Love this! Such a down to earth and genuine father, serving the public with a sense of purpose. Probably one of the most essential jobs in the country. You keep it up, Mr Doraemon!
Such a positive attitude and energy from Mr Guek, thanks Ojisan for making this video!
Thank you Ghib for bringing the bus captains into the light. Salute to all of them!!!

Huge thank you to all the bus captains that work tirelessly every day to ferry us to our destinations! 👍
Thank you for the illuminating and insightful video. Kudos to the host for being respectful while also asking some really good questions! Really loving this ep! Not everyday you get to see our dear bus drivers with their daily tasks.
Ok thank you for all Singapore drivers out there we appreciate your hard work
Eye opening video. Waking up at 6am is already difficult for me. 2,3am?! That’s impossible for me 😂 Kudos to these unsung heroes of our daily lives.
When you realise the driver for the employee bus wakes up even earlier than the other bus captains
@@nazunasapostle1stapostleof755What about the bus driver for the employee bus driver?
I wake up at 3am every day lol 😅just sleep early at 9pm 😆
Thanks you bus captains for your hard work everyday
I have the utmost respect for public bus drivers and train drivers who gets up before the crack of dawn when most of us are still in dreamland.
This driver got a very positive energy. love the video.

Love this documentary of our SG bus uncle. Now I finally understand why they sometimes they don’t open the door for me 🤣 It all makes sense now. 😆
Which part of the vid? I think I missed it.
😂
I like it that they call themselves Bus captain, not driver. It makes the profession sound more meaningful which it is indeed.
Really enjoyed this video showing the everyday life of bus captain! Thank you
Hi Ojisan, please do more videos like this. It's so enriching to watch! Thanks for the vidz 😊
Thank you! Will do!
this is a fantastic video ghib!! bus captains are so underappreciated
Awesome coverage ! Another level of respect for them!
Hey Ghib, you did a better job helping us understand the job of our bus captains than CNA! Great vid!
Thanks to our Mr. Doraemon and many bus captains who provide the smooth journey for many of us ❤
Wooow, this brings back fond memories as I worked in both AMK and Soon Lee depot decade ago. Successful TH-camr has special privilege (to access).
Very interesting video. Been always so curious about how our bus captains live and work!
Glad you enjoyed it!

日本のバス運転士です。
車種や制服は違うけど、やっている事、考えている事は同じですね!
お互い安全運転で頑張りましょう!
Sorry but I beg to differ, at least for respect for the Japanese drivers. When i traveled in Japan, the bus service and drivers are impressive and on another level compared to Singapore. At least in Tokyo and Kyoto. Utmost respect.

This hour of the day in Singapore is quiet and peaceful, very nice indeed! 🥱🥱
