I'll keep complaining and it will probably only get worse as I age. As an adult I discovered I'm a thermophile and I hate the west-European "temperate" climate I grew up in. Even mild cold (like a bottle of beer at 6°C) feels like pain, and I'm comfortable in heat and humidity that practically the entire world complains about (typical example, summer in Tokyo, 30°C 80%RH)

Lowest temperature I experienced here in Alberta, Canada is around -40°C to -45°C. I barely survived outside so I stay indoors. I couldn't imagine living in a place where it hits -70° and work and school still goes on. Big props to the people of Yakutsk!
The problem is that in fact this channel is Kremlin propaganda. Between showing freezing cold interesting views and facts it sneaks in false info like "government helps" "yakutians live very good", "slavic people and yakutians live togeter" "yakutians are rich in..." . You can read Russians talk about about it on Reddit. Yakutians with their problems not solved by government do not like this channel. Wasn't suspicious for you this channel has millions views from first video? No real organic grown channel has that.
I live in Russia and I know there isn't -70 in Yakutsk every winter. It was at once many years ago. Yes, it is -50 every winter in Yakutia, but not -70. It is not true.
@@atelophobicLia yeah it does not say here but there is another video on her channel called "One Day in the Coldest Village on Earth −71°C (−95°F) | Yakutia, Siberia" where it says that below -54C the school closes. That's in a village tho, dunno if that applies to Yakutsk aswell
“However, it’s important to remember that not everyone is like that. Many residents are hardworking people who simply can’t afford to move to a newer, more comfortable place. Despite the challenges, they stay and do their best to make a life here.” That empathy she has. It’s worth its weight in gold 🥰🥰
Not a coldest city, but okay. For us humans (and other lifeforms) is not the worst the temperature, but humidity. There is almost none in Yakutsk. So basically there are much more "colder" places in the world, like in Europe or Canada. Dry air is almost perfect insulant, so there is no problem with the cold. It is like be in space (-270 degrees Celsius) but there are no frostbites and no feel of cold. Vacuum is insulant. Dry air is almost perfect thermo-insulant, wet air is not.
As a Norwegian who lived in mid-Norway, the worst cold I’ve ever experienced was -42*C (I’m too young to have experienced colder), and that was crazy. Schools were all shut. All but essential roads and transport was shut down, and people were told to stay inside or go to a shelter that could keep them warm. Emergency services were available to deliver space heaters and firewood if needed. It was absolutely insane! So when you said it was -48*C, and that it was a usual winter day, I was blown away. Without serious infrastructure, it is basically impossible. Thank you for sharing your experience! 😊
Hi, question from somewhere who lives mainly in warm to hot weather: do you have cattle in Norway? Or 🐑? Or any other animal that requires to stay outdoors? And if so, do you keep them safe under extreme conditions? Sorry for my ignorance.
@@candiceb_mat Yeah, we have cattle and sheep in Norway. I believe they’re more common in the slightly warmer regions of Norway, like more Southern areas or along the Atlantic coastline. However, driving on rural roads, especially over some mountains, you will often find sheep grazing all around and laying on the warm asphalt on the road. I am no farmer, so my knowledge is limited, but I’m pretty sure cattle are kept quite close to a heated barn house during the winter months, if not inside one. Sheep are also often moved down from the mountains in the autumn and into the warmer valleys and (I assume) inside when the coldest months hit. I believe they’re mostly sheered in Spring, so the thick coat of wool helps then stay warm throughout most of late autumn and winter. In the colder regions (such as the North or in cold spots), goats are often kept instead, as they are much more used to the cold than a domesticated sheep or cow, and produce both milk and wool (though much less than cows or sheep alone). And of course, in the far North, cattle and sheep tend to be replaced by reindeer herding, mainly done by the indigenous Samii people. A very intriguing question! Thanks for asking. May I ask which country you’re from? Stay curious 😊
@thegamerpokemon5767 I'm from Argentina, i live in the northern region, which limits with Brazil, so it's a subtropical climate. Sometimes, our winters present days of 30° Celsius. Very interesting everything you have explained. And thank you for the amount of details. 😊😊
BTW it's not so cold in central European Russia. The lowest I remember was -33°C once in ~1995-96 and they cancel the school lessons, so my trip to school was redundant. Occasionally it drops just to -28-29°C for a day or two.
This video made me wonder about the history of this region. Who were the first people to start living there, how did they go there, why they chose to start a life there.. It also made me think the world is huge and all lands can be inhabited wow! Humans are amazing!
I once broke a phone because it stayed in my pocket for too long and I was outside for hours during winter (Montreal Canada). I don't even understand how their phone don't break in this cold lol

@Hereafterisreal Internet access in India isn't entirely free for the end user, but there are affordable plans and initiatives like public Wi-Fi hotspots and programs aimed at increasing accessibility. However, data costs and network availability can still be barriers for some.
Except for the furs.... in the Western world that kind of clothing is considered almost a crime. Well, Russian people are not exactly famous for their respect of human rights, animal ones are apparently even less considered.
@@daniele8716 talking about animals rights while munching a burger will never not be funny. As long as animal is killed for practical value and not amusement, it is okay, unless you are vegan. Lots of you tubers have visited Yakutsk but it's good to have a video from a local resident who knows the city and can show us the less seen districts, thank you so much.
I am from Kenya. I never experienced what snow & extreme cold feel like. All I know is hot weather & slightly cold temperatures of 15 degrees during cold days. I am amazed at how the human body can adapt to such extreme conditions. I wonder if I could be able to survive in yakutsk.
You will. I worked with some Sudanese immigrants in North Dakota USA which is one of the coldest States ever 😂 it's literally like sometimes -40 there. They just were wearing parkas carrying on with their life 😂❤
This morning it was -3 C in London, UK and I thought that was quite bad. But after watching this video tonight, and seeing all their challenges, I am grateful for my circumstances.
At what point does it become hubris though? There are so many extra steps and workarounds needed in this kind of environment, it's really quite inefficient and energy-intensive to live in places like this. Climate change is also ruining the world and it will be the final straw in making large portions of the planet physically uninhabitable, because if they were already challenging now, then they cannot sustain life going forward.
Just incredible. You should have a tv series in National Geographic. Excellent quality. I especially appreciate you all taking the time to visit the poorer areas of the city, and show a well rounded perspective. You got a subscriber!
I am from Italy. I lived in Moscow for 4 years when I was younger. Minus 15-20 degrees felt extreme to me in the beginning, but once I got used to it, I started feeling energised by the frosty weather. Not at all times, for example not when I was tired from work or sad, but when I was happy and I would get hit by a storm of frosty snow, I would feel weirdly energised. I can't quite describe the feeling, but I haven't experienced it again since I left. Kinda missing it. Thank you for your informative and detailed video. You made an interesting collection of moving pictures of your homeland. You're well spoken and honest. Wish you all the best!
I stayed in a himalayan village for 4 months in the extreme winter of 2012. I felt the same. I love and enjoy cold weather, because i am basically from southern part of India where the average temparature would be 30-35 (above zero) degree celsius and maximum it can reach up to 45.
@@Sriramlivz oh! Winter in an himalayan village! Sounds very cool! how come you dediced to go there? In summer we can get esily up to 35 and last summer in some parts of shouthern Italy there was 48 degrees, but that was an extreme situation, it's not the norm
@@purplestringsmariamichelac3391 48 degrees?OMG! I never knew it can get that much hot in Italy. How about the humidity there?. We have 80 to 90 % humidity most of the time here since i live in a coastal area. I have 3 childhood friends from the locals. They came to our place to study(9th grade) for a year in our school. So we became best buddies. They invited me to their place and their family treated me as i am one of their family member, quite overwhelmed. I dont know their regional language (can manage a little bit😀). But still they made me comfortable. we even managed to trek on the highest peak in the outer himalayan ranges.
@Sriramlivz I know, it was crazy 🤣 we never knew either it could get that hot! Maybe in Sicily it might have happened before, but not everywhere in Italy. About humidity: the southern you go, the better it gets, but the North (where I live) is very humid, so in the summer it feels hotter than it actually is and in the winter it feels colder than it is. At this very moment in my town humidity is 99%. It's because early in the morning (it's 6:30) it's very foggy.

@Peepopoopee I am from Canada and I can tell you that the recorded temperatures do not factor in the "feels like" temperature with the windchill. For example... the weather forecast will say that it's -19 but the windchill makes it -27. My weather app shows both but the forecast will only mention the temperature not factoring in the wind

I tried to be extremely mindful of frostbite and came out ok. some of the other homeless around me were not so lucky. that's just in western new York state USA where the coldest part of the winter (Jan & Feb) could go into the negatives here and there, but never -50 !! I admire the grit and resiliency of the Yakutian locals, especially the sellers at the market in other video, I just cannot imagine myself walking in this kind of cold. I'm over in sask. The cold sucks, but how about that wind? I was working outside one week and it was -41c one day with no wind. Next day was warmer at -39c but with a nasty wind making it feel like -51c. I wanted to quit my job! 😅
I’m from italy, i could never survive in that cold weather but its interesting to see how strong and prepared the siberian ppl are. love watching ur vids😊
My mom lived half her life in Kiev Ukraine where it gets quite cold. It often gets below zero. I don't know if it's the wind we have here in Genova but she got used to our weather so fast she can't handle the cold. My dad from southern italy hates that kind of weather with a burning passion. If he could he'd live on the tippy top of a mountain alone in the cold. I on the other hand hate the annoying wind in my city. I mean a week ago or so we had 100km/h wind in the city at night. Knocked down a few trees and damaged a car. What a lovely place to be living in.
Just so you know, the title is exaggerated. If you look at any weather app, the average temperature of Yakutsk in the winter is between -27 and -40. Still cold yeah, but I don’t know why the author feels the need to lie about the temperature. There’s no need for it.

It was 47°C in outback New South Wales, Australia today as the start of a temporary heatwave has begun. It is amazing to hear about the extremes of temperatures around the world. Stay warm and safe.
@ yes - it tends to be a dry heat in southern Australia. The more north you go in summer the more humidity. My preference is to enjoy the milder summers in Melbourne and the perfect winters ( 27 degrees C most of the time) during winter up north ( ie Cairns and Port Douglas). I wouldn’t like to live up there in the summer ( the wet season ) due to the heat & high humidity. British expats seem to prefer Perth on the west coast. It has a dry heat with an afternoon sea breeze ( caller the Fremantle doctor)
@@XxAtomic646xX In the outback humidity is very low but when it hits the 40s in Sydney or Brisbane the humidity can sometimes be higher than 90%. Dry heat is more comfortable, but is more dangerous for those without a good supply of drinking water. High humidity makes one feel like they wish to be in Russia's -71°C, even for a short time.

It is not true.
below -50 or -55 the schools are closed in yakutia, they are strong, but not stupid!
@@dragunov87 oh. Thanks for the info. Basing on the video, I thought it would go down to -70 every winter. But glad they close schools during -50.
I was having a shitty day but I have a new sense of gratitude.

Absolutely! I have tried filming in mountains - the camera batteries die out so fast. Kudos to the team.

Thank you so very much for your time, energy and tenacity!!!

I’ve always wondered who does the filming, so we thank you both for giving us this perspective and also risking your health for your viewers. Also cover your face we don’t want you to get sick!!!
Being from the uk i cant even begin to comprehend the severity of the challenges faced by the local poppulation due to the cold. A really great short film showing the challenges !
It was 47°C in outback New South Wales, Australia today as the start of a temporary heatwave has begun. It is amazing to hear about the extremes of temperatures around the world. Stay warm and safe.
Sydneysider here, was dying at 40c! Can't imagine how hot it must be out bush! 47 is mental lol. All the best, mate
@@MarioGoatse. Last time it was 47 Degrees C in Melbourne we had bushfires that claimed 138 lives.
often gets 109f in texas but with 90% humidity with a "real feel" of 120f+. is your air dry?
I bet those kids are tough as nails to the cold... Brings a new meaning to what our grandfather's told us here in north America about having to walk to school in the cold.
-40 мне довелось испытать, но вот ниже - это уже перебор. Учиться доводилось с ребятами с Якутии. А вам спасибо за видео. Хороший оператор да и ведущая - красавица.
Thank you for the amazing video. Greetings from fellow Turkic people in Uzbekistan. We love Yakutia.
I’m watching from the relative warm comfort of my bedroom and my body is involuntarily shivering from seeing the cold in Yakutsk
Weird comment

If you get a chance, check out a few webcams from Fairbanks
I have 2 fur coats and it's incredible how warm they keep me. They are hand me downs from my grandmother. I put one on for the first and couldn't believe it; no layers but warm even in extreme cold. Much better than any other cold weather coat.
I'm just 17. I found your channel few days back and I'm proud of you elder sister that you survive so heartily in such a harsh weather.... even you film in such conditions to let us know that how much courage people have out there. Salute to you and your team. Loads of love from India ❤❤
Just remember the title is fake, so it isn't even that harsh. Normal winter temperatures do not go down to -71, it's just a load of BS.
Its still cold @@Shonade_Malik
@@jiderdanso2727 Indeed.
@@Shonade_Malik while the lowest temperature recorded in Yakutsk is around -64°c, that measurement doesn't take other factors like wind into consideration. It is EXTREMELY harsh, and saying that it isn't is just wrong.

An objective and perceptive description of city, the fortunate and the unfortunate, which does credit to the narrator's depth of humanity. This is a remarkable young woman. Thanks!
Where i came from is the opposite side we deal with heat , keep showing us your daily life greeting from Muqdisho Somalia 🇸🇴

Yakutsk. I just Google mapsed your place as I'd never heard of it. I won't forget it . The people of Yakutsk . Salute you are real survivers. 💯
Fascinating glimpse into life in Yakutsk! Incredible how people adapt to such extreme cold. Sending love and warmth from India! 🇮🇳❤❄
Very good presentation, Kiun and your voice is so lovely! It was a shame when your presentation ended, because I wanted to hear even more!
This production in such frigid weather had to be challenging & I‘m sure you were glad to get back home and warm up! Sending love ❤️ + hugs 🤗 from USA 🇺🇸! Take care!
Despite the cold, you are such a warm person. May god bless you lots and keep everyone warm there. ❤ Love from India! 🇮🇳
Greetings from the United States! Great work, your channel is fantastic. It's such a necessary reminder that despite any differences we all have so much in common. This is a wonderful way to bring folks together. It's also really fascinating to learn about the lifestyle and culture of such a remote location. Keep up the great work!
I live in Toronto. After watching your video, I feel like my city is so warm.
와우~ 놀라워요~ 강력한 추위 속에서 평소 일상생활을 평온하게 수행하는 모습들이 신선하고 대단합니다!!
Wow! Thank you for sharing. I was going on about how winter makes me slow and I wanted to make excuses for not getting anything done because of the cold, living in London UK 🇬🇧 but now I have a new level of respect for colder countries and I hope this was a smack to get me to get things done! But also I have to say, I do appreciate that I live a comfortable life… thank you for this, I’ll share this to children to educate them about this beautiful planet and different experiences we’re all having. Thank you again 🤍🇬🇧💐
Спасибо за ваш труд и информативные видео высочайшего качества! ❤
Superb video! Thank you for sharing about Yakutsk! Your stories about your childhood and how the kids still like to play outside was adorable! And that boiling water turning into ice crystal in seconds was shocking. I know I couldn't live there with my cold intolerance and you definitely have my admiration for your mental and physical toughness to live there and deal with those beyond freezing conditions! I loved your video! Thank you so much for sharing!
Watching this video makes me feel blessed to be living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The winter temperatures here are usually around -20 degrees with colder spells lasting for only a few days. Sadly this city does have incidents with homeless people dying from hypothermia on the coldest days.
Hello fellow Winnipegger! 👋🏾 😊
I live in Texas where our lowest temperatures don’t get much below 20 degrees Fahrenheit maybe only a few days a year. That would practically be a summer day there! Great video. I really enjoyed it.

What a beautiful country with great strong 💪president A.V
@AshenafiAdugna-f2g nope, president is worst in entire Serbian history. Nobody really likes him except old people and people that got internet from his criminal party...
@AshenafiAdugna-f2g Nope, he is everything but great. In fact he is the worst "leader" in entire Serbian history. He sold everything. Only brainwashed old people and people that got interest from his criminal party support him.
@@AshenafiAdugna-f2g nope, he is everything but great. He ruined this country
Wow! That story from your childhood when tears froze on your face was both funny and sad at the same time.
Thank you for sharing this amazing video with us.
When I was younger, cold climate was for some reason so attractive to me.
Nowadays, I prefer warm weather 🙂
just google the weather ,she is lying.
@@xingjiuli1095it's warm in summer yes, Alaskan summers are very active as well.
Nothing could've been built there if it was -50 everyday.
@@xingjiuli1095-71 is the coldest temperature registered in the history of Yakutsk. This winter is a bit anomalous and came later than it’s supposed to, but the temperature got colder this week, it will go lower further in January/February, it’s usually -50/-55 each winter
Wow, im from Germany and even when i love the snowy wintertime i could never imagine to live in a country like this. Thank u so much for inviting
Thank you for sharing what life is like in a cold place in Yakutsk. We can appreciate how people live and work in such places.
