Why did he choose Punggol? What does he like about living in Singapore as a foreigner? Big thanks to Falko for letting me stalk him for the whole day! / falkojordans.nef

    Thanks to the late Dutchman Albert Winsemius' counsel to LKY on economic strategies in the early days, SG was able to avoid economic perils and domestic hardship/chaos. His contribution was so significant that LKY bestow much national commendation and credit to Mr Winsemius. T4, Dutchmen (and women of course) have a special place in our SG story and I am glad Ojisan feature this gentleman which clearly showcase the mutual love and respect we have for one another. This is one Ang Moh we proudly call as one of us too.

      IMO yall CAN afford Singapore, but maybe live in heartlands instead of typical expat life of condos etc. Even as a Singaporean, i was shocked to see Asian Boss videos of how rich Singaporeans are not aware of how cheap stuff can be that they use Starbucks as a yardstick rather than ur local kopi peng etc. But hey i would retire in Malaysia too because i wanna make a small farm

    As an Ang Moh living in beautiful SG, I once tipped the auntie at a coffee shop. She was so lovely and I fell empathy and respect for her. All the locals stared at me weirdly though. I hope I’ve not done anything wrong 😊

      If I see a foreigner, be it caucasian, black african or even a Korean or Japanese walking around in the heartlands, I would usually take a second glance.
      In most cases, it is more out of curiosity. It is rude to stare at others, hopefully as we have more foreigners in the heartlands, it becomes less of an oddity and people get used to it.

      @@sleepandrelaxation3395 thank you so much! What I mean is that locals stared at me because I tipped the auntie 🙂 Probably it is something that is not done, normally haha

      @@ChrisPBacon-mo9ln Oh, thanks for clarifying. You are right, tipping is not the standard practice. Definitely not at hawker centres or coffeeshops, I would look at you weirdly too.
      As for restaurants, there is usually a service charge included in the bill which is the "tip", so most people don't give extra. For me personally, I may give a small tip if the restaurant did not include a service charge and the service was good.

    I know a of singaporean couple in Colorado, they operate a food outlet selling Singaporean cum mallaysian food, and on their menu is Milo, hand carried from Singapore. Apparently, milo in the US is not the same as Milo here in Singapore.
    So I can understand Falko preferring Mayonnaise from Holland.

    • @silverchairsg
      @silverchairsg ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess US Milo is sweeter and has more milk probably? I tried taro milk bubble tea (boba) in SF, and it was super super milky. Very light purple in colour due to the mmuch higher concentration of milk relative to SG.

    Such a heartwarming feeling to know Falko likes living in Punggol too. I must say that our Fairprice finest is so well stocked up with products from everywhere in the world it's easy to live here. It's also kind of nice to step out and not see a road sometimes...just plenty of nature. Seems like a nice couple...we welcome you here in Punggol! ^^

    Maybe one day when I'm rich, instead of buying a luxury car I'll buy my very own Milo truck instead. Like you know there's this 1990s/2000s movie where the protagonist kid's father is a super rich man who owns a mansion, and inside the mansion he has his very own Macdonald's branch. How awesome would that be to have that kind of thing just for yourself!
