    These Detroit diesels are like a drug. I can't get enough of it!

      I know what you mean and used to enjoy the sound whether it was the six cylinder or the eight cylinder. Thing is back while in elementary school I was able to figure out how to imitate six or eight cylinder two stroke diesel engines.

    Thats the same Detroit I have in my 1962 GM PD4106 Greyhound bus converted to a 35' Motorhome/RV...My 6V92TA has about 100 more horses than what the bus originally had with the 8V71. Detroits are awesome work horses!😏👍

      Awesome. If I ever own an RV I'd love it to have an old Detroit.
      I'll learn to drive a 10-speed or whatever. I'm sure it's just like a 2020 STI lol

    L-Series Ford trucks are some of the best ever built by anyone. You might be surprised what a little TLC would do for that one.

      Man I know it, but a crackhead ran into me about 3 years ago and twisted some stuff up so it's really not worth it. I was turning left and he hit me in the front left doing 70+mph. Hit me so hard the back of my seat dented the cab under the back window sill. Twisted the cab around so far the clutch pedal won't engage the clutch brake anymore. Couldn't stand to junk it so I rolled another axle and steering box under it and I'm gonna run her on short hauls as long as she's willing. His insurance bought me an old aeromax with a cat and a high sided timpte hopper bottom so it's just a toy now. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching!

    One of the best trucks ever made!! You should fix it up.

      No doubt old Fords are underappreciated. I have too many projects and obligations to fix it up right. Besides all that, I like seeing one in her work clothes! Thanks for watching.

    Nice video man!!!
    Whats the fuel mileage when she is loaded?
    Whats the top speed?

    • @beavercommander
      @beavercommander  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey thanks! I really don't have a clue on mileage to tell you the truth. The farthest I haul is 12 miles away and closest is about 5, plus this is just kind of a play truck anymore, so I don't get over a few hundred miles a year. I've never felt like she's hard on fuel though. As far as speed- with the stock 2150rpm governor or whatever it is, maybe 67 empty (if you have a couple straight miles to get there!).

      @@beavercommander Not many trucks can run up to 2100rpm. This engine was built to reach those high revs. Love to hear it.

      @@dwightcorbett8889 It is. I assume it's coming in around where the roof mounted air conditioner used to be mounted. Gives the mice a place to get a drink of water. Thanks for watching.

    How many speeds?

    • @beavercommander
      @beavercommander  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      13 forward, 2 reverse. Maybe 3 reverse. Don't believe I've ever tried overdrive in reverse come to think of it. I'll have to try that and get back to you.
