Absolute UNIT! All semi's should have the option to be straight piped from the factory, cuz GOD DAMN, every single engine (especially this BEAST) sounds KILLER!
Nothing like hearing one on the highway at night winding out and grabbing gears, a sound you could never forget.
Why even bother putting a muffler on a engine like that! That's un american
@Jadiel Ethan I would suggest FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
@Kylan Marley definitely, I have been watching on flixzone for months myself :)
@Kylan Marley Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !!
imagine getting pulled over
"Hey, your truck is too loud."
"Well, you see.. This is "stock"
Hahha
Its not stock, Bud.
@@marshalllhiepler well that's kinda obvious, but that's what you'd be saying when getting pulled over lol
That thing breaks the sound barrier at 30 mph.
Or 48 km/h I think
NOTHING sounds better than the old Two Stroke Detroits!
Accept everything sounds better... These things sound horrid
I USED to not like the scream of the two strokes. But, as Uncle Sam takes more and more from us, I'm learning to love these beasts along the way.
Yes I got both a silver 8v92 and s Johnson v8 small block side oiler 2 stroke v8 outboard! I got 6 gallons of BRP XD-100 etec oil to fill up my Detroit and it works good and runs clean! It’s streight weight low ash
Ahem, 1MM 3406E sounds way better
My dad had an old gmc . He hauled brand new toyotas back in 68-74 I can hear that truck 8 miles from home coming down the valleys .
Im pretty sure that valleys shaking every time when truck pasing buy
2 strokes and 4 stroke diesel sounds same do u know the reason.. not almost but couldn't be differentiated any guess
0:02 my child hood maximum overdrive dreams!
Grew up in the 80s heard these Detroit's everywhere. Lived about a mile from the highway and heard those Jakes loud and clear!
8v92 is the best sounding engine on the planet. Not just for trucks but in general.
Sounds amazing. Reminds me of when my great grandfather drove. In the morning that was my alarm clock.
One badass peter shaker.
That thing sounds pretty damn cool, love em' old detroits.
So does this new 2 stroke th-cam.com/video/KwXzYVqyuYc/w-d-xo.html
I'm a grown ass man, but still smile when I hear jake breaks!
i feel like thats exlusive to being a grown ass man am i wrong?
U can't help but to love it that's normal Jake brake always sound good
already gone trough 4 gears before you had turned the cornet at that stoplight haha
Nothing like a straight piped two stroke detroit with a Jake brake. Thanks for inspiring influential video to do my own project truck now. Props man 👍
its amazing the difference you can hear with a 92 vs a 71
Your neighbors must thank you for being their alarm clock when this bad boy starts up in the morning and even more so on a nice cold start.
My neighbors are a half a mile away yay!!!
@@BRIANVANDUYN im sure you hear that thing 2 miles away
Man I miss our GMDD/MCI Classic buses. They had 6V71s and 6V92TAs 😍 Gosh they sounded so good.
Turning diesel fuel into the perfect harmony........I knew this guy in Australia, pulling 80 ton road trains from Brisbane to Perth (4500km) and his 8V92TTA Kenworth 'SAR' was called "Symphony of the Devil" .........his name was Bob Siviour and he was a real character. When D.oT inspectors tried to stop him, by brake checking him, he floored the pedal and rammed them!! Wrote their car off, they ended up in a ditch.
it is so weird hearing these things. they sound like they're revving to 5000 rpm despite being a large displacement diesel.
They still did rev higher than most diesels though
It probably did.
A two stroke fires twice as often as a four stroke, which makes it sound like it is running twice as fast.
@@matthewstorm5188 2 strokes also rev higher
th-cam.com/video/y2jEgSU4h8c/w-d-xo.html
East German Wartburg with 900cc 2 stroke engine
Sounds like 12000rpm
Some of you probably know this, but did you know the largest most powerful internal combustion engine in the world is a 2 stroke diesel? It is also the most efficient as well. 50% thermal efficiency. Another nugget is EMD (general motors) made the 567, 645, & 710 locomotive engines(same producers of Detroit diesel) 567, 645, & 710 ci per cylinder. 2 stroke diesels will always be the bee's knees. 4 can hit the floor. 2 I love you. 2 stroke army unite!!
I agree
Great piece of American engineering and sounds awesome,, big old trucks built your country,, millions of miles,,, don't put steelwool in the exhaust as it will come out red hot and look like a volcano,,, did from a motorcycle I once owned,,, ☘️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland great noise
Most would remember the 2 stroke sound of the typical Grey Hound bus
Nashville can't make music that good
we had that same power plant in our fire engine, that machine could kick ass! it was a 1983 Pierce Arrow pumper, it won hill climb contests ( when we used to have those types of competitions) that thing was brutal ! we live in the hills of south western Pennsylvania, she was just replaced only 2 years ago, never had any problems with the power plant. the Jake break was the sweetest sound ever, it had an Allison automatic transmission ( Military grade) so we couldn't make it really scream unless we were flowing water. - I love to hear those 2 strokers- glad you guys are keeping them alive kicking and screaming !
Just love the sound of a Detroit Diesel Series 92
Yeah i got a silver 8v92.
Love it. There is not a better sounding diesel. I love the sound of an old 2 stroke detroit.
When I am sitting here watching, and hearing. That Detroit converting dead dinosaurs into beautiful music in 5.1 surround (simulated). I can’t help but to smash those buttons. Subed
Thx for watching 😎
I had a Fitzgerald Peterbilt I drove here recently .... I think it had strait 7” stacks with bullhorn exhaust that was exited right behind the cab above my side windows ..... it was not near as loud as your driving down the road ( a lil rumble that sounded nice ) but I drove it enough for when the jakes were turned on driving down then long West Virginia hills .....it was so loud you could not hear the radio when it was fully turned up .... I didn’t want to drive it no more , I wanted turbo mufflers put on it or long pipes with miter cut pipes on it ..... it finally cured me for loud exhaust at 46 yrs old 😎 .... I could not imagine driving the truck for a couple hrs 😎.....
Devil crying when hier that sound.I love trucks with that sound
The hellcat of semis
We cut the mufflers off our 92s at my fire department and that 6v and 8v rip 🤩 best part it’s a straight 5 cut short and the cab is open in the back so you’re sitting next to the engine and the pipe is cut right by the pump on the officer side sounds like wet dreams all day
Maximum overdrive green goblin truck nostalgia sound right there. Love it
I miss my old detroits, good to hear one again.
My favorite fragrance, the smell of diesel and the beautiful sound of a Jake Brake. Beautiful
Detroit Diesel, turning diesel into sound since 1938.
Great! I liked that crazy shifting up!
I'm just watching some videos of old Detroits in the cold and came across this as soon as you pulled on to the main road I thought it looked familiar. This beast is local graham Hill is great for jakes
Sound of the 70s!
Loud pipes save lives
I like the rear tires you got on there
1:46 the maximum overdrive vibes…
Wow!! Cool video!! Ya know, I thought I recognized this road!! You're on Meridian in Graham, and take a right turn on 224th! The Arco and Rite-Aid gave it away! Of course, so did the weather! Love the truck (orange is my favorite color), love the sound!!
Give me an old Detroit anyday!
Nice truck👍 always wanted to own a Detroit . I was lucky enough to have C-12 & 3408 cats in my work 🚚 trucks. Sweet sounds to asphalt cowboys.👍🤠
Thanks 👍
I really like the Cummins N14!
Love that Pete. I have 8v 92 in a 88 mci bus that runs like a champ if you know anyone interested.
Awesome! Old Detroit Diesels sound great!
music to my ears!!! love a 8v92
Need 2stacks love that sound
I rode in a boat that had this type of engine.
Detroit Diesel. The most efficient way to turn fuel into noise without the side effects of horsepower
Every vid with a Detroit, I hear this...
@@MidwestFarmToys an old school trucker once told me a Detroit diesel is like a woman. In town they bark, bellow, brag and carry on but you get them in the hills they barely put out
Hahha well this truck runs like a raped ape.
Runs like raped ape. That's funny. No 5th wheel for a reason. Moms grocery getter. Water pump engines. Have fun, you'll shift better than anyone on the road.
It's nice to see someone on TH-cam that is local!!
3:15 I like low rev. jake brake sound 😁
Beautiful sound !! Thanks !
Dude, that thing sounds BAD!!! I’m building a 72 Kenworth single ax with 4wd, two stroke, jake, twin sticks, 260” wb. Rock on!!!
Look at those new drives , nice
Cool video! Love the jake brake! Wavin from Scotland!🤟
😂not loud enough, cant hear JAKE and go 8" but I love it
As far as I know Department of Transportation said you needed to have mud flaps on the truck they didn't specify how they need to be mounted
The new Dump Body is Fire💥💥💥💥. Very Sharp.
That screamer sounds awesome.
thanks dude!
kinda more of a growler..?
you make me want to love trucks again man! that sounds soooo good!
i am telllen ya come here ill drive it1lol
Oh I believe you
I miss hearing the good ole Detroits screamin by but there are none in Ontario any more, the Greyhound buses and a lot of cement trucks used to have em but no more.
Sounds like my grandpas M35 deuce an a half
O som desse motor 2 tempos é maravilhoso.
Your Right it Sounds Good & Mean
I like it sounds good I hope i get one !
If a civic and a Subaru had a kid this is what it would sound like
that is one bad ass truck!
Thx man
I don't know much about the Detroit V8's I use to run a dump truck with a 3208 CAT V8 and currently run a dump truck with 3126B CAT turbo 6cly. And 3 other trucks with V8 turbo diesels But I only run the rpms up when I am loaded heavy and taking off or pulling a grade. After 4th or 5th I usually keep the rpms around 1100-1500rpm as stated in the owners manual. It saves fuel and wear and tare. One manual talks about progressive shifting like 1st gear to 1100rpm, 2nd gear at 1200, all the way through the gears but have a 1500-1600 rpm ceiling. I don't see how that would work. I know in this video you were show casing your new straight pipe which I would leave it like it is that dude sounds sweet and it will sound even better once you get the rock box full of gravel or what ever you haul. I love listening to my engines doing what they were made to do.
I was told you have to drive a old Detroit like you slammed your finger in the door and shift around 2k , but you are spot on cuz at work that's what I do when I drive the cats or Cummings
I know on all my 1 tons they said to drive it like I stole it. Keep posting the great videos.
+Jeremy Eaker Thx man I'll try!!!
I do that to right on !
The problem with these old Detroit's is they have a narrow power band. That's why truckers usually reved them high to get max power. That is also the reason why they burn more fuel than a Cat or Cummins.
Detroit's were good for stationary use or marine, but not so good on the road.
Sounds great!
I'd like to hear that jake from outside.. lol
I think I have a few videos with the camera out side
That sounds like a 6.0 powerstroke v8 turbo diesel
wow beautiful truck man
Thx
i’m not a fan of committing my whole life to Diesel trucks or just trucks in general but man i would take this beauty any day instead of a RC toy car Tesla
Awesome sound 👍👍
I think your going to need a new rear hinge for the body now that the guy has cut the ear off. Look at Ox Body's rear hinge assembly for ideas would be my suggestion.
Music to my ears!!!
Nice sounding old Pete you got there! Brings back a lot of memories of my first year driving with an old KW with a 8v92 silver series
hey Thx man !!!
Im kicking around the idea of possibly attempting to swap out my 8.2L Detriot for a 8V92T. If it could work it be one hell of svreaming monster. The engine weight is the biggest concern. My front axle only got a GVR of 7K lbs.
you'll have better luck with a 6v53t
@@harrimanfox8961 maybe but if i was going to 6 cylinder route i want a inline 6.
try an 8v53 if you can find one. i got a silver 8v92 and it's like 2800 lbs.
Hey bro they sell a spring mounted mud flap for each side that goes on with like 4 bolts and nuts ..it's idiot proof but wait till you hear it hauling weight behind it...
Got some nice meaty tires on her… sounds great too
Thx
@@BRIANVANDUYN no problem….stay safe and keep on truckin good buddy
Put a muffler on that thing, you will thank me after the first week.
Have you started putting your name out there with the local excavation company's and quarrys? Get you business cards made up and go introduce yourself around. I am sure that the season hasn't kicked off yet where you are at, here in the KC area I have been working for my regular contractors a few days each week but the rain is slowing us down.
Have you figured out your rates yet, how much you need to break even vs local going rates vs what you are going to charge? try and do hourly rates no money in hauling by the ton unless the tonnage rates are close to your hourly rate. I have a set minimum rate and if I can't at least get that per hour I don't work. Hardest part of this is sticking to your rates especially starting out, if you haul cheap to get work they will expect you to haul cheap next time or even cheaper. All they are doing is sticking that extra in there pocket. A contractor bids the work at going rates plus 10 to 15%, so even before they hire you they got the trucking money from the client. Also always charge a dump fee if if it's free unless the contractor has a place for you to dump. I have hauled to a free dump site and it's to muddy to get in so I had to go to pay site, you will be glad you got the dump fee.
Great info... must move out there just so I can run a two stroke tipper....
I'd sure like to see you pick those gears. It sounds very smooth!
I've been lookin around your channel but couldn't find a video of you filming it
It would be in a live stream called cowboy shifting or floating the gears or no clutch shifting I can't remember
Don't need a Jake with an old Detroit. Just let of the throttle, it will fall on its face quickly, very quickly. Going slow is not a problem.
You should paint the rear rims silver
Awesome, Dude! 👍
I want an old Chevy pickup with an 8v92
Sounds like a fuckin Sti flat four at 3000 rpm! Bahahaha. Such an alien concept a 2 stroke engine. Let alone a diesel!
miss that sound !!!!
love it
GAH DAMN sounds exactly like the maximum overdrive truck. Fuck... I need to find me a GMC Astro cabover now! (they came standard with em or the 6v92T) And i tell ya they are the loudest sum bitches out there... especially when you can ROMP It and scare people half to death !!! LOL
Yeah they sound cool at first until you try to have a conversation on the phone or listen to some music! The noise gets real old after awhile! Been there done that.
190-48. That's all the diesel you will ever need.
@ 2:20 me riding in the short 🚌…pow! 😵☠️
But the 12v71 Detroit diesel sounds a lot meaner, all Detroit's diesel sound good with straight pipe
Awesome 😎 🔥
Why do i feel like this truck should be 6 wheel drive
That would be awesome!!!!
it's a pavement princess until it is. living in Alaska, i feel like i should apply at the power company just to drive their massive 6x6 semi trucks when a power line goes down 50 miles in the woods
Like a military Oshkosh they use this motor
Awesome
Love it !!!
Cool thanks
