That engine works at high rpm, the combination of cardan shaft transmission and differential makes it. the difference transforming into good torque which is why it sounds revved and goes slowly but surely

While this is happening, more unburned fuel can exit the exhaust compared to a 4-stroke engine since it has less time to combust properly.
Compared to most tractors from the 60s it's not that bad, either way this is such an early steiger it's still in the "barn series" as in they were built in a barn.

Built a few of those, they use way thicker wall tubing than you normally do for that diameter. Also those "Rockwell" style ujoints are stronger than a traditional spicer type
The Detroit diesel isn't very exciting to watch at a tractor pull, but it will get the job done. I knew what the result was going to be before he even got started.
I just can't fall in love with this sound... still sounds like a big ATV to me. A proper tractor engine is a 4-stroke turbodiesel for me. Not that this is a bad one, but it's not a PROPER engine imo ;)
Seeing these 4WD tractors have Eddie Wagner and the Wagner brothers at Wagner Tractor and Wagner Mining written all over it. The Wagner Brothers came up with a lot of innovations in farming and mining equipment Aftrr WW2 using 4WD drive systems

To get it to scream has nothing to do with stack size .. it's the throttle linkage/governor turn it up crank it up rev it up is how it's properly done
Small pipes make it sound like someone shitting through a straw. Big pipes give it a good rumble.
