  • Model A Mabel
On December 4th, 2023, I purchased Model A Mabel from a fellow in San Juan Capistrano, California. 23 hours later it was delivered to my home in Tucson, Arizona. My older brother had accompanied me on this trip, and with the unexpected rapid transit response, we had to zip back fast to Phoenix to drop him off and then I shot straight down to Tucson to receive the vehicle.
Model A Mabel is a 1930 Model A Ford Tudor. It was in generally good shape and appeared to only need general maintenance.
This channel is intended to document my experience in owning a Model A Ford for the first time. It will be from the perspective of a non-mechanic background getting his feet wet - hopefully on the small stuff.
The audience for this channel is mainly for my family and friends. It is a way to relate my progress or de-progress of stepping into a new and uncomfortable zone. I am firm in thought that we all should challenge ourselves from time to time on something outside our comfort zone. Now, anyone is invited of course, and if more folks outside my family and friends watch these up and coming episodes; well, everyone is welcome to see the experience of a newbie in this hobby.

Thank you. Have I seen you before? You look familiar, doppelgänger! You probably have heard that joke a thousand times.

NO seat belts. Lol. My first car was a 63 Nova. No seat belts, either. I got pulled over for not wearing my seat belt. I told the cop there isn't any. He didn't believe me, he had to radio in asking if this was true. No ticket for me.

So your first car was a 63 Nova. I didn't know that. Mine was a 66 Nova, smashed on the passenger side and kind of fixed up.

This is such a sweet thing to do, and such a cool car.

Kudo's to you for picking up the grandkids from school in Mabel!! Get the younger generation interested in older car's! My Dad drove his 1931 Model A Coupe to our grade school back in the mid 1970's for show and tell. You need to get another Model A (Who only has one Model A?) with a rumble seat and the grandkids will definitely enjoy the 1/4 mile trip home!!!

I agree. I have thought about building a new garage with a lift, but I am not sure about the expenditure at my age.
I bet that was a blast for you back in the mid 70's. In the early 70s I was doing double tire burn outs in from of my High School, as my 1967 cougar had posi traction.
Thank you for watching and the comment.

Beautiful car! I have a ‘31 Tudor Deluxe in the same color combination. A couple suggestions for safety: a driver’s seat belt, LED bulbs all around, and turn signals. Not too difficult to install yourself. Happy puttering along!

Thanks for the input. Is your color combination in the same location? Meaning dark on the lower half and lighter on top? I ask because when I see this color combination, it always is in reverse to mine.

Really nice video, my 1930 Cabriolet was restored sometime in the 70’s and the paint is starting to show it but for now I’m going to leave it as is and get all the mechanics tip top. I have been there done that with the new immaculate paint job and you can never enjoy the car for worrying about every little scratch. Your doors really shut well. The Cabriolet’s require a good slam to make sure both latches to catch or you might be grabbing it later when it flies open but you know what? I love that old car!

Wonderful on your 1930 Cabriolet. Share a photo if you wish. Maybe I can show some photos of other folks cars.
I agree on the new paint. It's like some kind of Holy glow that one is nervous to interact with. I don't know when mine was restored. It certainly has its flaws, and overall shows better on camera than it really is.
I have a brother-in-law that has an immaculate 29 A Roadster that he puts in shows. That is his enjoyment more than driving it. We are all different so, good for him.
Thank you for your comment and watching my Grandson's video.

Mine is dark on the upper, lighter on the lower. Still beautiful however!

Check the laws in your state. In California, adults can ride without seat belts. However, current children laws apply for all vehicles.

I bet you have a pocket full of life joy's in your life time. The youngest grandson, when I went to take him home the other day, asked me, "Can we go in the Model A?" Warmed my heart.

Nice to see you have a new (to you) Model A Tudor. It's pronounced "2-door" - enjoy!

    • @ModelAMabel-wf9nv
      @ModelAMabel-wf9nv  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for the response. I kid around so much that I automatically said "toot-der" instead of "two-door."
So, were you the bad guy that them cowboys caught in your video?
