  • With 7 Episodes in 3 weeks, and the conclusion of Mabel’s restart problems, it is a time for a quick wrap-up. Here we recap the issues that were on hand, then showcase some viewer inputs that may help someone else in the same but slightly different situation.
My videos are done with a touch of tongue-n-cheek; thus, for example, when I show battery charger cables as car jumper cables, it is all in jest.
As a reminder, I am new to the Model A Ford hobby. The motivation for this channel is to document and show my family, friends, and anyone else that wishes to watch my progress, or de-progress, with Model A Mabel. Maybe I can show some folks that it is OK to step into uncharted territory, and that the angst or anxiety that one may get; well, you can challenge oneself to overcome.
    Regards,
    Model A Mabel

My wife and I love your videos! It’s so nice to see people of all ages take up the Model A Hobby! Your videos are as fun as driving a Model A! I purchased my first 1930 Tudor 2 years ago at 44 years old. We love learning about them every step of the way! Thanks for the entertainment! Your new fans, Annie and Lenny from NY

Thank you for your kind words. You mentioned the wife and you. I have had a request to make a video advocating for wives to let their husbands have Model As. It sounds like the two of your are both Model A enthusiasts. That is wonderful!
If you and your wife have any inputs to reasons and arguments for wives to let their husbands have a Model A, I am all ears.
I know there are ladies out their who have Model As, so I am not sure what the percentage is. But, it has become apparent to me that some guys out there want a Model A, and may need a bit of ammunition.

My best advice for any fella that would like a Model A is to include their Honey in the experience. Model A’s put smiles on most people’s faces which is important in everyday life. They are fun to drive and fun to ride in. Bring your Gal to some car shows and talk to some Model A owners they are usually very nice folks. Also the Model A “Family” is very welcoming and can become fun for the whole family. If you can convince your bride to give that little car a chance there is a huge possibility she will fall in love with it. Just be careful…..if she drives the A and gets used to it you may end up with more than one in the garage!!! Keep making them videos my new friend! Your fun!

One more thing to consider. I have personal experience with this one. It recently happened to a friend of mine too. I had a '49 Chevrolet pickup as a teenager. 6 Volt outfit and started great when cold - a real nail biter when hot though. It was a regular Jekyll and Hyde. When I finally took the starter motor apart, I found many years of grease. My electric motor technician friend explained that the warming grease was obviously was getting in the way of current. Cleaned it up and problem solved. A friend of mine with a '30 Model A recently had the same complaint and had been living with it for months. He had no fingernails left to speak of. The solution was the same as my old pickup. After a degrease and cleanup, it's peppy at any temperature. Old car problems can be mighty obscure. These cars have run so many decades beyond any life expectancy of an engineer, we've off all the maps.

I am amazed at all the inputs I have been receiving. I get comments from folks lamenting their problems, and the fix on mine didn't work with them. I am thinking in time of doing another follow up on this problem with your and other suggestion. Thank you for taking your time to provide additional inputs.

Again I love your videos and your attitude. "Love rooster laugh" and your "cougers"

Thanks again for your comment and watching. My wife is humor impaired. She said, "Why would you put a rooster in your video?"

Hey, Uncle Jimmy. Love video. I just started watching Itchy Boots. The motorcycle lady travels around the world. 😉

Hey there you are. Thanks for the comment. Itchy Boots is awesome. I hope she stays safe. Does this mean you are going to get a motorcycle and tell your hubby and kids, "See you later, alligators!"?

I found a trick in starting is to choke turn motor over then turn on the key and turn over and start!

Thank you for your comment. I am not sure if people like that, so hearing this helps. In part, my narration is mimicking silent movies, but with sound voice overs, as strange as that may sound. Hum. That sounded so puedo-philosophical!
      Thank you for watching.
