Giant flying flaming locusts is what did it for me. THAT. IS. NOT. HOW. FIRE. WORKS!! Those bugs would have been barbecue then & there, not to mention their wings would have been incinerated instantly. Ridiculous movie from start to finish.

Don't forget they were bio engineered, so maybe the scientist gave them fire resistance to survive global warming which he then realized was his mistake lol.

@@TheCommanderTaco that is not how any of that works. I don't care how "bioengineered" you are, all insects are flammable. Period. They are made of flammable bits. Plus, the ones in the movie clearly are not fire resistant, they catch fire and die. It's just that they can still fly for some reason.

Raptors: "Cheetah speed. 50-60 km an hour if they're out in the open, and they're astonishing jumpers. They're extremely intelligent, even problem solving intelligent."
Also Raptors: *Can't catch a significantly slower human running on foot when they can quickly catch up to a motorcycle*
For those who don't understand or don't remember this was a moment from the original film where the main cast are told about the Raptors and what they're capable of doing. This is significant considering that the Raptors in every film are meant to be extremely dangerous and highly HIGHLY intelligent, using pack tactics and ambushing/ boxing in to catch their prey effectively and efficiently at a rapid pace. Suddenly we went from humans having to outsmart them and barely escape to just being able to outrun them because of plot. Just because it's fiction doesn't mean they can just change the rules whenever they feel like it once it's established and this is not consistent at all with what is established. You can't make them super competent one second then turn around and make them into bumbling monsters the next.

Do you remember in the original where the biggest WTF was when the Raptors learnt how to open a door? Raptors were scary, Trex was scary and the movie was great. Compare to now you can have 5 raptors together and it isnt that scary, Trex is basiclly your friend, dinos are treated like a pet cat attacking you than man eating monster and the characters have to do crazy over the top stuff to stop themselves getting killed. Its like comparing the original Fast and Furious 1 to F&F9, in original a little crash did them physical harm, in 9 they can survive the most over the top crashes with out a scratch as they have to be invincible to survive the craziness.

On top of the stupidity, the movie lacks any showmanship and fanfare like the original had in spades. There are no scenes like the reveal of the first dino in Jurassic Park, the way the music swells and the camera pushes in on our actors, and then the reveal to the audience what they're seeing, no "Welcome to Jurassic Park", no T-Rex setup with the goat and the water glass and the tension building to an incredible payoff. In this movie, when we see Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler on screen again for the first time, there's no fanfare. He just turns the corner, tada! No build up, no swell of John Williams, no pause, no showmanship. Moments are just lost while the movie smashes CG action figures into each other like a child playing with toys.

It is not just a dick Dino that wants to kill. From what we know about it. It’s a highly territorial dinosaur that had the balls to fight anything because of its large claws. This Dino has been found with marks in its bones that shows it would have regularly fought huge Theropod dinosaurs like T-Rex and win. It’s a herbivore that’s very aggressive and territorial like the Triceratops. Not throwing any shade at the Joe Squad I just wanted to give you guys info on this awesome Dinosaur.

The plane crashes we see the water rush into the cockpit where Owens and the pilot were seated. We then see the plane half submerged and Owens and the pilot escape out of the top of the plane. HOWEVER when they emerge from the plane they are completely dry. Not a drop of water on them. It isn't until they get attacked and Owens falls in the lake that either of them actually become wet. That reminds me of an episode of X-Files although I struggle to remember what was supernatural about this guy. I remember he had a cosmetics and nails fetish and had kidnapped Scully and because this was filmed in the early nineties her role was to run around the house with very inadequate ability to fight him off until she’s rescued in the nick of time. Anyway at one point she knocks the bad guy into a partially full bath and runs away so he struggles out and chases her. But in the very next scene he’s completely dry despite having been dunked in the bath seconds ago according to the episode.

I really enjoyed that sequence with Claire crawling away from the Dino after landing in the ejector seat in the tree. However it was motivated by stupidity on Claire’s part. The Dino wasn’t interested in her to begin with, it was hunting the deer and totally distracted. Had she just stayed where she was and not decided to crawl away, she’d have been fine. However, as I said, I liked this sequence because it was one of the few examples of TENSION! I miss the tension in these movies, the original JP is still unbelievably tense even though I’ve probably watched it 50 times since it’s release. I need less loud spectacle and action and more slow burn scenes. For example, the build up to our first encounter with the T-Rex, from the moment the vehicles break down outside the paddock, it’s so tense and it slowly gets more and more intense, the goat disappears, night falls, pouring rain obscures the windows of the vehicles, culminating with the vibration in the cups of water and FINALLY, the T-Rex appears with a huge eye looking into the car! The use of animatronic here is incredible (even in 2022, it holds up) it feels real and the acting is perfect. None of the 5 sequels have come close to this scene, there are 1-2 scenes in JP2 that are kinda tense, the raptors in the field closing in on a group of people is pretty scary. I think they need to remember what made JP so incredible, it’s not just having Dinosaurs, making them fight and kill people, although the Jurassic World trilogy doesn’t even have the Dinos eat many people. They just give the Dinos way too much screen time, there’s never any build up to an introduction, not even an attempt to obscure them, they are fully onscreen, fully lit in daytime all the time. They lose any mystery or sense of awe! I think the reason I adore Jurassic Park so much is because Steven Spielberg uses the same techniques and he used so effectively in Jaws, what you can’t see is often more scary. You barely see the shark, just flashes here and there, the opening scene terrifies me and left me with a fear of sharks, dark/open water for life, you never even SEE the shark during this scene! Anywho, if you read this far, thank you for your patience, I mostly wrote this for myself to get it off my chest after seeing Dominion on my own earlier! I was so irritated by the excessive amount of Dinosaurs fighting, lack of peril and the contrived scenes and plot armour!

Dominion is a betrayal of all that made Jurassic Park a classic masterpiece. It's a betrayal of Crichton's profound ideas and Spielberg's visionary imagination. It's a betrayal of the arts of animatronics and CGI and managed to bring out the worst in both. It's a betrayal of dinosaur portrayal in media, one of the aspects that made Jurassic Park such a historical film, not just a major blockbuster. It's a betrayal of childhood memories, like all other 2015 franchise awakenings. The only thing that might cause one to consider it slightly, just slightly, better than horrendous movies like Dark Fate and Rise of Skywalker is that it didn't slay its legacy characters nor its established lore.
The movie, like water, has no taste, no color, and no scent. It starts with a somehow promising first act, middles with a lousy second act, before ending with a corny-as-fuck third act.
Colin Treverrow took proved himself a total creatively bankrupt. The movie ends with another iteration of his JW's final battle. He forces us to see the same old shit again, only this time with different species and a new big-bad dinosaur. Even Rexy was treated the same (a fake death before its final teaming up and triumph). Alan and Ellie's characters were reduced to mere comedic reliefs, and Dodgson's character was murdered in cold blood. The rest were just ok/meh. The movie's end takes us back to TLW's finale, only with a change of location (Dolomites' valley instead of Sorna), which confirms that the latter was the only worthy sequel, and everything that came after it was superfluous.
And although it's the movie with the most dinosaur species in the franchise, it somehow feels the least. The majority of species are presented in blink-and-you-will-miss-it shots or merely in the background, and the ones that get more screen time were handled very, very poorly.
There is no doubt that this is the weakest link in an overall atrocious trilogy, with JW coming second and the Fallen Kingdom being the best of the three.
This is the first JW movie I'll not give a second or a third watch in the theatre. Enough is enough. I, as Malcolm sarcastically put it in what might be the best line in the movie, "am not a fan," and I will never be.

    - Somewhat poor dinosaur CGI in places. Maybe I was spoiled by how good Prehistoric Planet on Apple looked?
    - No stakes. All the good guys survive. Even the side characters.
    My franchise ratings:
    Jurassic Park: 10/10
    Jurassic Park 2: 8/10
    Jurassic Park 3: 8/10 (Yep)
    Jurassic World: 7/10
    Fallen Kingdom: 4/10
    Dominion: 6.5/10
I didn't hate it as much as most people, but it's only slightly above average in my books. Could have been a lot better.

One part they forgot about was the ADS. Ellie was told on the helicopter ride over exactly what the ADS is but then later in the film when they need to turn it back on she has no clue what it is. If they needed to remind a character (audience) what the ADS is then Maisie would have been the best as she's the only one who doesn't know from what we've seen.

Don’t forget that Ellie outran a velociraptor with a camera 📸 hooked on her ankle in the first movie lol 😆. Actually I think her ankle was twisted. People easily forget the small mistakes in the original films. Truth be told I believe that if the original films came out today people would call them trash. I’m not saying they are but I truly believe that the standards of fans today are unnecessarily high. Still we should call out things that are actually bad like the Kenobi TV series for example. That sure has his moments but overall the story is very average because the directors did not do their homework on the characters at all. That’s not a conspiracy that’s a fact. They actually didn’t know that Kenobi knew that Anakin was Vader.

I'm just gonna cut and paste my own comment (I'm conceited like that) from another review cause it sums up my feelings pretty well: You'll need way more dinossaurs than would fit in a Disney Park to even begin threatening Earth, a T-rex ain't got nothing on a well placed Airstrike, the first movie worked precisely because the humans were cutoff from all the weapons that could kill the dinossaurs. The second a dinossaur sets foot in any mainland the army of whatever country they were in would blow them to bits. I think it could work if it was like a extended version of the final part of the second Jurassic Park movie, when the T-rex is let loose on the city (still think the police's guns would have taken it down eventually), just drop a bunch of different dinossaurs in a city and follow a small and likeable set of characters as they try to escape the city or survive until the Army shows up to shoot all dinossaurs down, in that case it would be almost like a disaster movie or a zombie apocalypse, the chaos caused by the dinossaurs would make the infrastructure of the city collapse, jammed highways, people looting, that kind of stuff, so the threat is not only the dinossaurs but also the humans. Maybe even have the company that created the dinossaurs stalling the army behind the scenes cause they don't want to lose their precious assets.

after reading a good number of Chrichton's novels, I want to give this discussion point, the point of Jurassic Park isn't about the dinosaurs, or about their scientific accuracy in the novels. the Point is about the worries of Unchecked Science gone rampant. the dinosaurs are just a medium for the horrible things that could go.
instead of dinosaurs, the subject matter could be about genetically engineered roaches that feed on radiation but become hazardous to the world around them when they spread too far beyond control, or about Mosquitos who are engineered to carry a super virus.
the real danger within the novel Jurassic park is about the horror that could happen with unchecked, unrestrained genetic science.

    • @adamhunter4755
      @adamhunter4755 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

But the morality of unchecked science and the whole dinner scene in the first movie is thrown away. By the ending and actions of the scientist. So cloning yourself is okay and being responsible for almost bringing humanities destruction multiple is okay because you stopped the locust.
That's the thing we have to learn now to co exist with an extinct species and supposed to believe that they will somehow fit perfectly fine within the eco system.
