    Thanks for sharing such a detailed break down of burnout. I can really relate to what you say because I was around the early stage 7 back at 2022 haha... took me almost a full year to recover. Saying all that, burnout is not all bad (just mostly bad), burnout means you are able to learn and grow fast, probably the shortcut to become good at what you do. I am sort of glad I have experienced burnout in my life so my body now remembers how much damage it has caused to both my mental and physical health. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger better and it is so true lol

    Thank you as always for the words of wisdom Mako. As someone who experienced burnout and had to take two years off, being able to starve it off before it worsens really is the best thing to do. Thank you for the reminder ❤

      I'm sorry to hear you got to that place, but the fact that you were able to manage 2 years off to care for yourself sounds like a win. Hope you're feeling better these days 🙏

  • @KingaGorski

    To put it simply and directly, dealing with burnout (more specifically, preventing it before we actually *become* burned out) comes down to caring about ourselves enough to not get to that place, in the first place. I'm ambitious as hell, so I know the desire to accomplish big things and the effort it takes to get there. That said, you can't do anything if you're absolutely drained and feel like you're dying inside.
    There's no project, goal, or achievement that takes precedence over our health and well-being. The irony is that when we feel and are operating at our best, our best work follows. No one can run on empty. 🙏

    So glad to see your new vlog, dear Mako! You have a very good introspection and I love this kind of introspective, psychological material. Each time I see there is something off with me, I also start my research doing Google. There is so much material available online nowadays. In the form of scientific texts, people's testimonies etc. I suffered extreme burnout recently for three months and wasn't even aware of it for half of the time. I didn't even know these burnout stages exist... But I did a huge quasi-scientific research for sure when the suffering of engaging in the activity started to exceed the pleasure I derived from it. And when I gradually began to neglect myself and my basic needs. I'm also a perfectionist. And such a burnout happens to us perfectionists a lot. Simply because perfection is humanly impossible. And we risk destroying ourselves in the process of chasing it. I know that being a content creator is an extremely stressful and demanding job. I follow a person who has been talking about it for years. She has a small, but devoted circle of followers and a small, but steady income. I'm afraid those at the very top are the most miserable. But they won't say a word about it. Cause they are so deeply involved with the whole system and it's also their livelihood. I like those spiritual vids of yours most: like "ikigai", "japanese healthy habits", today's "burnout". You seem to have a flair for these topics and it's not common. People lead more and more unhappy lives but avoid talking about feelings online. I'm also quite interested in how much the Japanese people are focused on work and perfectionism. Isn't it at the expense of their own happiness? Idk, work is one of the things in life I value most, but I also believe that one's life needs to find a balance between work and distraction. Keep going Mako, you've got this.

      thank you so much and it's so true, I used to be a perfectionist as well and that was probably one of the reasons why I got burned out.

    Hi Mako... Thank you for your video. One way of dealing with burnout is to have a hobby. I too was having burnout due to my work. My focus then was only work, work and work. I realized this is not what I want my life to be. I then looked for things outside of work to do so as to keep my mind and my life away from work for a while. I volunteer at my local community, and it is a great way to deal with my burnout. Not only did I make new friends with other volunteers, but I also have a sense of fulfillment as I've helped improve the lives of people and make them happy. This is something that even my work cannot give. Find something that helps you be yourself and do it. 😊😊

    I think it is important to mention that burnout can happen in basically any job and also for students. At least in my country people believe that burnout is only reserved for top corporate executives and so many people will not seek information or help because “burnout cannot happen to them” or they feel like they don’t “deserve” burnout. I have experienced all of the stages you talked about and not in a corporate job. I just gradually became more and more exhausted to the point where even one week of holiday was not enough. I came back from a week off and had energy for like three days. It was horrible.

    • @KingaGorski
      @KingaGorski 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Burnout can affect all types of people, in all types of jobs and roles. It seems like most people push themselves hard and only slow down when they "take time off", between say 4 days to a few weeks for a vacation. Taking *daily* breaks and consciously creating moments to slow down is vital in this fast-paced modern world we live in. It's only getting faster... no one's going to get us to slow down unless we do it for ourselves 🙏 meditation has been a game-changer personally.

    I miss you. Hobbies are great way to relax ourselves. My hobby are reading books and listening to music. Sometimes I create new hobbies. They bring me relaxation.
    We are working professionals and we don't have time to spend on ourselves and we can't take care of ourselves. We would quit job or take a break from work when we understand better than before and listen to body's need.
    Thank you so much for your video.

      Hobbies are a great way to have fun and wind down away from "the daily grind", as many call it. I always say: Time comes to those who create it. If we don't slow things down for a few moments every day for ourselves, well, the world isn't going to do it for us. If we love ourselves enough, we'll make the time to recharge. It's all about prioritization and self-esteem/self-respect/self-worth - we deserve to feel our best 🕊

    I feel for you, Mako! It seems you were putting other people's needs ahead of your own needs. That is a recipe for burnout. 😕Especially when you were replying to e-mails and other notifications right away.
    I have the same issue. Sometimes I put too much time and effort into helping other people, though I am better at this now than years ago.
    Brian Tracy is a success speaker. He recommended checking e-mail once in the morning, and you have it scheduled, say from 10 am to 10:30 am. ☕ And if you need to, check e-mail again later in the afternoon, but don't reply to each and every e-mail as soon as it appears in your inbox.
    When you were losing your hobbies, that was definitely putting the career ahead of yourself. It is cool that you are enjoying your hobbies now, and even trying a new hobby with crochet. My main hobby is going to a gym and working out. 🏋‍♂I usually workout in the evening, and I am usually a bit tired when I start. But after pushing myself and a solid workout, wow, I have so much energy! 😀
    I like the way you use English and your English is excellent! And you have such a sweet and pretty voice! 💁‍♀

    Thank You, dear Mako...I have a personnal question for You... : If someone would come to You with an offer with a 9-5 Job in your field of studies with double the salary You earned before, would You just refuse straight away or would You consider the possibility to try again and see if the new environment fits You?...

    • @mylifeasmako
      @mylifeasmako  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think it depends on the responsibility and flexibility, I don’t think I would take it if I need to go to the office every week and so on… at least for now. But I’m not against a corporate job at all, I think it can be amazing if you find a 9-5 that fits you :)
