the Evo 4 is my favorite as well. Dreamed of converting my 97 Mirage into one, but had some sense knocked into me early on. I would have convert to AWD, swap from the 4G15 to 4G63 and convert to manual transmission. At this point, in a few years it might be eaiser to just import an actual Evo IV into the US. I probably never will, but it’s great knowing the possibility is there. I love all generations of the Evo though.
That front end has grown on me over the years. I used to not like these cars before evo 7 maybe 6. But over time they have grown on me and I appreciate them for what they are. I wouldn't mind having one in my collection

Man of culture; even that was the 1st movie with JDM cars related I ever watch way before the 1 F&F came in, and the last one to see alongside with my grandfather (RIP).
Live in the uk, only 13 left registered on the road here, bought the first one at 23 in 2003, then 5 years later I started looking for another clean one, the hunt took me 10 years and over 6k miles travelling to look at 8 others until I found the one, and home she came with me to join the family! 11 days later a Lexus driver got confused between the 2 pedals in her car and rear ended it whilst parking!!!! Unfortunately she has been sat in the workshop since as we piece by piece, panel by panel pull her apart, straighten and and refit as much of her original parts as possible until her former glory is returned, and at the same time she will be treated to a nice fresh engine build and some subtle toys! With the kind of passion involved with owning and maintaining two of these girls, it would probably be easier to give up one of my kids than one of my girls! Lol
JDM Masters, is the only channel i care about when profiling Japanese cars. No fluff,no lame played out car music you hear all the time,just facts and lots of information about the heritage of the companies we all love. Thank you JDM MASTERS 🙇

I owned a completely stock Lancer Evo 2 GSR back in 2010. It only had 63k kms. It was the second car I owned. I loved it!! I bought a set of Sprinthart cp-fs for it too.

Same dude. It was the early gran turismo games that put me on to them but the affair continued when I watched initial d. I remember being so excited when they finally announced the evo 8 was coming here but I couldn’t afford that in my late teens. Now over 40, I finally made the dream come true and purchased a legally imported Evo IV.
Even after a year of this video posting, it's still a relevant point of information, and knowledge in regards to classic JDM automobiles. Thank you JDM Masters for presenting this.

I dont recognized this before number 5. It was the movies from Jackie Chan which had taken my attention about the Evo's. And he made a lot movies since then. In Europe we had at this time Saab to fill the gap with special cars; Not awd cars but also very successful in racing and rally. Great footage as usual!
This thing was part of an era where Mitsubishi made amazing cars that were not only lighter than their competition but had more power too. It's like seeing a Type R with 450hp stock and weights less than 1550kg. If Honda ever makes a "lightweight" hybrid Type R that's also affordable like this EVO of the past.

Im not gonna lie. the Subaru STI was my first real indepth look into WRC via the NFS games and whatnot, but around that time I got into Initial D and the white Evo with MONSTAR always stuck with me. Light, fast, powerful, awd and the misfire system. they were truly formidable.

Mid 90s, AWD, 147kw from a 1.8l was amazing in our country (but what I read for it's time is the gearbox wasn't great so you couldn't put too much power in it, someone can correct me on that)! The Evo4 was the first I really noticed that was featured in the Chan movie, WHO AM I? I think the evo5 was the last I really liked for its time. The e6 I felt was getting a bit rice with the wing and front bumper ...
In Australia we got the GSR with the 1.8 litre, not the 4G63 and came with the same front and rear bars and a tiny bootlid spoiler as the base model Lancer. It was not an Evo 1, but was a VERY popular car to modify back then. We were able to Import the Evo 4, 5 and 6 from Japan and the 7 + could be bought new from Dealerships Genuine 1-3's are hard to come by here, there are far more of them in New Zealand
In Australia the GSR 1.8 came with a normal lancer front bumper, it's just that the owners changed them to Evo 1-3 front bars. The rear bumper bars are the same between all lancers including up to the Evo 3, except the rear pod attachments the Evo 3 had additonally. Australia was able to import any car easily up to the mid 2000s under the Personal Import Scheme as the car only had to be owned for 3 months before applying for a Vehicle Import Approval, now the Personal Import Scheme requires the owner to be overseas with the car for at least 1 year making it a lot harder to import a grey market vehicle. The TME RS2 and 8 GSR where available from Australian dealerships, Mitsubishi brought those in under the Low Volume Import Scheme unlike the 9 sedan which is a full volume import and can't be imported unless it's imported under the Personal Import Scheme. After the SEVs Scheme got introduced, 5-8MR are able to be imported as those had never been imported to Australia as a full volume import. Now that the importation rules finally got tweeked, 25 year old or older cars can be imported which allows for any Evo 1-3 to come in to Australia if it is of age and the Evo 4 will be able to be imported with ease from next year. The 9 wagon has finally received a green light due to the Low Volume Import Scheme being tweeked too, now it just requires a company to prepare a compliance package at the time of writing.
