I so enjoyed this episode! I have the same issue with my Nutiden! I think because it is so precious. I finally am swatching with a green and learning how to knit it. I am going between us sz 7&8 needles, double single strands and then a single strand with mohair to get a gauge of 18. Surprising me to no end is the single with mohair. I worried I wouldn’t have enough, so will not cut the in the round swatch. I want to make the Braids of Grass by Ailbiona. I love her patterns. I’m so scared lol. Lacking confidence for sure. I REALLY appreciate all your time you take to make these episodes. I also hope your surgery went as well as I think as you are already back to knitting!!! You had my prayers. I’m so interested in hearing what you will choose to knit in your Nutiden. I also bought 800 GM of Larkin. Such a gorgeous color. I can’t seem to let myself get less than 500 GM if a color I love. This yarn is sure different isn’t it? Thanks again
Hello friend! I could relate to so much from your chat. Thank you for enunciating that feeling of getting tired of working with a certain fibre and needing to switch between different ones! So true! Also I got here by way of doing a Nutiden search. You see, I had an almost spiritual experience when I saw a picture of a shawl made from the color “Pip’s Egg”. But I only have the natural “white” colorway. So I have been trying to find a mohair silk blend that I can hold double to give me a similar look but not having any luck.
Hi there! Even after a year I do feel the same about the fibre in my hands. If I don't switch it up it becomes tiresome! Pip's Egg colourway is stunning but way before my time as a knitter. It's got a transparent, ethereal teal shade almost like running water. I think if you were to hold a very light turquoise silk mohair with your white Nutiden it might give something similar?
I love the colors of your Nutiden. If you don't have enough of the color for your raglan, what about making it a color block with the orange color on top and brown on the bottom. (sorry, I don't know the color names.) And can I just mention that you have beautiful hands?
Thank you so much! No one has ever said that about my hands :-). I did initially think I would colour block but then decided against it as it would eat into the quantities I have of the Nutiden which I want to make into full garments if I can. I ended up frogging the raglan and casting on the yuiponcho by megcatknits which is a colourwork poncho and I'm really enjoying it :-)
Miss Evil came out with a lovely hooded poncho that is knit in unspun yarn that is really nice and you can use different colors. Knitting A Good Yarn Podcast episode 3 talks about it. It’s a free pattern too.
Yes I love her designs! The only thing is that she gives them out in a 'recipe' format which I have struggled to follow in the past. I think it's because I'm still a very new knitter and need the pattern format to follow. I can freestyle slightly but the idea has to come from my own head rather than someone else's. Once I become more experienced I will give following her recipes another shot though because they are lovely.
When you talk about a pattern can you flash a picture of it on the screen because it’s really hard to look it up while you are talking especially the spelling and keep up with what you are saying.
Thank you for your comment. I completely understand that it would be much easier to have a visual and I actually looked into seeing how something like that can be done when editing this video as I knew that I was going to be name dropping a lot of patterns and book names. Unfortunately I learned that the software I use and am familiar with (the Microsoft Video Editor) doesn't have that function at all. So for this video I basically made a whole list of all the patterns I mentioned in chronological order in the description box including the URL link to the pattern page to make it easier for anyone who wanted to view the pattern. But still it would be better if there was a picture flashing up on screen. If you know of a PC based free editing software that you can recommend that would be great. However, I think I might ask this is on my community tab for suggestions from subscribers.
Absolutely love the harden and amber held ❤️ together! Such a gorgeous color. Hope your poncho went well.
Thank you it is one of the more impactful shades I've got from Nutiden. The Yui Poncho is still a WIP but slowly getting there
I love your layered sweater and blue wrist warmers! Your combinations of yarn are amazing. Please post more 🙏🧶
Thank you for your kind words!
