    I've been knitting, drinking tea and watching your podcast again. Always so lovely and interesting. I suffer from burnout, so can relate to you not knowing when you will podcast again, just take your time and look after yourself first. Loved the beginning of your mustard colored top, it's going to be stunning !

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees I burst out laughing when I saw the woolyknit cones. I saw that promo but was not able to get it as I'm not local. But I had to restrain myself from adding to my WK mountain of cones. OMG - those cones made the 500g cones look like a spool of thread. It's a shame you're not a fan of the texture on your body. The upside is you have enough home-dec yarn to last many years.

    Hello from the coastal southeast of the US. I am a new subscriber and I am loving Manchelopi as well as Fair Isle knitting, and the algorithm sent me here. I just got some plates of unspun wool to knit a sweater. Love the channel!

    This has come along at the perfect time as I am looking at trying unspun soon. Looking at what I could knit in Manchelopis 🙏🏻🧶

      Thank you! I do hope it's helpful. I think the Miles Shirt Jacket (knit on 6mms) is a great pattern which has been designed in Manchelopis and a lot of the projects on the Ravelry page showcase it. There is also another recently released pattern by Jessica McDonald Designs called Winter Woods knit in 2 colours of Manchelopis on 4.5mms which is definitely on my radar. The Lumme (knit on 4.5-5.0mms) is an absolute delight and knitting up very nicely in Manchelopis as the main colour. I like knitting Manchelopis on 4.5-6.0mms so any pattern in that range should be good.

    I finally got a chance to watch this and this was such a treat. I had been saving this video because I've been so busy lately and wanted to watch this when I knew I would not be interrupted - it was the perfect companion as I knitted my Agnete cardigan. Your chaika sweater at 2:33:45 with the off white manchelopi and curry mohair is so beautiful - I love adding darker mohair to lighter yarn.
    I don't want to flood your comment section, so I'll try to keep this brief. 😃
    When it comes to knitting the body, I also find it overwhelming... seems like it's going to take months. What has worked for me is at the start of my knitting session that day, I just clip a locking stitch marker to the first row I knit and start knitting. Especially for the body, I give myself a goal of 4 rows for that day. More often than not, I knit a lot more than 4 rows. The next day, add a new progress keeper. I find that having a visual representation of my progress keeps me motivated to complete the body. Right now, I'm knitting the Agnete cardigan and it's brioche on US2.5 or 3mm needles. When I began this project, I thought it would take me months because it's my first time doing brioche and the gauge is so tiny. Those progress keepers have really helped.
    Petite Knit patterns: A year ago, I thought she was all hype. I was new to knitting and all I heard was PetiteKnit, My Favourite Things, Ranunculus, the usual. I just thought it was all hype until I decided to knit a pattern. I am a visual learner and she has someone on here - Kimmie Munkholm - who has detailed videos of all the major steps in her patterns. This has been very helpful and I have knitted the Ingrid, Champagne cardigan, and currently Agnete cardigan.
    Earlier, you said you changed the button band on a cardi you were knitting because you were unsure of how to create buttons. Sounds like it was a double-knitted button band. PetiteKnit had a video on it for the Champagne cardigan and it might help you with that. Beyond her videos, I feel her patterns are well-written and you learn different constructions and fit. Since you love bulky weight patterns, you could try the melange sweater, Terrazzo or one of her Sunday patterns. I have the Sandnes Garn pattern book and Guernsey is on my list. I think after knitting a few patterns from Scandinavian designers, it would be a lot easier to follow that pattern. Moby sweater may be on to try since you already have the Guernsey. April cardigan or Champagne cardigan might be a nice project for you.

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees IKR, plus size knitting takes so much longer and I'm also quite tall. I try to remember it's not a race and take it slow and steady - it will be worth it at the end. Even though I could be tempted to knit with bulkier yarn, I find it wears/pills much faster and also gives the garment too much bulk which may feel like I'm wearing a blanket.
      I think you'll like the Champagne cardigan - it's such a versatile garment. I find the shoulder construction more flattering than some round yoke cardigans. The April cardigan with a double-knit button band is another item in my queue. Although the double-knitted button bands take so much longer, I like the finished look.
      I'm currently knitting the Agnete cardigan and I like that the button band is knitted with the garment. Still looking for a drop shoulder v-neck cardigan and may blend both Champagne and Agnete patterns to create that. Or wait until PetiteKnit releases one. 😂

      I recently bought the Be Thankful Cardigan by Lily Kate Makes which is a V-neck drop shoulder cardigan. I love the look of it but it's bottom up though, which is why I haven't cast it on yet I think. I would love to see some of the makes you mention and I hope you start podcasting soon!

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees @Cedar Trees & Bumblebees Thanks for sharing that pattern. It is a beautiful cardigan - easily a closet staple for spring and summer. I think I've just entered my double-knitted button band phase and I'll have to incorporate that... especially if using lightweight yarn so it retains its structure. I need to do a palette cleanser before I knit another cardigan(completing cardi #3 in a row) and my fingers need a bit of a break from miles of purling. Stockholm V-neck or Moby are at the top of my list.

    New Subscriber here, So happy to have found your lovely podcast. You had so much content I was able to stretch it out over a few days and loved seeing everything you had to share. I just started working with Nutiden and I have decided I will forever have an unspun project on my needles. I wonder, would you say the fabric created with Lopi yarn is similar to Nutiden fabric? I mean the texture of rustic vs softness? I've never tried Icelandic wools before and was curious how it hold up as well with pilling over time? I've noticed my more rustic wools pill much less than my merino yarn sweater. Thank you for sharing all your project I can't wait to see updates on them in your next video.
    Also maybe for your spring sweater maybe you could slip every 5th stitch when you change colors? This way you could keep the stripes but add a bit more interest to them? Just an idea since you mentioned you were thinking of ideas. I do this with my Advent socks to add interest to self striping socks but it does change my gauge a bit but I also slip every other stitch I thought maybe for a sweater you should want it a bit more broken up.. Or you could slip 3 knit 3 slip 3, knit 3. Clearly I'm typing out thoughts as they come to me, who knows if they would actually look good.. just some ideas to get the imagination turning ;) Happy knitting, see you in the next podcast. -Jenn

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees Thank you so much for your very detailed reply it's helpful especially since I've not tried any other unspun yarns besides Nutiden. I've sent you a message on Instagram with a picture of socks I've done where I slipped the stitches so you can see the texture it creates. You have experience ordering Nutiden yarn. When you want to knit an entire garment out of one color, how much do you order?

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For my size (UK 24 - 130cm bust) I will order at least 700g for a non cropped garment using the one colour of Nutiden held double on 4.5-5mms. If you are a smaller size then you will obviously need less but for me 700g is pretty safe as long as I don't want an oversized or longer than normal garment.

    • @maryschartner4428
      @maryschartner4428 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees Thank you! I usually knit a 2XL for a 52 inch bust so 700g should suffice. I did order 800 grams because I did not want to run out but it sounds like I might be able to order less next time. I love that “ plum jam” color btw😍

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the Morker 2022 is a special colour! I've yet to decide what to do with it. You could probably knit quite a nice long cardigan with 800g
