A joy to watch as always. My goodness I can't get over your colorwork cardigan. It's like a piece of art!! Love the sweater you are wearing and that cowl looks amazing too! Thank you for sharing all your lovely makes. 😊💕🧶
Hello Nikki 😊 Florarium looks beautiful and I bet it will keep you warm during your cold winter 🥶 I am frogging a hat at the moment as it is too big for everyone in my family. This hat I knit a long time ago before I knew how important it is to do a swatch. Your Chestnut is coming along very well and the colours look amazing 🤩 I still need to start my Peony I plan to start in March. The cowl you working on looks gorgeous I am planning to learn colourwork this year so wish me luck 😂 The crochet bunting looks so cute this would looks really nice in my craft room might have to look at the pattern. I love buying books at thrift shops you never know what you will find and that’s the fun of it 😊 Wish you all the best and keep warm.
Thank-you so much for all the kind words Sylvia! Yes, swatching is a definite must for me now as it really does make all the difference. Colourwork is so fun and addictive and really looks so much harder than it actually is. I'm sure you'll master it in no time, and there are so many great TH-cam tutorials (as well as fellow knitters 😉) to help. I can't wait to see your Peony start to bloom in March 🥰
I ripped out an entire Ranunculus recently and am now reusing the yarn as a shawl. The yarn/colour/size of the Ranunculus didn't work so I had no issues frogging it. I just finished the Winter Lights cowl and am in love with it! Yours looks stunning as well.
I find it can be quite gratifying to frog something when it's just not working. Lovely to hear you've also made the Winter Light Cowl. What colours did you end up making yours in?
Hi Nicki, Wow, an entire cardigan with colourwork purling! I'm simply amazed. It's just beautiful, and an exercise in patience. 😁 That last book of needlecraft, although I glimpsed just a bit of the cover? I'm pretty sure I have the same one. It's the book that launched me into needlecraft, except I payed full price for it way back when. OMG, time flies. Nice to see you again.
Thanks Dominique! 🥰 Yeah sorry for the quick showing of the 3rd book--my camera stopped recording in between so it was a bit of mess trying to piece the video together at that part. But the name of the book is The Bantam Step-By-Step Book of Needle Craft. It seems to be a great book and I'm glad to hear it was quite useful. What types of needle crafts do you enjoy doing?
@@KnittingWithCatHair pretty much everything except sewing, although I did try it. I did cross-stitch , needlepoint, embroidery, crochet, tatting... and I don't know what else. I think I tried them all.😁 I still do cross-stitch and embroidery but not so much of the others. Oh, and no weaving, but I'd love to have a go at that.
Hehe you probably know by now that I hate frogging. Going back on my work breaks my heart, but I have recently learned how to get over this feeling when ripping back finished garments that I don't wear. I already salvaged yarn from two such projects and I discovered it can be exciting - it's like buying new yarn 😆
Sorry for the delayed response Magda! For some reason your comment got "held for review" and I'm only just seeing it now! I'm happy to hear you've made peace with frogging and hooray for "new" yarn 😂
Your colourwork knitting is fabulous, Nikki. I also find that patterned socks can be tight - once I knitted a rather intricate sock which turned out to be a bit tight, so I tried a simple design for the second. Much better, but I have yet to frog the first sock so I wear them anyway as a mis-matched pair. The yarn was a bit splitty so I was hesitant to rip out but I will ... when I have nothing else to knit. Right ...
So sad your honeycomb socks are goin away :( the yarn is such a pretty color. Your Marie Wallin cardigan is working up gorgeously and your tension looks perfect!
Thanks Bella 🥰 A viewer reminded me that superwash yarn grows with washing so before I frog the socks I might give them a wash and see what happens. Can't hurt! 💕
Oooo I love that that honeycomb sock yarn using hemp! How beautiful 🥰 Your cowl is a true showpiece, that Paton's is so lovely, isn't it? I have a couple in my stash too. Fun books! Thrifting is cool
Thanks so much Chrissy 😊 Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how lovely the Patons Classic Wool is! Definitely won't be the last time I knit with it. Thrifting is the best! Happy Making 🥰
Your Chestnut cardigan is beautiful! It's on my list as well, but I think I'm too scared to cast on. :D It is a big commitment. I don't have problem with frogging, sometimes it feels rather therapeutical. Thank you for another lovely episode! ❤️
Thanks Jana 🥰 I highly recommend knitting a Marie Wallin pattern. They're time-consuming for sure but very much worth the effort. I'm already planning out my next one 😂
I don't mind ripping back, I had to do it recently on the sweater I'm knitting now, the Worsted Knife Grinder's Daughter. I bought wool/alpaca from Hinterland Yarns out west (you should check them out), and now I'm sure that the wool must be thicker than regular worsted....the sweater was coming out humongous. I've not much experience at modifying, but for this I'm going down 2 sizes, and increased my needle size. I'm hoping for the best, as I love the pattern and the fabric that this yarn is producing. I finished my Covey socks yesterday...I don't usually block my socks but maybe I will with these as I'm curious as to what the result will be. Your Florarium is beautiful.
Thanks Sandra 🥰 Hinterland Yarns is on my ever-growing "Canadian yarns to-try" list 😊 I hope your sweater works out! Congrats on finishing your Covey socks--please keep me posted on how they wear 😉
Your Florarium looks beautiful, the colours suit you really well! I don’t like frogging, if I don’t like something I knitted, I chuck them in cupboard and try to forget about it (my hibernating projects 😞) one day I will have to dig them out and find a suitable pattern
Your Florarium is lovely! Thanks to your great tips on purchasing Nutiden, I was also able to buy some in their February shop update. I can't wait to start knitting with it.
@@KnittingWithCatHair, my plans are constantly changing, lol. I’m going to swatch it and then hopefully narrow down my choices. I have a feeling there will be more purchases of Nutiden in my future.
Thanks Naomi! Unfortunately the socks didn't actually fit my daughter so they may get frogged. Another viewer reminded me that superwash yarn grows with washing so I may try that before frogging them.
So sorry to hear about your socks. I’ve given up making texture on the foot of my socks. I only do the ankle/leg with a design. In the end, I’m happier anyway because the socks fit better in the shoes and no one sees the foot anyway. Yes, I rip out and either try again or do something else;no one ever says,”I regret ripping out and doing it again”
I love that Teti sweater! When you said kitchenered the armholes I cringed a little because I know what it is like to do technical work with nutiden (I had to do a tubular bindoff with it and learned a lot!). 😂Another way I learned to handle it is to add some twist to it and I seemed to have better luck with it not breaking when I did that.
Your florarium is gorgeous and it wouldn't be yours if an end wasn't peeking out haha The only frogs I like are in my marsh 😁 your kitties are going to be so happy with their new banner with tassels
That’s a shame that your socks were so tight, after all the work. Yep, being able to just go ahead and frog is generally the way I feel about projects that just aren’t panning out. I love the thrift store book finds- thrifting is so enjoyable 😊
I love frogging things! Haha if something I’m making isn’t working I take it out. I’d rather make something I love than have a UFO sitting in purgatory 😂 like always your knitting is always beautiful 💜
Thanks Deborah 🥰 I have found Nutiden to be softer than Plotulopi but I wear both next to skin so I'm not sure I'm the best person to offer an opinion. I will say that there are varying differences of softness between Nutiden colourways. Happy Making 🤗💕
So excited to try Nutiden. We're you able to become a patron? I went on the website and although it reads that there are no patreon spots if you click on one of the unlock boxes it seems like you can sign up for $5 a month.....I'm not sure if that's true?
Hi Micki. I've been a patron in the past however I am not currently one. i just had a look myself and did not see any openings so you may have to wait until they have some openings again. Good luck! 🤞
Hi Anita. As far as I know Nutiden is only available directly fron Honer och Eir www.honerocheir.nu/ I had no problems with the shipping and the price was quite reasonable but I'm not sure if things have changed since I purchased from them last summer. Good luck! 🥰
