I'll be honest, I liked Minuet in Hell BECAUSE of how messed up it was. It was almost refreshing to see Doctor Who doing something adult and mature. I also liked seeing my dude, my boy, my bestie, the Brigadier!
It's one of the reasons why I enjoyed it, although i should mention that I was primarilly a new who fan trying out the audios for the first time. FOr a new comer it was pretty hard to follow and a bit of a slog but when it hit it hit. Over all it was good but it was just so mean to Charley and the only purpose it served was to shout in all caps "LOOK HOW FRACKING EDGY AND GROWN UP WE ARE". Not the best reason to force the companion who is barely an adult to suffer sex slavery, so I dont like recommending it to someone to listen with out big flashing warning signs around it

But I think they handled the darker and more sensitive subjects of the episode with enough respect that it doesn't quite cross the line into problematic. (tho this is just my view of it and I could be wrong, and if you disagree feel free to tell me, I want to know and be respectful) Also, with the jerks running the circus that we call the American government, it was kinda depressingly accurate to how these clowns behave and maybe it was cathartic seeing the corrupt and creepy politician get vibe checked at the end and o lord the sex gas alien. that was certainly an episode lol
I watched that one with my dad. He's an early scifi nerd and when it got to that scene when they have her in a cell and Gwen makes out with her, he started shouting, "why aren't they quarantining her?! They don't know what this thing is or how it spreads. Gwen could be infected for all they know!". And I replied I think the bigger question is a) why is this thing straight when everyone is capable of orgasms, and b) who thought this was a good idea?
Love this video, it would be good to mention that, in some countries all the adventures you’ve listed so far are on Spotify for free, at least in the uk. Thank you for putting a spotlight on these great stories
thank you for this! i pretty recently finished everything up to and including Zagrues (and i cannot wait to see your review of it), and as a person who's first ever big finish stuff were the 8th doctor stuff, listening to Zagrues like this was one of the best fuckjing expiriances lol, is it good? hell if i know, but i know that i loved every second lol, i am about to jump into Scherzo right this second, thank you so much for getting me up to date and remember all of the details of past stories! really nice refresher for my brain! you pretty hit on the nose my thoughts on most of these, so thank you!

Fair but you gotta admit it's pretty insane. It's all over the place, but I think the main reason some don't like it is because it subverts expectations in the worst way. The cover looks like its a multi doctor special but it's anything but. Also I want an excuse to get my brother to sit through it.

I'm a huge fan of his, he's partially the reason I got into big finish in the first place so I've been avoiding rewatching his 8th doctor videos so as not to accidentally copy him. I haven't watched them in a couple years now. Based on the character he puts out in his videos (and just that character, he is a stranger to me, no parasocial relationshiping) we are fairly similar. Same age, same outlook on things, if his brexit videos are anything to go by we have similar political views and we are both pretty cynical, and I'm reviewing the same things he did so there will be some over lap. That's going to be unavoidable, but I do make an effort to ensure my takes and critiques are my own and that my videos are visually and tonally distinct from his. For example I only use MSpaint to convert eweb images to jpeg
Honestly I want to but I can't really justify the expense at the moment. Even there earlier ones are $9.18aud and the later ones are in the 50s. Maybe after I get to 1000 and start monetising my content...
Zagreus is the fucking weirdest doctor who story I've ever experienced, and not necessarily in a good way. I do still kinda love it though, flaws and all.
