Despite Nintendo's attempt to make them less scary I'm sticking with the zombie background. Those in Wind Waker could be clay, given their odd bluish-green color, however some are found in coffins that fit them quite nicely. Those in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess have more of the gooey mummy look to them, a definite human-like appearance that shows ribs on one version and armor on the other. It is worth noting that the ones in Twilight Princess were called Gibdos in some translations, and indeed they look like a hybrid of the two.
some have thought that the ReDeads in Wind Waker are blue, due to a reference of being drowned. You know the idea that bodies turn blue when they are left underwater too long. Could be... but maybe not. Welcome to the channel! Cheers!
I'm still thinking it's just burial rites. The clay-"sification" is a way of conserving the body intact from decomposition, so, redeads are just clay and bones, clay is their new flesh. Many myths from various religions are saying that the first men were made out of clay ... But, convering them with clay make them faceless, so they put a Mask on the deads, some sort of Pareidolia, someone with a face is seeing as an induvidual for our brains, the wooden mask is here for. The Gibdo's bandages were made to make the clay-covered corpse completly dry, like for egyptian mummies, conservation at its top. They were put in stone coffin, in OOT, they're is only Gibdos inside ... I think that redeads are Gibdos who haven't a coffin, losing their bandages into the wet water on the underground, maybe poor peoples unable to pay for a top-class burial. That was for the burial of a dead person, but when did they became a redead/Gibdo ? I believe that Redeads are empty corspes, empty from any soul, they are just corspe, empty shells. Some sort of dark energy entered them and making them move. They are completly empty and do not posses any sort intelligence, but they are very hungry for life. Their hunger could be from their state of empty shell, they try to fulfill themself with life again. Their paralyzing sreams that they use to hunt you, I think this is some sort of death scream that paralyses anything alive, a curse, from the scare of death. A non-burialized body can become a Zombie, also an unintelligent undead hungry for life, the CursedBokoblin are zombies, they are also cursed by dark energy. They're multiple type of redeads, in the games: -The one in Twilight Princess, most of them are from Arbiter's Ground, but if we look closely, they wear pieces of armors and of a red cap, it's possible that they were the Knights of Hyrule that had fought the Dark Interlopers during the Era of Chaos, Stallord also summon stal soldiers that were probably the ones who killed him when he was alive as a Demon, those redeads were probably put there as anti-intruders. - The one in TWW are found in the Earth Temple, they look like the giant statue in the Temple, maybe it was a ritual for the Earth God, probably a God of the underworld. But, did they also have a burial mask ? If yes, where is it ? Well, Poes does possess masks, maybe for each redeads, there is a Masked Poe, their Soul turned into a dark Spirit. -In Majora's Mask and Tri Force Heroes, they are pretty much the same as the one in Ocarina of Time ... But, it's implied that the dead curse of Ikana transforms peoples into Gibdos. - There are regular Gibdos that didn't contain a redead but just a Stalfos, and they can't freeze you with a scream ... Stalfos ... undead skelletons, those moving bones are also interesting. What are they ? I think there is two type of Stals, those who are still themself, having their soul, like the Pirates and captains in the oracle games or Tingle Rupeeland. And the dark ones, inhabited by dark magic, cursed bones. Stalfos appears to be demonic, in Twilight Princess they doesn't look like Humans, and in Skyward Sword, the Master Stalfos have four arms, I think it is part of their dark transformation that changes the shape of their bones. Only the head seems to contain something, the boss Stalchampion in TFH have a red pearl, this red pearl is on the Master stalfos forehead too, I believe this is the "core" containing the dark energy, Stals in Botw, can share the same head but when it is destroyed, they all died, Bubbles are just Skulls of Stalfos ... I believe that the dark energy that revived the deads is Malice, in Botw, the malice jaws thing vomits bubbles, they are said to be empty, devoid of anything they were as living beings. Malice try to get a body and move by itself. It's possible that the curse put on the lost woods was made by the Malice, maybe the same sort of curse Bellum put on the Temple of the ocean King, stealing the life of who entered it, with the Skull Mask on, some kokiris are talking about a Ghost of the Forest, but, maybe not so much in the english version ... I believe than this Ghost was Phantom Ganon before being Phantom Ganon, a demonic spirit summoned by the Poe Sisters when they were alive, summoned from the other world, this Ghost eats the life of humans entering the woods, but is unable to attack the Kokiris because of their Fairies protection. The dead corpse is then turned into a Stalfos slave. Children, having a pure golden heart, can't transform into Stals, and reborn as Forest Spirits, Skull Kids. Ganondorf just put his face on it. Maybe has this Ghost is capable of entering paintings, Ganondorf used his self portrait to make him into himself...
For years I thought it was canon that Ganondorf created the ReDeads with magic, but I just read that that information actually comes from SSBM, so it's not exactly canon. Interesting.
I listen to these theories in the background, so everytime I click back to the video expecting to see visuals for what's being talked about, I'm instead met with Dark Link back flipping in a corner of the temple of time xD

Nonoctoro golems and homunculi are often artificial bodies with a soul trapped inside. Must be something there, some sort of spirit or force -- an intelligence -- that makes them sensitive to people nearby.
Nonoctoro I'm talking out of game. Golem are artificial creatures made of clay that are made as subhuman servants or to fill some other, special role of their creators.
TGL Mudora Yeah, I know what you are talking about, the ones from Jewish Mythology, with EMETH or YHWH written on them. Well, in the myth, the rabbi (not Jacob) erased the letter aleph ℵ( my favorite and the best letter from the hebrew Alphabet) and made the word Death "METH", and the Golem died. I really thought you were going to talk about the mythology around golems when I saw the title about clay. I’m know they’re made of that then a symbol is drawn on them to bring them to life, and they have to obey whomever did so.
I do really like the idea, I had totally forgotten about that when one the train of thought. Makes the army idea much more reasonable. Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya The Queen of Sevens!
So I'm just watching this video for the first time, and my first thought I had in all of this was from an anime called Inuyasha. In feudal Japan there was an ogress who would fire clay in the shape of humans in a magic kiln, using human bones and graveyard soul, and would Place human Souls in the bodies to animate them. This ogress (Urasue) made an army of clay soldiers that she could comman, as well as reserecting rhe priestess Kikyo from clay. So I imagine this being a reference to such Japanese dark magic as this. It could be that the ghost catcher is the one catching the souls to put into the clay dummies, or "redeads"
lol it just kind of became a thing, though once the fish flew into the air, that was pretty fun... and no I am not kidding at all it literally floated away XD it was in Lake Hylia
Hey man, I found your theory videos yesterday because I needed something to listen to at work. I never really watch this kind of stuff and I haven't played zelda in years but I gave you a chance and I just have to say that I love these theory videos and they make work a lot better
glad to hear! I work graveyard so I have a lot of time to listen to stuff... so I really get this comment! Welcome to the channel Henrik Persson, glad to have ya!
In regard to what happens after a re-dead dies, I think they mourn when they are surrounding a fellow comrade, b/c they do things in unison in Majora's Mask.
makes sense, there seems to the be a lot of conflict as to what they are actually doing then. I always thought they were mourning as well, but others like the idea they are consuming the corpse for nourishment. This point makes me believe more they are mourning :) Welcome to the channel JC!
What about the guy who had something happen to him n he was turning into a gibdo thing?...… And the ones circling outside the house telling link to bring them n calling them friends..... so clearly based on this they're definitely not clay but leathery rotten dead people n the guy who you end up saving and getting the gibdo mask was on his way to becoming one of them after..... being bitten or having some kind of curse in which he would likely also become a redead himself wrapped in bandages upon completion of the curse itself...……………………..
He is an interesting case huh? I kind of wonder why he would go through the trouble of wrapping himself in bandages... maybe it was his daughters attempt at bandaging him up? or maybe he was covering up the rotten parts? Good thoughts, welcome to the channel That Guy!
lol sometimes the game freaks out. One time it just floated away instead of going into the water... also I just think it is funny to drop small creatures on the most dangerous enemies of Hyrule XD
I know it's late but what if the re dead are actually empty clay shells with souls from the shadow temple shoved inside forever living in there own fears and what the re dead aka the soul sees is actually terrifying and they try to attack you to save themselves trying to survive
My theory, Redead in Ocarina are just clay, soulless golems animated by Ganon's magic or magic of the Overworld (as such is the case in the graveyard)shift , nothing more, nothing less. The trophy description of Redead in Smash Bros. Melee supports this. However, I do believe Redead were people who died, decomposed, and arose once again as skeletons covered in non-hardened clay in Majora. Either that or they were cursed and slowly turned into Redead/Gibdos as such was the case with Pamela's father. In-game we learn that the Redead in Ikana castle dance because they were once the royal dancing troupe that would perform in Ikana Castle indicating that at one point they were indeed once alive. What makes them wander the land now is the power of Majora's Mask and the curse of the land of Ikana.
If you recall, the redeads in Majora’s Mask contradict Nintendo’s retcon. They were the royal Ikana dancers and they literally lived in the land of the dead.
Can't really call it a "Nintendo retcon" to begin with. Smash trophies should not be taken super seriously, more so when they contradict actual game lore or if it's never been stated. Redeads in Wind Waker are described as "Undead creatures" in their figurine description. So they are just that...undead. AKA not clay creatures.
3:31 but, the royal Family isn't evil ... This is just a conspiracy, they are trying their best for peace in the kingdom of Hyrule. If the King didn't believes Zelda, it was because he was blinded by the idea of peace after the war, and saw Ganondorf as a close friend. I believe the King in Ocarina of Time is actually Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule himself. Making his relationship with Ganondorf a lot deeper.
Hey my dude. I made a video about ReDead like a year ago, but just recently one of my commenters pointed out that there is some actual proof in terms of the ReDead being clay (I had assumed they were not). Nintendo Power Issue 112, September 1998, Page 53. It is some preview stuff for the game, and when it is talking about the graveyard, it says the following: ""Another enemy has the ghoulish name of "ReDead. This foe takes the form of a mud doll that can paralyze its victims with a look from its evil eyes." Check it out! This predates the game itself so it sure could be right.
The Majoras Mask ReDeads in the Ikana Castle dance however.. This might suggest some kind of duty they had if were living at one point? Also it kind of makes sense about the heat part assuming the Sun song might have something to do with them getting stunned for a short period of time.
Wohltat They were the royal dancers of Ikana Kingdom, they are doing what they were always doing. The sun is light and, as beings from the shadow, they are weak to it.
Makes sense, there have been a few comments using this idea that they all dance in unison to suggest they are mourning their lost friend rather than eating their body when one dies. :) Cheers!
Maybe...but if they were empty husks I don't see how they'd have the will to do anything. If that's the case I think they're just controlled by other beings with magic.
In Ocarina of time they do look like they can be somewhat made of clay. How ever if you look at games like Twilight Princess there is no way they can be made of clay. They look more like a decomposed body wrapped in toilet paper.
true, I was actually thinking about that the other day as well. I find it interesting that they are also ReDead Knights... Maybe there was a sort of tier system to their mummification?
Couple notes on the gameplay-- yes, after the N64 it was possible to jump at them, and even if they tried to stop you in mid-air as long as you hit them before you touch the ground (and there's only one of them) then your attack cancels theirs. Also, in Oc o' Time, you mention "weakness to fire" which is true, 2x Din's Fire defeats ReD's and 1x defeats Gib's, but I'd add that Fire (...and Light) Arrows do nothing to either, and that burning a Gibdo (I think; I tried it recently) only works in Majora, though they still behave as Gib's and not ReD's (since in that game, they differentiated them more); might also be a fun side note that in some of the 2D games, burning Gibdos reveals Stalfos, who in those games are considerably weaker than the 3D titles' ones (and Gibdos are just wandering brutes rather than... a ReDead with clothes on).
Wouldn't they also slowly boil to death is put into a kiln? love your Zelda theories, BTW (more specifically OOT, but that's because it's my favourite game)
Good question, someone said that they clay might explode (probably not in any fun way) with too much moisture inside. Maybe the face hole is where the clay usually broke and the masks were there to rectify this issue. Thanks a bunch, glad to have ya Daveth! I try to make all of my videos awesome! :D
Well, I still imagine them dying slowly and painfully....so with that theory, it'd be like zombies animated by magic clay? ugh, creepy, Also love your channel, I saw your Zelda oot nightmare play through years ago when I tried to install it (I always crashed at dodongo's cavern) and I've been trying to find you since, lol.
The clay pots the Link can constantly destroy or (ab)use by setting them on switches for eternity are finally getting their revenge! I always tune into these Zelda Theory videos of yours NBK. Maybe the only surefire youtuber who I will for sure watch, at least your theory content.
lol that first part made me giggle. Thanks for sticking around, I know my other content isn't interesting to everyone though I do try to make it awesome as well! Glad to have ya around T Bone Cheers!
Interesting to hear your thoughts on this. Personally I dont like the retcon Nintendo did. It made more sense as undead. But thank you again for a great video NBK! Also congrats on the new patron and on 7K!!
You can't even call it a "Nintendo retcon." This is solely from Smash. Any lore from Smash should not be taken super seriously, more so when they contradict actual game lore or if it's never actually been stated. Redeads in Wind Waker are described as "Undead creatures" in their figurine description. So they are just that...undead. AKA not clay creatures. And WW came out after Melee.
I take it you never heard of the Golem, Clay in many cultures has been seen as a useful binder of life fired or wet. Golems were typically made from unfired clay that had a life force of some kind placed within through either Magic, Alchemy, or divine ritual. Then there are the Terracotta warriors of the Orient which were fired clay statues that were buried by the hundreds all meant to keep watch on the spirits of the kings and they were meant to heed the call of battle if ever called. Clay bound with a soul that is the typical Golem though unlike Golems the ReDead are destroyers not protectors.
Interesting, in some cases they could be seen as protectors sick as in the royal families grave. Not sure that was their intention, but still this makes a lot of sense, welcome to the channel!
You can't fire clay with a living body inside. When you fire clay the moisture inside tries to escape and if there is to much moisture inside then the clay will literally explode. To avoid this clay sculptures are usually hollowed out or very small. I don't much like the idea of redeads being clay but if they are then their just weird golems and that's not very interesting at all, and if they're made of clay with a person inside more messed up than just reanimating the dead and the opposite of what Nintendo intended with that retcon
It's pretty violent. The outside hardens up trapping the water inside and as it tries to expand and can't the pressure builds till it burst sending the hard outside pieces flying.
I love it! This might make the wooden mask make more sense, if they made a weakness in the face area to force the explosion there or something. They would be able to use this mask to cover up the hole the explosion made... well and make a super spooky visage in the process.
I never really liked the little ones, I also wasn't aware for the longest time if you just didn't move, you were okay. lol that knowledge helped a lot. Welcome to the channel Tosmasta00, glad to have ya!
I was thinking that redeads are based on japanese haniwa sculptures in the kofun period, which were made of clay and were made for the deceased. Search it up.
Possible idea: Redeads are some sorta Mobile Haniwa that sucks your soul out into its body. Both would be made of clay and both are found in burial areas.
Consider the villager "Coco" is implied to be a Rabbit Gyroid which in turn look similar to a Redeads Face which in turn is based on these "Soul Jars."perhaps there's a connection.
It is interesting to think about. I mean... if the mask is made of solid wood, even with the teeth on the other side the amount of damage they could do is relatively small when compared to other injuries Link would sustain. Falling rocks, sword slashes, etc. So having your soul sucked out would give a solid place for the damage to come from! Great idea!
In Wind Waker, the Redead figurine describes them as "undead creatures." So they are just that...undead. Ie. More specifically zombies...Aka not clay creatures.
I always thought they where the dead🤷 Even as a child. This is new to me and I don't know how I feel about Redeads being made out of clay😂 no just nooo they are mummies/zombies
I still think they are just zombies. you find them in a sealed stone coffin under the well. plus a gibdo is a redead as well. tho I do like the idea that they are a mix of a skeleton and clay, makes sense that they would freeze in sunlight.
Truth be told, these ideas were pretty out there, though it is fun to let your imagination wander every once in a while! Welcome to the channel Paul McAllister, glad to have ya!
This is a neat idea, and it's fun to ponder, but I don't think they are actually made of clay. In terms of Nintendo's canon, there are two pieces of evidence for this. 1) The source for "they're made of clay" is Super Smash Bros, which is non-canonical and says that they "appear to be clay monsters." 2) Both OoT and MM strongly imply (if not outright state) that they are undead. They look fairly similar to naturally mummified corpses (as opposed to ritualistically mummified corpses, like mummies --> Gibdos). The only canon game that really seems to support the clay concept is TriForce Heroes, based on the zelda wiki; however, this is one I haven't played so I can't speak much to that either way. I do really like this type of video; video essays leading up to the creator's conclusion are fun, but this style gets me more engaged with the idea.
I like the idea for that area, makes you think why he would be having these hallucinations in the Shadow Temple and Bottom of the Well. Possible connection to his family and he somehow knows it? Maybe it is something the wielder of the Triforce of Courage is cursed with to test their mettle? Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya Aries!
Interesting theory. But flawed Play Majora's Mask. Get the Captain's Hat. Go through Ikana. Then explain their reactions Or, play Twilight Princess. Go to the Arbiter's Grounds. Explain their looks and outfits Definitely not animated clay, definitely not tortured prisoners. Definitely burial rituals of some kind, likely including magic or a curse
newbornkilik I actually forget specifically why I asked at this point. I think it had something to do with your channel being a nintendo gaming channel yet Ive seen no pokemon videos. Lol I love all the games you cover but I guess I was curious about pokemon.
Sure thing, my schedule has been pretty inconsistent recently so I have only been doing the Super Mario 64 Ocarina of Time Crossover. Though a while back I had a stream of a modded Pokemon game that was quite..... an interesting trip XD
newbornkilik lol you gotta do what you gotta do! I love pokemon content just as much as I love Super Mario or LoZ. I love the games, the anime, the cards, etc. I’ve been trying to fill the Alola dex and Hoenn dex in OrAs for the last few months. I just finished Alola and am more than 75% on Alpha Sapphire. I never used to fill my dex, now I think its so fun! Anyway, if you post pokemon content, I’ll def watch it.
lol this gameplay is the future! XD I kid, really I have just played these games so many times that I like to do dumb things that I think are fun to watch and really make you ask "Why did he just do that?" lol Welcome to the channel Jakob Holt, cheers!
Right? but hey you know in this game where there are skeletons, bosses with missing heads, and a literal river of souls... we can't have zombies! XD Cheers!
Despite Nintendo's attempt to make them less scary I'm sticking with the zombie background. Those in Wind Waker could be clay, given their odd bluish-green color, however some are found in coffins that fit them quite nicely. Those in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess have more of the gooey mummy look to them, a definite human-like appearance that shows ribs on one version and armor on the other. some have thought that the ReDeads in Wind Waker are blue, due to a reference of being drowned. You know the idea that bodies turn blue when they are left underwater too long. Could be... but maybe not. Welcome to the channel! Cheers!
In Wind Waker, you should read their figurine. It states that they are "Undead creatures." So they are just that: Undead. Aka no clay monsters.
They're multiple type of redeads, in the games:
-The one in Twilight Princess, most of them are from Arbiter's Ground, but if we look closely, they wear pieces of armors and of a red cap, it's possible that they were the Knights of Hyrule that had fought the Dark Interlopers during the Era of Chaos, Stallord also summon stal soldiers that were probably the ones who killed him when he was alive as a Demon, those redeads were probably put there as anti-intruders.
Nonoctoro This is quite the long comment. I like it. I enjoy when people share their thoughts.
lol still waiting on those theory videos of yours, they would be a treat to watch XD good thoughts as always Nonoctoro!
newbornkilik Thanks !
Well, maybe some days.
In fact, I was thinking of that, recently ...
And I have a lot of content from my ZU threads.
For years I thought it was canon that Ganondorf created the ReDeads with magic, but I just read that that information actually comes from SSBM, so it's not exactly canon. Interesting.
Keanine Maybe those from Castle Town, but those from Kakarico graveyard, they were made by Hylisns or Sheikahs .... or with.
I listen to these theories in the background, so everytime I click back to the video expecting to see visuals for what's being talked about, I'm instead met with Dark Link back flipping in a corner of the temple of time xD
Creepy Forest Temple music gets me every time.
it is very unique and spooky :P Welcome to the channel! Cheers!
What's with all the zelda theory people always using footage of unrelated bugs and glitches? Just an observation
Interesting lol it seems like every second or third comment is hinting it that it's a strange thing to do XD Cheers!
ReDead could be Hyrule's Golems; clay homunculi. Their programmed to feast on life force. Perhaps the shriek comes from the soul trapped inside the clay vessel? Poe don't have any lungs, but they can screech and make noise too.
I don't think those things has a soul, they seem empty.
Nonoctoro golems and homunculi are often artificial bodies with a soul trapped inside. Must be something there, some sort of spirit or force -- an intelligence -- that makes them sensitive to people nearby.

been binge watching all of your stuff lol and I LOVE IT!
glad you enjoyed it, thanks for checking it out nah nah, welcome to the channel!
Ahh that scream ... Great times .
lol they are not nearly as bad once you know you can just walk around them... even touching them and they don't mind.
Those screams... the first nightmare fuel of my childhood.
I don't remember a Shadow Link being in the Temple of Time.
Lol I'm using some codes for that extra spicy gameplay. Cheers!
So I'm just watching this video for the first time, and my first thought I had in all of this was from an anime called Inuyasha. This is an interesting idea! The fact that the bow Poe guy exists is very convenient.
Why are so many of these background clips just clips of Link dropping fish everywhere? I'm so confused.
lol it just kind of became a thing, though once the fish flew into the air, that was pretty fun... and no I am not kidding at all it literally floated away XD it was in Lake Hylia
So you're just gonna drop fish on enemies and walk off like that. Disrespectful everybody.
Bit late to this train. However, for the redead's shriek.... There was a Mayan instrument found that sounds eeriely like a scream
Interesting, I had no idea lol
@@newbornkilik small mistake, it's actually Aztec, and it's called the Aztec death whistle. th-cam.com/video/RGQ1x5r-LCQ/w-d-xo.html
Why there a fish flying up ?
Hey man, I found your theory videos yesterday because I needed something to listen to at work.

So what you’re saying is that the ReDeads are the same as the Golems from Dragon Age Origins. Gotcha.
lol good game!
What is up with the damn fish dropping!?
lol sometimes the game freaks out. One time it just floated away instead of going into the water... also I just think it is funny to drop small creatures on the most dangerous enemies of Hyrule XD
With all due respect, now, if they WERE clay monsters how is it they bite at Link's head or neck?
Maybe they feel they are needed to defend their homeland once again against the evil of Majora's Mask? Good points!
If you recall, the redeads in Majora’s Mask contradict Nintendo’s retcon. They were the royal Ikana dancers and they literally lived in the land of the dead.
Good point, the retcon was also from Smash... so it could be total BS XDwelcome to the channel Andrew Healis!
It is some preview stuff for the game, and when it is talking about the graveyard, it says the following:
""Another enemy has the ghoulish name of "ReDead. This foe takes the form of a mud doll that can paralyze its victims with a look from its evil eyes."
Check it out! This predates the game itself so it sure could be right.
Neat!
I think the Redead are Poes trapped in clay bodies, Kabbalah style.
a solid idea, they do vanish after a while unless you put them in a vessel!
The scream is the sound of the person inside's shrieks of being burned alive.
i read the thumbnail as redheads are clay
The Majoras Mask ReDeads in the Ikana Castle dance however.. This might suggest some kind of duty they had if were living at one point? Also it kind of makes sense about the heat part assuming the Sun song might have something to do with them getting stunned for a short period of time.
Wohltat
They were the royal dancers of Ikana Kingdom, they are doing what they were always doing.
The sun is light and, as beings from the shadow, they are weak to it.
Makes sense, there have been a few comments using this idea that they all dance in unison to suggest they are mourning their lost friend rather than eating their body when one dies. :) Cheers!
Interesting thoughts. Maybe N64 Redeads are clay bodies that contain the trapped ghosts/souls/spirits of dead people.
I don't think so ...
I think they are empty, that's why they are trying to eat us, full of life, with a soul.
Maybe their souls became Poes.
Maybe...but if they were empty husks I don't see how they'd have the will to do anything. If that's the case I think they're just controlled by other beings with magic.
Redeads and pots aren't this different, after all. (Lol)
+Nonoctoro just smash em both!
In Ocarina of time they do look like they can be somewhat made of clay.
How ever if you look at games like Twilight Princess there is no way they can be made of clay. They look more like a decomposed body wrapped in toilet paper.
Yes, the clay thing could an alternate sort of mummification.
Remplacing the flesh by clay.
true, I was actually thinking about that the other day as well. I find it interesting that they are also ReDead Knights... Maybe there was a sort of tier system to their mummification?
welcome to the channel by the way!
I always saw it as them being a mix of Gibdo and Redead in twilight princess
Couple notes on the gameplay--
yes, after the N64 it was possible to jump at them, and even if they tried to stop you in mid-air as long as you hit them before you touch the ground (and there's only one of them) then your attack cancels theirs.
Navi tel you to not look at them in the eyes because their sight can paralyze you.
They're probably based on Haniwa so they may be animated soul prison urn things.
I just looked up what those were, and I must say... I think that is spot on! Good thoughts, welcome to the channel, glad to have ya Norah T!
Your regular and lp content is good too I just don't "Insta-click" it like this content.
5:36 Well, there's a lot of magically animated beings made from inanimate objects that can talk, so...
How many times have you actually dropped the fish?
Hmm... Not sure, I can tell you how many times it has floated into the sky though... Only once XD
Can you leave the poor fish alone? lmao
he is my warrior! XD Welcome to the channel. cheers!
Redeads being 2 different beings (possibly) makes them all the more terrifying for some reason
I agree! While it is a bit out there, if we are going for spooky factor... that idea is top notch! XD
Interesting to hear your thoughts on this.
Personally I dont like the retcon Nintendo did. It made more sense as undead.
But thank you again for a great video NBK!
Also congrats on the new patron and on 7K!!
It was also from Smash... so there are some inconsistencies. but still, fun to think about!
newbornkilik oh absolutely! And makes you wonder, could they be changing it to finagle the story in the future? Like, long term minor retcons?
@@newbornkilik Indeed maybe they were, but then they were corrupted. Thank you for the welcome.
You can't fire clay with a living body inside. When you fire clay the moisture inside tries to escape and if there is to much moisture inside then the clay will literally explode. To avoid this clay sculptures are usually hollowed out or very small. I don't much like the idea of redeads being clay but if they are then their just weird golems and that's not very interesting at all, and if they're made of clay with a person inside more messed up than just reanimating the dead and the opposite of what Nintendo intended with that retcon
it would explode? That is an awesome idea, is it a fairly tame process or relatively violent.
It's pretty violent. The outside hardens up trapping the water inside and as it tries to expand and can't the pressure builds till it burst sending the hard outside pieces flying.
Darius Patrick I feel like buying clay now.
I love it! This might make the wooden mask make more sense, if they made a weakness in the face area to force the explosion there or something. They would be able to use this mask to cover up the hole the explosion made... well and make a super spooky visage in the process.
@@newbornkilik heck there scream could be air releasing instead of a scream and they can use it too their advantage to stun prey
Honestly i was never scared of Redeads as a kid but Skulltulas did scare me.
I never really liked the little ones, I also wasn't aware for the longest time if you just didn't move, you were okay. lol that knowledge helped a lot. Welcome to the channel Tosmasta00, glad to have ya!
Another great video 👍🏻
cheers!
Interresting idea !
I'm getting some Animal Crossing vibes, here ...
Consider the villager "Coco" is implied to be a Rabbit Gyroid which in turn look similar to a Redeads Face which in turn is based on these "Soul Jars."perhaps there's a connection.
But what about the Gibdos ? They are just mummies.
Are they? oooooooooor are the wrappings keeping the moisture in the clay? Which would also protect it and make it tougher to combat.
Great idea!
I think they just waited till the remains decayed enough to bone then put clay on the skeleton to use as flesh
Interesting thought
In Wind Waker, the Redead figurine describes them as "undead creatures." So they are just that...undead. Ie. More specifically zombies...Aka not clay creatures.
I always thought they where the dead🤷 Even as a child. This is new to me and I don't know how I feel about Redeads being made out of clay😂 no just nooo they are mummies/zombies
It is a strange retcon, I mean zombies are already established in popular media so I never really saw why it was such a big deal. Lol
yess another awsome video!!!
+H3KX thanks a bunch! Glad to have ya!
great video!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I haven't player Triforce Heroes either, so I'm not sure. Welcome to the channel, cheers!
Why u keep dropping f i s h y
Freedom of thought in action 😁
+Inthe666 lol true, not much proof but the train of thought just didn't stop with this one, welcome to the channel by the way!
what if there delusions made by link to fill the empty space in Hyrule Castle Town
I like the idea for that area, makes you think why he would be having these hallucinations in the Shadow Temple and Bottom of the Well. Possible connection to his family and he somehow knows it? Maybe it is something the wielder of the Triforce of Courage is cursed with to test their mettle? Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya Aries!
newbornkilik we should do a colab vid on the topic
newbornkilik maybe link is hallucinating in the shadow temple because he worries about impa's safty
What if
Okay hear me out
Posessed ass clay taking human form
Interesting theory. But flawed
Play Majora's Mask. Get the Captain's Hat. Go through Ikana. Then explain their reactions
Or, play Twilight Princess. Go to the Arbiter's Grounds. Explain their looks and outfits
Definitely not animated clay, definitely not tortured prisoners. Definitely burial rituals of some kind, likely including magic or a curse
Well look the ones in Twilight Princess closer ....
they're pieces of amor on them ....
Rude Comment
Oof ya got me XD
@@newbornkilik XD I cant be the only one who's said that haha.
They’re the Zelda version of Zombies dude
Interesting
nah trust me. its better that they're zombies... makes it more dark. Cuz they're weak to fire and light.
Like a golem from the Hebrew mythology?
Do you play Pokémon?
I haven't in a while, but I actually just released a video on a Pokemon Trollpasta, what makes you ask?
newbornkilik I actually forget specifically why I asked at this point.
@@PittsburghSonido Alola Dex in ORAS? Wut?
Alright, I've been wondering this for a while. What the FUCK is that gameplay?
lol this gameplay is the future! XD I kid, really I have just played these games so many times that I like to do dumb things that I think are fun to watch and really make you ask "Why did he just do that?" lol Welcome to the channel Jakob Holt, cheers!
It fucking works! Good shit my dude! Xp
I like yo vids
Kurffy your*
glad you enjoyed it, thanks for checking it out Kurffy, welcome to the channel!
This whole retcon is just stupid. Like we have gibdos, the zombie knights indtp and the ww zombie and you cant tell me that those are clay
Right? but hey you know in this game where there are skeletons, bosses with missing heads, and a literal river of souls... we can't have zombies! XD Cheers!
They are zombies
first
+H3KX woot! Well done!
What the fuck is wrong with the gameplay 🤣
