We tried to order a model Y standard range from our local dealer in NC last week and were told it wasn’t available to order.
How will follow the leader work when the first semi goes through the yellow traffic light? By the time it goes through that light, it will have turned red before the second truck can make it. What if there's a traffic issue and police or road workers are redirecting vehicles? How will they be able to redirect vehicles without drivers?

Toyota invested 150 Million in Tesla when Tesla was a smaller company but they sold their shares. I think this won't happen

Tesla are already better at production, Tesla may licence the software, maybe motors as Toyota will never get there on their own.

Ryan, do you know if Tesla roofs have been sold on NEW construction?
Seems to me that cost control would be a lot easier on new construction because so many homes in housing tracts are the same.
It is possible they could have installed the giant press to create the overall sized parts for the Cybertruck and still not have the press plates in to form the panels themselves. Typically a press would have the ability to change plates over to form other parts i.e., doors instead of hoods.
Love to get a model Y but not available in Australia yet. Model 3 standard range+ starts at $69000 here and have little in the way of incentives. Unfortunately our Government doesn't believe in it. So for now still out of reach for me at the moment. Love the chanel. Good work!

Great content as always! Wife and I each have a Model Y and live in MN. Is there any other winter drivers out there who experienced scary sliding from the regen brakes on ice / snow? I'd really like the option to either decrease regen power or turn off completely for winter driving. When we bought the first Y in November there was still the option to decrease regen, that was taken away in December update.

I was going to buy a MY SR while it was in stock at a $40,000 price point. Eventually went for LR AWD at $50,000 (plus some extra features). Still not sure if the extra 20% in price is worth the 30% extra range and extra 2nd motor. But I do like how how it drives!

The green elite folks will. Cost will come down in years to come. Cultural pressure will continually incentivize green energy and likely offer rebates. I listened to another analyst who showed that demand was high. Have to double check though! But yes, a pretty penny!

What would smart shift do in a situation where you could go reverse or forward? Would it put you in drive or reverse?
My guess: It would decide based on its training with situations similar to the one it's facing. For example, were you starting a 3-point turn (around), it might recognize the set-up turn, so when you stop, it might guess R. You back up while turning then stop, so it guesses D. Off you go.

The Lease of X is up in June. Leaning toward another X, but concerned about Yoke vs. round steering wheel and how we shift from reverse to forward in a fast 3 point turn.

It seems that most people are unaware that toyota literally own an electric motor company (blue nexus) and they also partialy own panasonic (In case you didn't know Panasonic is the company that make battery for tesla). Toyota is definitely not stuck they already have everything they need they are just waiting for the right time. Last year they released the izoa EV in china and they also released lexus ux300e in europe and asia, heck yesterdey they teased a new lexus lf-z concept with 375 miles range and 544hp

I've been driving Tesla models since 2017. I a fan. Finally decided to buy the model Y dual. Went for a last driving test when found out they don't have the "slow choice" for the regenerative braking system any longer. Total frustration. Is that true? I could not drive the car easily like before. The sales person told me that "all Tesla cars" from now on are with only "standard option".
I have a model Y standard range ordered. I talked to Tesla and they said that they will honor anyone that ordered a model Y standard range from January 15 until the end of February. They just don’t know when they will fulfill the order.

Thanks for a great video, Ryan. I have a prediction: Lots of people who initially opt for the yoke wheel will later ask Tesla to install a round one. This will cost them some money, unless Tesla is really cool about it.

Cyberturck production can happen more quickly than one might think when considering that one of the most complex installations in car plants (after mega-casting mech) is the paint-shop, which isn't a factor for the CT.
Casting presses and robots are already on site, and with the pilot line now being perfected at the Fremont site, Tesla might not deliver many CTs this year but the first ones should indeed be on roads in late Q4 2021.

All EV production is scale limited by battery production. It is absolutely critical for battery volume production to increase. That would offer more vehicular variants, which is otherwise constrained due to limited batteries available. Also, I believe that prism vs cylindrical batteries will favour Cylindrical batteries in the longer run.

How about an electric all wheel drive Tacoma? I have a 4wd Tacoma now and am on the list for a cybertruck. I really need to have a truck but I really don't need anything near as big as the cybertruck.
I came close to buy a brand new Tacoma. Beautiful truck. But decided to keep my Chevy until I can buy an all electric truck. Would love to drive a Tacoma with Tesla tech. Will keep my Chevy for 5 years if I have to but hope is not that long.
10-4. My Tacoma is 15 years old and has been relatively trouble free. Just ove 100k miles but some hard use. Also have a Prius. Cybertruck (or electric Tacoma) would replace both.

All the Toyota partnerships needs, is access to the Supercharger network. That would be a major W for Toyota.
I have a 2000 sf house. I got solar for a net $5500 in late 2019 (down from $9500 with fed rebate and resale of old panels). Have just got the first electric bill in 16 months for $3.21. But what I really want is a compact, full-electric pickup (had to sell my second Toyota pickup 3 years ago) before I die. I'm 78. How about it?
Toyota Aygo X prologue is not an electric car, but has a standard combustion engine. It's a low cost city vehicle replacing the current Aygo.

Tesla Solar Price increase seams to make sense. Don't forget most items have increased in price considerably in the past year. I run a fabrication business and have seen 20% or more increase in raw material costs. Amd some of the the consumables I use have doubled if not tripled.

I would not count on Cybertruck coming early, I think at best because of the all new manufacturing techniques required, only a small batch will be delivered by mid to end of Q4. (Still impressive).
I anticipate delays for various unforeseen reasons.
It's just so different; how would anyone expect Cybertruck to be born right on time?
So I accept Tesla's prediction of 4Q21 for first pre-production Cybertrucks to begin
.... BUT I think 2Q22 for first deliveries to customers, NOT 1Q22.
I just think there will be changes needed, corrections, updates, etc. identified during testing, demanded by the govt, etc.
