    I’m all in on an affordable Tesla, not so much on a fully autonomous vehicle at this time in our EV revolution. More people need an affordable EV with charging availability for apartment dwellers, especially in the suburbs. An autonomous vehicle makes sense for crowded city dwelling :-)

    • @Syitalian25
      @Syitalian25 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Robo taxis might get so affordable that many people won't even feel the need to own a car. They'll just be able to hit an app and for a couple of dollars have a private car take them wherever they want to go, anytime reliably.

    • @TravelGuy7
      @TravelGuy7 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is the first time I have been worried about Elons decision making if he does actually delay the affordable model. Fully appreciate autonomy is important for the future. But governments are not ready to approve apart from some progressive states in the US. A 25k model is more important for right now. But from what I hear, this new manufacturing process will make it easy for the affordable model and the robo taxi to built on the same format. We shall soon see.

      Tesla needs to focus more on the long-term viability of the battery rather than selling little features. I'm seeing more battery failures long term and the cost of replacing the battery is not cheap. They need an affordable battery-swapping program. I saw a TH-camr purchase a new Model Y with his battery failing in a year. Even Tesla's limited battery warranty is suspect.

    FSD 12 has improvements but it has issues so not there yet for sure. Twice yesterday I had to intervene. One time it couldn’t figure out which lane to be in approaching a stop light. The second time it started to pull over into an intersection maybe 40 yards from a set destination. Also, navigation always mispronounces EZ-Pass as “essbess”. I love the car as a whole but true full self driving seems a ways off yet. Improving all the time but…
    Also would love to see the ability to switch the large camera view when displaying rear camera. Right now the largest view is the rear one on top. It would be nice to be able to toggle through the left or right views when parking as well to get a better view of how close you are to a curb.

    The delay of Model Y Juniper has the same affect of releasing Model 3 Highland in China but not in the US. Sales slow waiting for the upgrade. Model Y sales slow waiting for a refresh like the Highland. As for the 25K project redwood, that would be a perfect car for sales in Central and South America plus Asia. Far more market than for a Robotaxi. Although if perfected, a Robotaxi would be great for Seniors.

    rip inventory discounts. Was hoping to pick up a Model Y LR from existing inventory once I saved up a little more for it but now it's like $5k more expensive than it was last week so rip. Like Tesla did in other regions, they need to introduce a 0%-1% financing option in the US for Model Y (to clear inventory) and a lease buy out option (for Model 3 esp) to drive more people to buy at MSRP.

    • @liam1902

      Personally I think Tesla went way too overboard with their discounts/incentives the last several months. Been an owner & shareholder since 2019....folowing tesla since 2014......following the chain of evidence / historical facts, things look pretty frightening right now. ...... In 2017, Tesla held a huge reveal event for the Semi, and Roadster.....7 years later, there's literally no roadster, and the Semi still isn't in mass production. They've built some trucks ( dozens ? ) and Pepsi is trying them out......they refreshed the Model 3 but still didn't roll out the new Performance variant......the Model 3 and Model Y are supposed to be sister vehicles yet there's no refreshed Model Y....this, from a company which became known for optimizing parts and efficiencies.....the solar tiles for homes and businesses was quietly shelved.....The cybertruck rollout seems to have been botched in some ways when they're going to take many months to ramp production and didn't actually introduce a complete vehicle package ready to go ( talking about the extra battery pack and missing features like autopilot here )......the company seems dominated by computer-focussed designers who figured it a good idea to take away driver stalk controls even for the cybertruck ( imagine having a pickup & wearing gloves or your hands are filthy....they expect you to use touchscreen and buttons for everything , ha ha ha )......meanwhile tesla became notorious for horribly inadequate auto windshield wipers.......so even though tesla became immensely popular & profitable, lots of cracks have appeared and the last 18 months have been peppered with mostly bad news and "coming up short".....it's very concerning to see so many of my family and friends adopt a very negative view of the CEO to the point most of them have ruled out every buying a tesla...consequently only one bought a Tesla, the others have Kia, Hyundai, Toyota and increasingly around town I see more and more non-Tesla Ev's.......I could go on here, but another major item is the supercharging situation.....with many thousands of non-Tesla vehicles acquiring the ability to use Superchargers.....it seems more and more obvious Tesla is not taking this seriously.....they managed to become THE charging standard and get all these automakers to adopt NACS but tesla doesnt seem interested in ramping up capacity to serve all those cars & capitalize on the enormous revenues they would stand to enjoy........as for FSD, I've really enjoyed trying it out...& one day it performed very nicely all day long in various driving circumstances, BUT I still had to take over at key moments including one where the car literally ignored an approaching stop sign at a busy road and I was quick to intervene.....yet we're supposed to believe a " robotaxi" is imminent, just like we were told 5 years ago........it really feels like we're at a pivotal point in Teslas' development here....I'm kind of holding my breath waiting desperately for some really good news and results to assuage not just my anxiety, but the sentiments of millions of people ....and the Earnings Report is coming up fast with analysts expecting poor numbers which will just be used to amplify everyones doubts........

Sometimes at dusk or on rainy dreary days I like to drive with the parking lights on when I feel the full headlights are not necessary. I also think it looks good aesthetically. All this irrational exuberance over robo-taxis is in desperate need of a reality check. Fundamentally, they are ... taxis! With all the same use cases and disadvantages of that form of transport. They may very well displace some taxi/Uber/Lyft/etc. DRIVERS, but they won't supplant the private, personal, car.

    • @ricinro
      @ricinro 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Robotaxi, much like fast food franchises, are subject to a level of oversaturation and the law of diminishing returns. Much like the highly controlled/coveted medallions for taxis in NYC there would need to be limits on how many robotaxis in any given area to keep the demand for any given robotaxi high enough to justify the costs and depreciation of the vehicle. However the reason why Uber etc. didn't significantly replace ownership in vehicles is rush hour traffic where demand for rides, on time and reliable, is mostly just two times a day. Having enough robotaxis for most commuters would mean a glut of idle robotaxis the rest of the day. The business case seems to think rides are uniformly distributed throughout the day.

    • @PhillProbst
      @PhillProbst 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ricinro Good points. Bottom line is that, should they actually come to pass, robotaxis will be serving the same market that taxi/Uber/Lyft/etc. do now. As an example in my own case, the only time I would use such a service would be for transport between my home and the airport when taking a commercial flight. Then at the destination I would rent a car, not call a cab. Ironically, if and when level 5 autonomy is ever achieved that would eliminate that last use case as I would drive myself to the airport, then send my car home to its garage via FSD to await my summons on my return.

    Does elon pushing Tesla like this actually work out for the company though? They're still trying to deliver on promises and products that they announced years ago (FSD, Semi, CT/4680/DBE) with none of these things really living up to the goals that were set in any capacity (production capability, product capability etc), and there's no real new products in the pipeline now other than the robotaxi, which is dependent on FSD, something that is still *extremely* far away from being a viable, unconstrained robotaxi. They could *maybe* operate in limited domains like Waymo right now, but have no infra to support it (human drivers capable of taking over, remote assistance, service capacity), so when we're talking about the 8/8 announcement, we're talking about a product that's still *years* away, pushing an actually useful, intelligent product (affordable small mass market EV) into essentially oblivion (best case 5 years away).
