I purchased a 2024 Tesla Model Y LR on 3.29.2024... I purchase enhanced autopilot, and using a referral code, I got a year of connectivity and 90 days of FSD. I've use FSD every day... in town, stop & go traffic... on major interstates... from my driveway to my destination. I had some seat time in an older Model Y and Model 3 with enhanced autopilot... and I can say 100% the new version of FSD is lightyears ahead of the previous versions. It literally drives like me... in situations where I would pass a slower car... it does the same... It moves over for faster traffic... it even slows to let other drivers in... amazing. If you've tried previous versions of FSD, you really should try the new version. Free 30 day use for all Teslas.
Old news about Model Y: It won't come out in 2024. That's all
@RyanShawtech have you noticed if the AC will have a bad smell in the new model 3?
only 5k supercharging miles for taking delivery, the trade in 5k miles went away march 19th
I would pay for FSD if it was 80% cheaper. But at the current price, no way I would even consider it.
Yeah, I don’t get FSD. Who is paying (at any price) to be a beta tester for a product that potentially places your safety at increase risk? I guess the same people that buy a Cybertruck with options that don’t exist, LOL
Auto-shift, LOL. What could possibly go wrong? How is this a less complicated and safer than stalks? In my view, this Tesla providing “features” that no one is asking for. Does the company do any market research or employ human-factors engineering?
The $12k price for it on a new car is totally bonkers, that's for sure. Tesla seems to confirm that with how they (don't) price it on their used inventory...I found the difference between otherwise similar used vehicles with/without FSD was just about negligible. I bought a 2023 MYP with 13k miles, FSD included, for 46k...the closest comp without FSD had 17k miles and was $800 less. So they clearly don't think they could sell used vehicles with FSD for $12k more, strongly suggesting that's not a reasonable price for it on the new vehicles either. That is, it's not a reasonable price in the normal terms of one that maximizes revenue and/or profit. It actually makes a fair bit of sense if the idea is to set a price high enough that only a few super excited users are willing to buy it. In other words, as a pay-to-play beta it has some logic to it.
But now it seems pretty clear that phase of the product is coming to a close; as such my guess is we're likely to see some big changes to how FSD is priced. For what it's worth in the limited time I've had FSD v12.3 it's already obvious it's a *huge* step up. It's good enough I'm not surprised they're starting to act like they really do want to sell it widely. My guess is they'll drop the 12k price a lot, and probably the subscription by somewhat less. It sounds a lot less crazy to me at say, $5k flat or $100/mo. Before 12.3 I would have said something like half that.
It's actually worthless. I paid 7k$ for this junk on my Model 3 and I promised myself i would never get another Tesla. I put in an order for a R2 to replace my M3 but unfortunately some idiot T-boned me and totalled my car. I then took advantage of the end of quarter incentives and FSD transfer and got a new Model Y. Before I could even finish the purchase process on the app I had to sign a waiver saying that I acknowledge that there are no ultrasonic sensors. I knew that but it's telling how stupid of a decision it is.
Tesla is dead last in autonomy and their antiquated hardware (even 4.0) is dog slow. You cannot get to L3 without more sensors like additional ultrasonic sensors, radar and Lidar. Every manufacturer is closer to L3 that Tesla. In fact Mercedes, BMW, Cadillac and Nissan already are ahead. Polestar and Volvo too with their new luminar Lidar tech. Then the Chinese are like a million years ahead of them all..
In the meantime I can't even use FSD sometimes on a bright clear day before the stupid cameras get blinded by glare and give me left/right pillar camera unavailable messages. Not to mention the phantom braking. So annoying and idiotic. No matter what this fraudster musk says they cannot solve autonomy using neural network compute or whatever with just cameras. It's impossible and unless you freaking have some kind of quantum computer running in your car it will not be able to match human level visual processing.
i saw a refresh model 3 in the new red color in pleasant hill ca a few days ago. looked beautiful
What does exterior looks matter ? They removed a lot of interior components to save costs. Nice to see you get fooled by marketing tricks tho
Hopefully service will forget turning FSD back off.
When will they fix fantom breaking
for real, I've only had the Y for less than a week and it's phantom braked on me a couple times now, scares the crap out of me.
Try taking off obstacle awareness 😬
Huh
Have taken obstacle awareness off ,will see if that helps many thanks
Welcome to Tesla beta testing program.
Ryan! I just want to say thanks for all the videos, info and knowledge on Tesla! I’ve been a big fan for a while now. We took delivery of our MYLR yesterday and couldn’t be more happy! We had a referral and received 1 year of premium connectivity and 3 months of FSD, not to mention 5k of super charger miles. You had a big part in my decision. From one bald man to another, thanks!
You got one of the most outdated EVs on the market ... No 800V architecture in mid-size EVs is the biggest miss if you want to be future-proof. Vision-only autonomous driving is also a huge negative, many competitors have LiDAR and a bunch of other sensors + HUD etc as standard. The range is also quite bad for a "long range" model.
The updated Model Y (which probably still won't have 800V...but the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has it since 2021!) is coming next year anyway, so get ready to see the value of your car drop like crazy then.
And just for comparison:
The BMW iX3, which will come to markets in summer 2025 should have 370 miles EPA range in the long range configuration and it charges with around 300kW with 800V architecture. Even if it costs 20% more you are still at the same value-for-money ratio because it offers at least 20% more across the board. Why would anyone buy outdated Teslas at this point?!
Great explainer on the ev sales statistics...
Great deal on the Y right now. Legacy CT preorder holders still get $1000 off as well. Make sure to use a referral link to get the perks mentioned. Any existing user has one. Hopefully some one I know will be in the market eventually. I want that acceleration boost!
Would be nice if they sent the FSD update out to existing customers with FSD.
I’m sure Tesla want everyone who deserves to get updated will get it. They might screw up priorities but they’ll fulfil their obligations I’d say.
I wonder if giga Texas is producing the model 3s with the white interior, because, afaik, there's been no white interior delivered and the delivery date range of mine updated today 👀
Hi Ryan, New Zealand subscriber here. Couple of questions, got my first ever Tesla (M3 Highland) and am wondering if anyone has any insights into when the tech that has been used for FSD might trickle down to Autopilot and Autosteer? Phantom braking is a nightmare and FSD is not available here. Secondly why are the auto wipers so bad? I mean dangerous bad. I thought the ones on my Mercedes were shonky but these are terrifying!
projection on glass?
What is “quite soon?” Next week? Next month? End of Q2?
Great video Ryan!
Thanks Ryan, great video like always
Any news about the Model Y Juniper refresh ?.
If he has the news, he'll post about it
Would 100% order a Ludacris MY the second that drops
Would be really cool if sometime in the future the Connectivity is provided by Starlink.
Joe Tegtmeyer speculated that the 3s seen at Texas could have just been a logistical arrangement. It might make sense for some limited number of Fremont vehicles to be hauled to Austin and sent out for distribution from there.
Ryan, do you like the new Model 3 better than the 2024 Model Y?
WiFi and Bluetooth are standard across all vehicles with the software update
Yep I got it a few weeks ago 😊
If my dinosaur has it I know it’s standard 😂
All the maintenance on my dirt bikes, tuned 1.8t, quad, has me enjoying the ev lifestyle. Tesla charging network has made road trips manageable. Im excited to try to find an electric dirtbike next.
Less emissions is a byproduct of enjoying a powertrain with high efficiency and power in the ev world. Sucks ford and others are putting out crap ev's
Would really like to see a focus on the interiors for Tesla. While I enjoy the minimal approach there is a clear opportunity for luxury materials/feel to attract those buyers.
Maybe try a model x or S
Refresh Model 3 review soon? I didnt know u took delivery
The new 24' mod.3 is very good. Nicer seat, hot and COOL. The noise, road noise, windnoise is lower a lot more than previous models. New suspension on 18in wheel is better. The rest I would not care. I hope the new 2024.5' modY has the same treatment. I am looking at the Y. But DON'T like the current Y.
I wonder when they will do something about the price of FSD. In Canada EAP is $7800 and full FSD pricing ($16000) is beyond belief so it’ll be a no for me. Would I like FSD absolutely but I don’t have Musk’s money.
A typical work week for a Tesla production employee was 6 and a half days. Wow.
Hello Ryan, I wish they have a Moonlight color here in US, that color so beautiful and I’m waiting the model Y 2025💕
I don't think the Model is currently being "built" in Texas, these are just being shipped thru the Austin facility. Guess you did not really pay attention to the Joe's drone video and listen to the explanation.
Won’t get a Tesla until til model s drops below 55,000 or they offer there cars with FSD free.
Comfort vs sport mode suspension with dynamic dampers is what's missing in the model 3 and y that exists in the competition. Should have been included long ago as it's an inexpensive part to include, which is why it's available in less expensive cars than Tesla. There should also be a heads up display as there's no dash, or the option to have the 2nd display be the dash rather than rear seat and maybe have a Touch Bar or something for rear passenger climate control or make the rear display optional since not everyone wants or need it. And make it mounted on the ceiling instead of down low so you don't get car sick while looking down at it.
Considering the ocean absorbs most airborne pollution it would be great to see more Evs
TY ...... 👍
Please do a segment on the likelihood Tesla will turn to selling components or assembling vehicles for other manufacturers. Think Magna, Bosch etc. They are already selling Superchargers so I am waiting for you to break the news they are selling batteries or motors to Stellantis or someone in the next two years. Rivian seems to have already ventured into this business on a small scale.
such a good presenter and good video quality and editing. More objectivity would make it even better.
Good talk, Ryan. Thanks for the substantive videos. Two points: your graph showing the total sales by year got the message across to me the best. Also, re FSD, I followed your advice and did not order FSD with my new 12/23 Model Y. $12K is a lot to pay for the software, especially when I had already paid for it on my previous Tesla (a Model 3), I found it to be a bit buggy, and having it did not seem to improve my resale value much. Still, I think a real level IV or V driving assist software will be a gangbuster success for Tesla, when they get there. For now, I can rent it for $200 a month when needed. I did notice Tesla does not offer to rent Enhanced AutoPilot, which has most the features we all want and is "only" a $6K software update. Keep up the good work (in between drummer gigs!)
I don't think it's going to be called Ludicrous mode because the badge design is different. If any of you have seen Spaceballs, Ludicrous mode is a plaid design, and this is more of a light speed design.
If there are model 3s being made at Giga Texas the vin number will confirm it. Can anyone find a Model 3 "A" vin?
I'm just waiting for the Benz, Lexus, and Cadillacs to come with the NACS plugs so that i can choose my SUV EV.
Everyone forgot about the Plaid…😢
What do you mean?
Lower the interest rate and give a better price for insurance. If the company has so much money. This would bring more sales and bring in more money.
Half this video is “ludicrous” focused.
Maybe but the entirety of your comment was rather pointless. Take your negativity to the gym.
Your comment is 100% ludicrous... what's your point?🤷♂️
😂😂
Please give some comments / analysis to compare hybrid cars with EVs for customers . The current EVs sales are slower due to buyers to chosen hybrid.
Current ev sales are slower because those EVs do not qualify for the 7500 tax cut. and/or are sub par EVs.
My answer is hybrids still spew pollution and ev’s don’t.
Ryan I very much appreciate your intelligent no frills videos...keep them coming
Hey I’m here to pick up my car!
No problem, but we gotta go for a test drive of FSD first.
Um,I gotta get to work.
Then we can’t give you the car unless you test drive a product first
😂😂😂
Compared to the 3 hours you’ll spend at a non-Tesla dealer buying a new car, it’s the easiest new car experience anyone has ever had.
On a side note FSD 12 is awesome. Go try it.
Is the Koop aid red or purple today? Just because something is done on one side, doesn’t mean it’s ok on another. Who cares how good FSD is, if people want to try it, they should do it on their own time. Being forced a product on you after you buy from them already is horrific
Showing a customer how a product works isn’t a bad thing. You’re in the minority on this. Again, every other delivery experience form others does this standard.
@@dalejewell9916 I don’t remember once Ford forcing me to see blue cruise or GM having to drive around in their super cruise. You can think. It’s in the minority all you want, but people don’t want to be forced to sit with a sales person showing them a new product or they might be fired . That’s what made the Tesla experience what it is. Get in and go.
@@dalejewell9916 Really? They've only just started to force buyers to endure a demo they didn't sign up for and you already know what the majority and minority opinions are about it? Perhaps you have ESP, but more likely you're just making things up because you can't stand the idea that other people have a different opinion than yours.
Unfortunately, FSD is too expensive. Price should be 6k for personal use and 12k for commercial use for X amount of years.
Tesla really needs a bigger midsized three row SUV slotted above the Y; similarly sized like the Highlanders and Pilots. Maybe based off of the Cybertruck, call it CyberUV! I want one 😊
That’s the model x
A positive headline from Ryan Shaw? Mark the calendar!
Tesla, please hurry up with the Model Y Juniper / Reengineered Model Y. In Europe. Please.
Can they please deliver my car 😂
PLUS who bought vehicles in 2023? Not too many smart people.
U forgot Tesla semi
New model dropped today
Growth all depends on the size of the base you are growing off of. And then factoring in unit sales vs. unit production and looking at the impact on working capital. With interest rates relatively high, the cost of holding inventory becomes more expensive. So regardless of growth %, if they are building to an unrealistic forecast and they end up with too much inventory, it has a negative impact financially... and that is the bigger issue from what I see with Tesla.
Better to advertise or show it during test driving the FSD than for forcing someone picking up a already bought car. But isn't logical
❤
Coming in 2028..just in time for the Olympics in LA
Tesla reducing price of fsd again
ils peuvent augmenter les prix, les stocks augmenteront aussi !
on patientera, et puis tesla n'a plus le monopole !...
I'm sorry it's not the best. 10k more and you get best luxury SUVs
Genuine question:
Why would anyone buy a new $25k low cost electric car when I can buy a 2-3 year old tesla model 3 for about the same price or less. It still have more range better comfort.
So that people like us who are willing to buy used cars can buy a 2-3 year old next-gen tesla for $15,000
@@matthewsperry7847 probably less I can buy used 2020 model 3 for $16K right now
For 25k a new car is pretty awesome. Warranty. Other than Pride
Faster computer
HW 4
Better steering
Better suspension
Better NVH overall
Safer and stronger
Nothing worth with 15K either used if you find that.
But. Lots of reasons to spend the little extra.
@@CatalystNetwork steering and suspension would still be better on a used model 3. I doubt you’ll still find the same screen and infotainment processor on a $25k tesla as they need to cut costs to achieve $25K price point. Warranty is a good reason to buy new but the battery is warrantied up to 120k miles which is good enough for me but I understand it’s not good enough for others
Was Elon high with this mandate to demo FSD on new car delivery? Umm... Calibration time? New Teslas don't still need ~50 miles before autopilot/etc are available? Minimal interaction with (often under-trained) sales people was one of the best parts of the Tesla buying experience. Yes do this for demo/test drives, but not for delivery!
What %of Plug Ins don’t get plugged in regularly and only run on gasoline⁉️
I’m told it’s higher than many think.
😎
The greatest problem is charging at home!!
FSD should be free for all Tesla cars.
That's just naive thinking, considering they've invested an insane amount of capital to achieve v12.
@@tralexium This is not naive thinking in the current situation, Tesla is struggling to sell the cars now, this can help Tesla increase sales.
That’s ridiculous. You have no idea how much work it takes to develop FSD, it’s an insane amount of man hours, programming, testing, etc…
@@nelsonmei9527I believe eventually they will have to provide it to all Tesla’s so that they’ll continue to have an edge/advantage as it becomes more normalized. Although I wonder if the new redesigned Model Y’s will cost a lot more? 🤔
If Tesla really wants to break its next Second Quarter Sales (Ending June 30th, 2024) - this time it needs to add an Incentive it had never considered before & people in USA and large metro areas all over the world would go ape over - simply say: We will give buyers a Free Upgrade on our highest grade HEPA air filtration system!!! It is only a $400.00 upgrade for Tesla - but it is an upgrade that would capture the imagination of millions of buyers in polluted cities, or places where people know the meaning of Wildfires!! Tesla's Top HEPA Air Filtration System as an Incentive to buy a new Tesla this new Second Quarter would stir up a lot of excitement and media interest...
EVs arent meant for owners who dont have a home with a garage to have your own charger. If you live in an apartment, good luck fighting for chargers at the supercharging station.
Tesla
FSD = Full Shit Driving...for that price to be a beta tester....no way. I own a Model 3 "refreshed" model and honestly, the driver assist features suck big time!!
Ev demand is goind down why can you accept the facts .. changing words dont change facts
The best? Ha!
Hey, Elon. Here's a suggestion if you want to sell more FSD, LOWER THE PRICE. Why would I buy a feature that costs more than hiring a personal chauffeur? Sheesh!
$200 a month is a pretty low cost chauffeur
The best? 😂
I picked up my new 24 model Y and... wow... it's fast. But, it's going to kill me. Emergency braking when there's nothing there, changes speed limit from like 65 to 45 on the highway for no reason... on top of that, the lights decide to go into automatic hi-beams on its own, the automatic windshield wipers are possessed. There's so much to like about it, but the software is a buggy mess.
Honest review… thank you
It’s a good video but would wish that he only focus on his subject.
The corruption with the media and a Tesla playing out shows why black rock stays rich.
Critical thinking is seriously lacking in the general population
Tesla doesnt need ludicrous, thei needs a low price model 2 and to raise price for 3 and Y, to better company profit.
I rather see less EV brands on the market so I dont have to see too many non Tesla cars flood Tesla charging net work. I know im being selfish but it is what it is. Look man, the future of EVs heavily rely on 2 things. 1) longer range(fewer stops in between). 2) charging speed( more stalls for others).
No im there with you sir. I don’t wanna share my Tesla SC net work with other brands who have done NOTHING to contribute to the infrastructure.
Why would I, a Tesla customer WANT more Teslas in SCs? For what benefit? To be able to “share” my pros of being a Tesla owner to someone who chose otherwise?
I’d be okay with sharing if other non-Tesla companies like Rivian and Ford made their OWN networks at a larger rate than they are now and share it with Tesla. Can’t even charge my Y on Rivian DCFC. Completely stupid.
I know it’s selfish but I agree too.
I’m surprised you didn’t say at my Tesla charging stations. I guess when they were teaching sharing in kindergarten you were out that day.
@@dr.emilyacevedo812 good to know many out there like you completely miss the valid points I pointed out. sit this one out until you got something to contribute instead of critique my choice of words lol. Get real.
I don’t want any one at the chargers at all. Especially when I’m taking a trip to Southern California. More people need to drive gas cars out there.
🧢
Tesla needs to make an actual affordable off road r2, r1 competitor
The truth is EV demand IS slowing down! That is what it means when sales growth slows. Nothing you showed indicates anything otherwise. Obviously there are other ways to analyze EV sales, but none of it negates that the fact that sales are slowing. I very much hope sales growth picks up again, but for the time being, it’s stagnant. A strong indicator of that is the chart you showed indicating that ICE cars GREW 9% in 2023. That is a big move in the wrong direction and shows pushback from consumers on the march to our EV future. It’s undeniable. We have a long way to go, and infrastructure is the biggest obstacle.
As for missing the forest from the trees 🌲, they see all other non-Teslas (Ford, GM) declining in EV sales so that means EVs are not selling. No, it means Teslas are selling more although 2024 first quarter is having some difficulties. China market is dropping because they are in an economic depression due to their new espionage laws. 😢
I can guarantee you that it means many people think that it means EVs are not selling. Because I see 10 articles a day talking about it. All it means is that sub par EVs are not selling. Tesla is raising price of ev in china. so, i dont think that happens when sales are dropping
You’re way off base. Tesla is growing at a slower rate than almost all other EV manufacturers. Google it. And btw, none of them have “declined” in sales, and no one ever said they did. They are simply growing at a slower rate, which is exactly what a slowdown in demand means. It isn’t bad reporting, it’s bad reading comprehension skills.
Those not buying Tesla MY currently are sitting out until the refresh kicks in later this year.
As someone who took delivery this past mid-Oct. I got the better deal on my MYLR than the current 2024 version.
Tesla’s sales are slowing down the most out of all EV manufacturers. Google it. And btw, no one ever said EV’s are not selling - they sell more and more each year - what the news is reporting (accurately) is that EV sales GROWTH is slowing, and in Tesla’s case, it has slowed to almost nothing. The other manufacturers are still posting pretty big sales increases.
@@paulclement4961 Other manufacturers are cutting production by 50% with unsold EVs on dealer lots gathering dust. What are you talking about in GROWTH? Tesla is selling more units each quarter due in part from price cuts so since production has faced some headwinds from recent events, prices are then raised slightly, which signals demand hasn’t been hurt at all. CyberTruck continues to hit new milestones in production quantities. You absolutely do not know what you’re talking about.
I really think phev’s are better than ev’s. like the new Mercedes Benz e300 with 70+ mi of range, the only you need dinosaur fuel is for long road trips and it gets like mid 50s mpg it uses only a 25kwh battery compared to like 80-100 in ev’s witch is almost never used. Most people don’t drive more than 70mi a day.
It’s really not though, it just add more complexity utilizing 2 propulsion systems, etc.
Manufactures just need to go electric and buyers will adapt.
I don't think it will have Active suspension; it's the same for BMW that used or licensed KONI's frequency response damper technology.
You will probably be able to tune/adjust the damping response. Still, it will not be Active Suspension as in an Air, Hydraulic, or Gas-Hydraulic active adjustable damper and suspension that can lower and raise the vehicle/decrease and increase the road clearance, prevent pitch & roll or allow the car to always be banked when turning and actively adjust the rebound of the dampers.
The slow down is because China is going through a financial crisis that is affecting car sales. All car sales significantly. Chinese automakers are trying to send their already manufactured stock abroad. Domestic sales have fallen quite sharply.
Elon has data on how often FSD and Autopilot are used and he is clearly not happy about it. Instead of accepting the fact that most customers don't really want these features he is trying to push the technology. It is far more stressful to supervise FSD than to just drive the car. Some drivers even get carsick when they are not in control and bracing against the wheel and seat. Most drivers don't even realize they do this but understand when they are just sitting there.
You still have to hold the wheel when using FSD. It’s just Level 2 self-driving, same as every other manufacturer, and some even have Level 3 (true hands-free). Unless they are using some device to trick the car into thinking they are holding the wheel, you can’t drive around without holding the wheel.
Of course they will leave Cali and fully to Texas.
It’s simple: Taxes and Politics . 💸
The model y upgrade won’t do that well unless they update the frame. Nobody wants that ugly ass bubble
When it takes 30 minutes to charge your car. Of course you’re gonna have decrease in EV sales
