      Your hair does talk. If it’s dry and brittle and tangly you need more moisture. If it’s gummy and lacking definition and too soft you need more protein. If you have an itchy scalp and white flakes you need more scalp moisture. If your hair is producing way too much oil it means your shampoo is top stripping and you scalp is compensating

    • @Donteverlook4videos
      @Donteverlook4videos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      W A if your cuticle is gone you need to cut your hair

    • @Donteverlook4videos
      @Donteverlook4videos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      W A the new growth shouldn’t need protein unless you have some kind of vitamin deficiency which needs to be fixed internally but it sounds like you’re overloading your hair in protein to me

    • @Donteverlook4videos
      @Donteverlook4videos 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      W A it might seem like it’s irrelevant but you need to be taking vitamin D supplements. It’s absolutely necessary to maintain normal calcium and phosphorus levels

    I know this is an old video, but by golly it was so helpful! I’m had a reeeallly great handle on my crown for years now. Generally speaking, I’m absolutely in love with my hair. Been using my holy grail products for about three years with stunning results. BUT for the last few months my curls have been actin a fool. Almost enough to make me consider a big chop. But once again, Mell to the rescue! Switch up my products and literally after the first wash and style with new stuff my crown is once again swoon worthy!! Thanks, Queen! 😘

    What do you suggest for extremely mega thick curly hair? Especially now that it is summer, my niece cannot tame her hair. It’s monstrous!! She does have great hair but so much of it!! The top around her forehead is very coarse, unlike the other hair. She also battles dandruff! 😆 I’m just looking for product recommendations or whatever you got. ☺️ You are definitely the best curly girl I’ve watched on TH-cam!! 👍🏼

    Spring in NYC is pretty mild right now and somewhat windy. I refreshed last night and the wind frizzed up my hair. Yikes!😱 Had to wash it. Summers are extremely humid and I have to wash it more often due to sweat which annoys me. What would be the best type of product to use to combat this? I would also love to see Amanda’s spring routine. Red is your color gurl and I love the cool eyeshadow.

      Try dry shampoo- Klorane has a loose powder one that is CG friendly, and IGK has some new ones that really detox the scalp (but they're a little more drying than Klorane). I live in Florida & it's pivotal using dry shampoo, washing every day is a no-go for my hair.

    I have never waited for a video as much as I have for yours. Mell there's absolutely nothing that I don't love about you! Your hair looks fab here, I love that tee and your make up made me stare into your eyes for so long I forgot what you were talking about :D hahah ( I may have a tiny bit of crush coming up ) Overall your videos always always make me laugh and I love information being dished out like this because it sticks. This video has come just in time as the weather has become a furnace here in Mumbai (India) too. it completely switched from this crazy pseudo winter to a freaking hot furnace and my hairfall and hair frizz has been at an all time high. Just when I was thinking what could be the reason, you chose this topic. I can't wait for your next video. Please do educate us with what ingredients, type of products, wash day and refresh and general hair care should one follow in this kind of weather considering it gets soooo sweaty. I also realised sleeping in a silk bonnet made my scalp a tad bit itchy in this weather, any tips for night care ? Much Love as always!!

    omg i just love ur personality and energy ..yet another great informative video that kept me hooked till the end. I'm so happy I found ur channel. I have almost the same curl pattern, texture, cut and even color as ur hair so ur channel is a gift from heavens. Although lately, my hair has been giving me hell. I can't keep it tangle free throughout the week .. I keep waking up with lumps of knots on my head even when I sleep in a bonnet or use a satin pillowcase. I don't use much product in my hair for me to notice a change. I'm tempted to cut it, but I do like how it looks now so I'm torn on where to go from here.

    I would add that you may need to change not always or only your products but the way of styling it.
    For me is very hard to find products that work well for styling my hair and there are not many options regarding products for curly hair where I live. So, any change is restricted to shampoo and conditioner or rotating the ingredients in my natural deep treatment masks, if I touch something else, my hair becomes a disaster.

    Girl!! I live in Florida, USA and we get the 4 seasons in 1 DAY!! And on top of that; add humidity!!! ARGH!!! Had it straight for almost 20 yrs and now going back to curly., so I did a lot of heat damage. But now always frizzy and dry. My hair is down to my butt, I bought a bunch of stuff from Cantu & Shea Moisture. Let's see. I do "dye" my hair with Henna for decades (no peroxide, just water) So I guess I'm a 2.5 - 3.5??? Mel. I wondered why when I go camping my hair gets more and more curly. Now, thanks to your videos, I believe I know why!! I don't wash it, and it is very humid out in Ontario in the summer. So, not taking away moisture and the atmosphere is adding moisture. Hair just sucks it up from the air!!! WOW......mind blowing. Is your spray bottle a pump sprayer? or is it battery operated? I notice you don't pump the squeeze handle repeatedly?

  • @valerianichole111

    Hey girl, I have a few serious questions. I’m looking to become a professional hair stylist as well. My question for you is did you solely study hair? Or was it cosmetology? Because I know cosmetology on its own covers a variety of things, not just hair. Also, whatever it is that you got your license on did they teach you about how to care for your curly hair? Where did you obtain your knowledge about curly hair care? Your knowledge seems to be based more on facts than experiences and I wanna learn about how to care for curly and straight hair. I know stylists with straight hair that have completely messed up my curly hair because they just didn’t know how to care for it. A video on this topic would be helpful as well if it’s not too much to ask. Thank you in advanced! ❤️

It’s so weird but i have long curly hair and i have been dealing with what i think is hormonal imbalance and while im trying to treat that, i’ve noticed my hair has become very weak and i’ve shed a LOT 🤧 and though i haven’t applied heat or put any dye in my hair for years, its so fragile and almost dread-locky when it dries after a shower.. its so weird. Have you dealt with that type of hair on a client? Your videos are so informational and i love your personality! Thank you for educating and making me laugh haha 💗

    I just did a big chop. 10 inches. Most of my curls are really poppin but i've got these few randon bits of hair, mostly around my face, that are just not curling. I'm trying to be patient because i understand how taking 10 inches off can really change my curls but hoping those random bits start to curl up soon. Can you offer any advice on why those areas aren't curling?
    Also i just wanna say what a joy your videos are to watch. Great info and great personality. Thanks for what you do to help us curlies on our journey.

    I know this is an old video, I’m just a new subscriber. So what do you all do with all the product you don’t use in a given season? Do you just store it for the next year (given it doesn’t say it’s expired), do you throw it out?

    Me again, question: Do you ever do apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse treatments to balance the pH level of your scalp? Would do a demonstration video and talk about the science and benefits of ACV rinses please?

      I love ACV! It really helps break up any build up throughout the week in my daughter's hair (especially if she is outside playing a lot) without having to wash all of the moisture out. I don't know any of the science but I LOVE Cantu's rinse.

    Hm... my hair changed constantly from me being 14 years old, to me now 33. Before 14 it was wavy often straight, after that it became curly (I lived in a different city from that time with irony waters) and it was full and beautiful, after 2009 it changed again, I had hair loss, and I almost losed my curls (this was when I graduated from collage, and maybe from stress? dont know). I began to colour my hair to give it shine and strenght, but I feel like I will never get back thoose thick curls I used to. :(

    Mell, I love your videos and how you present info!
    Do you follow the Curly Girl Method and do the products you use follow those guidelines? Why or why not?

      Kristy Torgeson She doesn’t...... the CG method doesn’t mean great hair hun🙄. You also would’ve figured out that she doesn’t follow it by watching her previous videos and thought for yourself.

      @@franceskeller4536 wow, thanks for the condescending reply, "hun". FYI I have watched many of her videos but wanted to confirm.

      She doesn't 100%. She uses silicones. She explains that in her silcone video. The Aveda products she uses mostly have silicones in them.

    Hi Mell, I would love to change my hair products but I live in Guatemala and thing is we don't have many products were to choose from, I basically only have one brand for a clean shampoo and everything else so for me changing routines is impossible 😭😭😭😭

    I have a couple questions, either for at the end of a video or to do a video on. 1. Is it a myth about diffusing with cold air? I know you mentioned I think high heat on the diffusing video but I can't remember now if you went into detail about it 😁 another question is you see all these curly girls that start the curly girl method with wavy hair and a year in they've got ringlets, there's so many transformation pics. I'm wondering how this happens to some and not others? And how do you know when hair has reached its full wave/Curl potential? 😅 Love your videos, so informative and I'm glad they're only like 10 mins long, I think any longer and my brain wouldn't be able to cope with too much info 😂😘

    I love your videos! So full of great information! Have you seen the bumble and bumle curl line with UV protection? What are your thoughts? With this Texas sun im always worried about my curls feeling so dry after a day outside... im not a hair professional so its hard to understand the products out there.

    Hi Mell. New to your channel and love it! Have to binge watch so I can catch up. Just wondering if you've heard of the Rezo cut and if you plan on learning how to do it so I can come see you? Seems to be taking the curly world by storm. Something different than Deva. :D
