I always cover the tip of my ears with my hair because they get at least slightly cold and uncomfortable otherwise. That's why the bonnet tip sounds uncomfortable to me. Do you have any tips? Or anyone else reading this?

3 theories : maybe you're not putting enough product (not the same amount as in the front). maybe because of the friction with your clothes or maybe bc you're not protecting it at night and the friction with ur pillow makes knots and frizz.

I have naturally curly very thick, coarse hair. When I was younger it was super curly, but today at (clears throat) 45 years old it has lost its kink and is now just wave. I discovered you while I was looking for ideas on how to get them back. I didn't want to do the curly girl method because even though I go 7-12 days without washing (yes I can really go that long) I didn't want to "co-wash" because I need my hair clean of product. I started using a hot iron on my hair as soon as I was I could get my hands on one, so probably 25 years ago. I am tired of slamming heat to my hair and wanted my curl back. I have followed your videos, bought a diffuser, changed my hair products and the way I style. It is WORKING! I have used L'Ange products on my hair for two years and I love it. It has made my hair healthy and shiny and gives it body but I took your advice and decided I should change it up, so I bought some Verb (waiting on it to get here) to see if my hair needed a wake up with different products. I am sorry that this long, but I wanted to thank you for giving this (kind of) old lady her curls back. I watch every Tuesday and I have sent your videos to my twin sister and daughter who also have hair like mine so they can rock their natural locks too! Keep up the good work!!

  • @catgreen1

Hair update: since I have been watching your videos, (a few months now) I have had major positive results. My hair has definition, it's hydrated and not too hydrated, my whole routine has gotten a lot quicker too since I am used to doing the finger curl. It's literally amazing. I'm a mix of white and Hispanic, so my hair is too soft for the harsh chemicals despite the curl. My mother is white, and has always tried her best with my hair, but never fully understood how to do it. So I suffered with the lack of knowledge of how to handle my hair.
Not any more! You are a life saver!

emblack3144 - whenever I need to pull my hair back, I use an invisibobble! It’s a coiled hair tie that you can just put on your hair and it will hold it in place (at least for me). I typically get headaches whenever I tie my hair back but I haven’t had that problem with this one!

Hey Mel! What's your advice on sweaty curls? I'm at the gym 5 days a week for about 45-70 min. By the end of my workout my curls are incredibly sweaty, and tangled. I have no choice but to wash it everyday or keep my hair straighten as it's easier for me to just straighten the kinks. I'd love to rock my natural curls...except my hair is as long as your seester, and maintain after a workout takes almost 45-60 min for mee. Hallpp ❤️

Discovered your channel recently randomly even before trying to look at tips to bring back my childhood waves/curls from the 90s brushed out floof it became when not straightened. Having that Minnesota winter going on, this kind of info has been extra helpful!! I'm still not great at diffusing with my short T-Rex arms holding the dryer, but I have super improved since watching your videos!

I’m also tempted to fly to Canada! I have a question: I workout often and of course sweat a lot. I have to wash my hair at least 3 times a week. I do co-wash. Then I always style as you suggest. I know it’s not good... what else can I do or should I add something to the routine? TIA!!!!

The water thing explains so much. My hair is short (collar bone when stretched) but I am doing almost daily soaking wet refreshes. I will also condition and sometimes detangle again. It doesn't want to curl at all!!

Thanks Mel for all the great tips. You should have a college course, your that good. Tons of women would be taking your class.
One thing I’d like to share about the bonnet. I bought one and the silk pillow case. When I first started using the bonnet my hair was still a mess in the morning. My hair is not very long, just enough to make a pineapple. So I do both, put my hair in a pineapple and put the bonnet on. And wow that makes my hair amazing in the morning. Love second day hair now. Thanks again for all the wonderful information. Your the best.

Hi! I love your channel! And I just started my curly hair routine, I might be young but who cares? I’m twelve years old and i got curls till my belly button. I always thought that it was straight by combing it everyday because my straight haired friends told me to do it. But now I finally considered that I HAVE curls! I have to wet it everyday with a spray bottle because when I wake up (from my loose bun covered in a turban) it lost its volume and my curls looks like dreads so I have to wet it EVERY MORNING and re style it. Do you have tips to avoid re styling it everyday?

I just started my curly hair journey and my hair is all over the place. My curls range so much, some pieces are straight from damage, other spots are super coil curls and then other spots are in between. The top of my head closer to my forehead to is VERY thinning. Mostly from the forehead to about 3-4 inches back. Will I ever get my coily curls back?? I LOVE your videos and I really hope the starter kit and denman brush and your other tips start to help! it breaks my confidence that my hair doesn't look good! THANK YOU for your videos!

They also make bonnets with adjustable straps so you can tighten it securely. One of my bonnets is adjustable and would fall off my head otherwise

Bobby pins (Kirby grips UK lol) are the only thing that keeps mine on. Four pins one over each ear, one at the back and one at the front. I'm very restless and mine fell off every night till I started pinning it in place. works fine now.

Hi - I just found you and I am so happy -I am 70 years old and the only time I have felt comfortable with my hair was in the 80's when I had the most wonderful afro!! - since then I have been blow dryintg and flat ironing my hair until 2 years ago when i fully retired - I decided to stop fighting so I let my coloring go and stopped ironing and blow drying my hair - then I had it cut because it was easier to handle - my hair is about 4 inches on the top and just almost to the bottom of my ears but layered - any suggestions that would be different for short hair
