I agreed 100% but it was also made possible by Mr. Marcus:). Just subscribed and on my third video within the first hour. Hopefully I get my mini 2 by 01/28/21. Here from SoCal. Thank you.
Dear Pilot Colleague! It was a great pleasure to see your new excellent video about Snake River Canyon! I see the use of your previous experience on this flight! Congratulations to him from Hungary! Make lots of similarly beautiful videos with the excellent mini 2 so we can all enjoy it! Hi: merliner46
Idaho Quadcopter that sure is Beautiful Scenery ! Plus you are Extremely Good doing your Videos ! My Mini 2 will be here Monday @ Noon FedX ca't wait ! Just Love your Videos ! You are Great Thanks for the Nice Video ! We have Severe Storms & Tornado Warnings but so far Ok ! Illinois ! Can't wait for another Video !
Super nice flight demoing the new M2, the flying speed, noise, and video quality are definitely lots improved. Thanks for sharing it with all of us, Marcus!
Better flight for sure, as a pilot, I have experienced serious venturi effects in a cessna 150 even in low winds. It is a phenomenon for sure around canyons. Takes your breath away...Good flying.
Again great video Marcus! Love to watch you fly that canyon and the M2 did great. And seeing all the extras that DJI added to this drone makes me think i could use an upgrade. Lol
Fantastic video Marcus, really enjoy watching you fly that little Mini, and now Mini 2, at the various locations you show us. You are so lucky to have that Snake River canyon to fly at, so spectacular! Keep those videos rolling, you've got a great, easy going presentation style, unlike many You Tubers out there that can be really annoying to watch lol.
Great video Marcus. I enjoyed the flight. Sorry you had to send it back. Looking forward to hearing what DJI comes up with in their analysis of your first flight.
Beautiful flight. Love the canyon views! Also love that ZOOM capability. I fly very little in Sport mode, so usually don't see any gimbal problems, such as you did this time in Sport mode. DJI fixed that with a firmware update on their MA2. Perhaps an update for the M2 will do the same....we'll see. Thanks again, Marcus!
Very good video. If you want smooth airflow fly over smooth ground. Fly away into wind and return riding the wind. I wouldn't like to fly by that canyon, massive cliffs causing rollover turbulence. For me flat calm or not at all. I share your enthusiasm for the minis, both stunning. I wonder if a firmware upgrade could give the 1. a 4k camera, I bet thats a secret. Keep up the good work.
That was some really stunning footage. Wow. Also, it was an Eddy current (both times). Wind hitting the cliff and shearing upwards. I think it lost GPS for a second also (in the first vid).
Hi Markus, I just received my Mini 2 today and gave it a test. What a sweet little drone. I have two Mavic Air 2 and used the Mavic Air 2 controller to control the Mini 2. It will be nice to only use one controller for both the Mini 2 and Mavic Air 2. I suspect that since the Mini 2 has an optical flow sensor that a future update will include precision landing. Since the Mini 2 is such a terrific drone, all my other budget drones will soon be on eBay soon. I love your reviews, the most trustworthy on TH-cam.
Great Video. Looking into the sun was pretty impressive, no flare really. That one little movement and horizon tilt still keeps me nervous. I think it will take some more flights to gain complete confidence. But, it's still quite a piece of equipment, especially at that price and under 250g. Thanks for sharing your canyon once again❗❗ 👍👍
Technically speaking I believe the new mini 2 battery is equivalent if not mote energy dense than the previous model. While yes the mah is less on newer version that’s only half the story, lithium ion peaks at a lower voltage per cell than lithium polymer. So when comparing batteries it’s important to compare in terms of both voltage and mah (energy density) for a fair comparison. Nice video and beautiful flight location!
I am now watching your flights over the Snake River. Very beautiful area. Do you still fly some of your older birds. I started watching since the Spark days. I bought one and NOW I really like the video quality of that bird.
Like the first video, the view of the canyon is beautiful. The zoom was really impressive! I loved your use of the function and smoothly zoomed back out, very nice work. Occusync 2 is worth the purchase, and worth the upgrade if you had the original Mini (and can possibly return it).
Thank you very much! Both the gen 1 and gen 2 Minis are great products. As you say the zoom, occusync and then 4K on top of that are worth the price of admission. 👍
That canyon must be doing lots of weird things to air currents that aren't typical of more normal terrain so perhaps it's no surprise that you are getting some unpredictable behaviour. What a fantastic place though, so thanks for giving us such a spectacular view and great information about the Mini 2.
Wow! What a view! I didn’t see issues with the gimbal jerking as you speed up. Some pilots did have issues on TH-cam. Just wondering if u experienced that.
Another great video well done. Hey just noticed that there is a new released updated Fly app version 1.2.1 today that supposedly fixes the antenna interference message problems that's been giving all of us Mini 1 owners issues ever since 1.2.0 came out.
Hey Marcus! So glad you didn't have any problems with the Mini. Fantastic images and great stable flight. Well done mate! Too windy for the zino 2 plus.will try again later. Dan down under
Well done Marcus! I’m glad everything worked out for you. I guess you can mark the other flight as an anomaly....but I still think it was something fierce, like crosswinds.
At about 12:50 during yaw... did it skip frames? I'd love to see the snake river down close (20m) off the shoreline. The Mini2 is an awesome piece of tech. $419 & $559 in Canada. Hmm... ??? You never know :)
Stunning location, I wish I had access to something like that. Really shows of the capability of Mini 2. I've bough one but waiting for lockdown to end and seeking a good location that is picturesq and legal. I'm in the UK which is a drone no fly zone as far as government and local officials are concerned.
A beautiful video again, Marcus. Looks like the M2 is behaving itself now; that was a really nice flight. If I'm ever lucky enough to get over there the Snake River Canyon is going to be a must visit.👌👍😃
Even with the small increase in power the Mini 2 is still a lightweight drone at about 8oz. It may do slightly better then the Mavic Mini in a bit higher headwinds but, it will still have a hard time with high winds or gusts. Overall it’s a good drone but the weight keeps it from being as stable as a MA2, M2P or heavier drones. Thats just the nature of any lightweight drone. The heavier the drone the more stable it will be overall. Really nice video. Great shots of the area. The Most important thing is to enjoy life. Thanks for the video.
Another great video with great info. As far as the flight, wonder if you have strong rising thermals off the canyon floor or other odd air currents affecting the drone? Kinda weird. And after the last flight you did I said thank you no to the Mini 2...but this time I was quite impressed with the flight and footage. I also love that zoom feature...very cool. Hmm, perhaps there is a Mini 2 in my future after all.
@@IdahoQuadcopter Me too...I've had a few including the Mavic line. Still, I've never seen their drones get tossed around like that. Perhaps this one is just a bit too light to fly in "questionable" conditions.
Hopefully that first flight won't happen again. I think it's the app hurriedly done by DJI to meet the mini 2 release. Beautiful scenery I'm enjoying the flight. God bless!!!!
Thank you for sharing the beautiful video I amazed at the m2 quality but I’m ready to purchase a drone and wonder if the SJRC f11 4K pro or the m12 capture quality can compare to the m2
I'm guessing you might be hitting some thermals in that area? Thanks for your dedicated work in producing enjoyable videos and reviews. I blame you partially for my Mavic Mini V1 purchase. :)
Marcus, what you experienced was probably thermal air currents coming up the side wall of the canyon just as you were coming over the edge of the canyon. It really has little to do with “normal” wind that we think of. Heat from the canyon floor rises and creates a swirling air current over the edge of the canyon wall creating sudden lift currents, that will suddenly momentarily affect the drone. That canyon would be a great place for guys to fly RC Gliders that rely on thermal air currents to keep them flying.. The Mini2 handles the wind incredibly well, almost impossibly well. Go to DC Rainmaker channel, look for “DJI Mini High Wind Test” video......You won’t believe the Mini 2 wind capability. Anyway, I really enjoyed your first 2 videos with the little guy.
Great info, Thank you! Can you, please, tell how much less noise this drone makes compare to Mavic Air 2 ? I need a drone for indoor videos and want to get most comfortable one. Thank you so much!
If you go back to the questions that were possible when you took the original 107 test and there were weather questions and they talked about weather conditions that were possible when flying in mountainous area that causes downdrafts near mountain edges. I am sure that's what you experienced with your Drone over the canyon. Air looks smooth, but pockets of disturbance exits.
OMG, beautiful video! Thanks for this follow-up! I'm wondering if that little glitch during the return was the gimbal pitching, and not the entire drone? I've seen a few other reports of (seemingly) gimbal pitches and jumps when in Sport mode thus far with the Mini 2. I guess we'll all learn more with trial.
That Canon is beautiful and treacherous. I know you use the UAV Forecast app. Have you checked the Wind profile? It tells you forecasted air speed at different altitudes.
Another fantastic video Marcus. A bit worrying the uncontrolled movements the mini 2 makes. Have you contacted DJI about these and even sent off flight logs
Have u sent dji the first flight footage and now this one..i wouldnt wanna fly it again till id no for sure whats up.. my mini 1 used to take some beating in winds but you would never notice it in the video.. that gimbal flicker i dont like. Ill wait till after Christmas i think till there is some firmware updates.problem with new drones the first lot u are like Guinea pigs for dji. Not conviced its wind.enjoyed your mini 1 vids over snake river hopefully more of mini 2 soon.. but with issue resolved
Great video as always. One thing I can tell you is that its dangerous to fly along the edge of the canyon. Often there are significant up/downdrafts along the edge. Stay well to one side or the other. Make sure you have enough altitude to handle a brief surge up or down when crossing over. Your flying has improved tremendously since you first started. I starting to see more coordinated moves involving both sticks as you fly. Your videos are getting better at presenting information and your voice is much more natural. Try some FPV flying and your skills will really improve. Thanks so much Marcus for your time, money and effort you put into all this. Jim O
Hiya Marcus. Glad to see that you got a better flight :) By the way, next to that compass on the ground, it looked like it said "I love you so much" to the right of it :D Waving from The Bahamas.
I’m considering buying a Mini 2 at the Boise Costco. If I buy one, and as a potential “new to be” drone pilot I would like to connect with you and the Idaho Quadcopters.
Hey Marcus. Where are you in relation to where the Great Evil Knievil made his attempt over the canyon in the rocket car? Your fans would probably enjoy a flight over the canyon there if it’s possible? Dale in central Fl here H
Yes, Dennis, many Mini 2 videos that I've seen have the same issue. Many drones will have gimbal movement in sport mode, but this is worse. Let's hope DJI gives us a firmware update.
I've tried it out and it seems to be something with sport mode tilting the drone to far for the gimble to compensate I took mine out in windy conditions with 25 mph gust and had no issues with it drifting away but I did however see the gimble tilting all the time
On the original mini, if you have a corrupted video file because you powdered down the Mini while it was still recording, don’t fret it. Put the SD card back in the Mini and power it back up again with the app connected. Then power down the Mini. The Mini will properly close the video file and you will have all of your footage that you thought you lost. 👍
Or another way from what I understand is to just record another video clip and that will automatically correctly finish off the corrupted file. I've accidentally done this a few times myself by being in a rush.
The 4K is great, but the 4X digital zoom has almost made me run out and buy a Mini 2! I can live with 2.7K on my Mini 1, but have really wished for some type of zoom. Don't know if you follow Dad Random, but he was having trouble with his gimbal glitching on his new Mini 2, also. And I live almost equal distance between you guys. That is strange to see erratic behavior from a DJI... I hope you figure it out.
That glitch you had was definitely not wind. The tilting of the video would not have happened had the drone been blown due to the stability of the gimbal. I think it was some kind of signal interference, possibly a highly directional microwave signal that the drone flew through.
@@IdahoQuadcopter It was just a thought. Microwave signals can cause communication interference seeing how the beam is concentrated in a very narrow path. It might be worth looking into. I'm sure you know the approximate two locations you had these glitches in. Mark spots on a map of where you had both of your instances. Then draw a straight line between those 2 points and beyond both sides. Do some research to see if you can find 2 microwave antennas on 2 towers to see if you can find a dish pointing in the direction of the other tower.
Hey Marcus - about the same price as the Fimi 2020. How about a comparison? Curious...(have a Fimi 2020 but the MA2 has some features that are very appealing).
I think the mini 2 can compete to the mavic air 2 considering the pricepoint. We have the mavic air 2 but I think a smaller drone has more portability..... 4K 30fps Already looks goooooddddddd......
Amazing how the wonders of technology is bringing the true beauty of our planet to our finger tips and brains.

Thank you, yes, I have been in touch with DJI. 👍
Jim O
Thank you for those kind words Jim! I do enjoy flying!
You should get closer to the canyon edge to get and give your drone a better signal...I think.
Thank you! 👍
Hiya Marcus. Glad to see that you got a better flight :) By the way, next to that compass on the ground, it looked like it said "I love you so much" to the right of it :D Waving from The Bahamas.
Thank you Eric. Yes, I saw that message too. 🙂
I’m considering buying a Mini 2 at the Boise Costco. If I buy one, and as a potential “new to be” drone pilot I would like to connect with you and the Idaho Quadcopters.
The Mini 2 is a great drone! Don't forget that we should see the Mini 3 in November. 👍
Hey Marcus. Where are you in relation to where the Great Evil Knievil made his attempt over the canyon in the rocket car? Your fans would probably enjoy a flight over the canyon there if it’s possible? Dale in central Fl here

It's about 120 miles east of where I normally fly at the canyon. 👍
Ni=otice the camera glitch at 19:53. I've seen similar up glitches like this on other Mini 2 flights. Have you an idea of what it is?
Yes, Dennis, many Mini 2 videos that I've seen have the same issue. Many drones will have gimbal movement in sport mode, but this is worse. Let's hope DJI gives us a firmware update.
@@IdahoQuadcopter only criticism I see right now. Keeping me from ordering.
I've tried it out and it seems to be something with sport mode tilting the drone to far for the gimble to compensate I took mine out in windy conditions with 25 mph gust and had no issues with it drifting away but I did however see the gimble tilting all the time
I suspect we'll see a firmware update from DJI soon.
I would politely suggest you stay inside in that much wind. These drones are not cheap.
@@Air_Devil_Leader_One dji care very useful actually they might not replace it for that
Should never fly in such conditions. It is useless video anyway.
Would you recommend the DJI Mini 2 over the Potensic Dreamer Pro for picture quality, quietness?
I like the Potensic Dreamer Pro, but the Mini 2 is a favorite of mine.
A new firmware came out that defaults the RTH to 100 if I'm not mistaken....I could be...
Yes, I hope we don't have to reset every time.
hi there new to the channel enjoying content
Welcome! Thank you so much! 👍
If you must choose between DJI Mini 2 between Hubsan zino 2.which one is good for traveling ?
This one is easy, the Mini 2 for sure. 👍
You are exactly right. Thank you.
It's pretty common for the gimbal to tilt down in sport mode on many drones. I suspect DJI will give us a firmware update soon. 👍
On your app you have wind profile at different elevations did you check it?
Yes, on UAV forecast.
Hello Marcus, having trouble with the remote for the zino 2 plus. Saying the USB disconnected so no fun. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Dan! The OTG cables that Hubsan uses are not the best. Order a quality OTG cable and I suspect it will connect right up. 👍
Thanks Marcus that will probably do the trick 🙂!
That glitch you had was definitely not wind. The tilting of the video would not have happened had the drone been blown due to the stability of the gimbal. I think it was some kind of signal interference, possibly a highly directional microwave signal that the drone flew through.
I've not heard of that before. 👍
Do you generally purchase DJI care refresh for your drones?
Yes, typically I do. I've never had to use it though.
Hey Marcus - about the same price as the Fimi 2020. How about a comparison? Curious...(have a Fimi 2020 but the MA2 has some features that are very appealing).
That's coming up soon. Thank you!
Just wondering what is the maximum height of this footage?
108 meters. 👍
Just a dumb question? If you fly below the canyon wall or below where you take off how far below can you fly?
Honestly I don't know. I've never tried to fly down into the canyon very far. 👍
@@IdahoQuadcopter It kind of looked like on another video I had seen where the altitude was negative anyway interesting to find out... MAYBE?
I think the mini 2 can compete to the mavic air 2 considering the pricepoint. We have the mavic air 2 but I think a smaller drone has more portability..... 4K 30fps Already looks goooooddddddd......
I've got to admit, DJI did a great job with this one. 👍
Hey Buddy. Any reason why you use metric meters instead of feet in your app?
None, other than I like how the metric system works. 👍
