WOW! some really great shots there! We definitely recommend putting the Beacon on the dashboard where it has a clear view of the sky. This will help immensely with GPS performance. Then, you can use the phone to line up your shots and change angles/distance. Hopefully this helps on the next outing! Fly Safe!
Thank you! The beacon on the dash makes a lot of sense. I should have thought of that. All in all, the Skydio 2 did great. The drone just inspires confidence.
Hi once again liked the first part of your filming were the drone was following you in your lovely looking car and I see your doing hand catching a bit more now were before you was a little hesitant to do that put as they say practice makes perfect 👌 and I enjoyed the flight with the mini 2 the snake 🐍 river canyon is something else 👍 and keep up the good filming Marcus...........
Hi Marcus, from Wisconsin. Loved the video and the wind battle. I had my Mini 2 out today in 18 mph sustained with 29 mph gusts. Behaved like a champion. Keep up the good work.
I thought the river was beautiful. Skydio was actually doing fine until it go into the rocks. It looked very dangerous flying into those rocks. I like watching these videos after getting home from the office. Thanks for the lovely videos Marcus. Ray C. Florida
Gotta talk about the Skydio 2. Wind warning aside, that drone is crazy good/amazing❗❗ When you put it to the side and it just floated along among the rocks, well, that would have freaked me out if it was any other drone (actually, it still freaked me out!). To see the rocks flash by between your vehicle and the drone........... Super stuff. Please try again on a day with calm wind. It would be great to see an extended Skydio 2 flight!! Thanks for sharing and be safe Marcus.👍👍😁
Thanks for another informative video, Marcus. I've had the Mini 1 for 6 months now. Everything's OK with it, but couldn't resist the temptation: I just ordered the Mini 2. I love how well it handles the wind (I live in a coastal area, often very windy). Also I like the zoom feature.
Very nice video on a windy day. On the way back that trail up the side of the canyon wall looked interesting. Is that a road for cars or just a walking trail, and it looks farther south from what I could see that it eventually reaches the top of the canyon but not sure. Would be an interesting trip from where your vehicle is parked now to see if you can follow up the trail to the top and then fly back to where the vehicle is parked, if that is possible. Thanks for the great video. Oh, next time hang a fishing line and hook with a worm on it and try a little fishing from the drone in the river lol!!! Happy Flying.
Thanks Marcus for this canyon adventure. I'm sure many enjoyed the flights as I did. Some of your visitors thought you should have waited. Both drones can do some nice things but like anything else, they have their limits and I felt you kept them safe. Thanks for making this an adventure. I enjoy these more than all of the cinematic videos out there. More interesting to me with the commentary than trying to make a perfect yet sometimes boring video with fancy flying angles and crazy, artificial color grading. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video of the Skydio 2 flying among the boulders, but it made me nervous! ;) Kudos for the Mini 2 video over the river and "up close." Enjoyed the M2 flight along the bottom of the canyon. Thanks, Marcus.
Beautiful footage here and my vote goes to the Mini 2 for being able to withstand the winds better than the Skydio. However, I was impressed with the obstacle avoidance when you were flying along the road and it was avoid those rocks beautifully. I must admit I was pretty nervous about hitting one of those boulders. Nicely done.
With the S-Mode of the Mini 2 I was always able to fight against high winds. It's always good to see the comparisons of drones in windy weather conditions.
It was nice to see you at the bottom of canyon, just a shame about all the wind. I've never seen the wind warning from the Skydio before, so that wind must have been really blowing. But at least you did manage to get some good footage before you had to land it.
Looked like the skydio almost hit the rocks, great video. I think you'll love the dji fpv drone. Its a great system, just ordered a third battery and goggle battery clip so the battery doesn't drop...
Another great video, Marcus. Yeah, the wind messed things up for you, but it's still hard to believe how poorly the Skydio handles the wind. You can see judder as it follows, so it clearly struggles. All that said, its obstacle avoidance is second to none. As per usual, the video out of the Mini 2 was amazing
That is a beautiful river, is also looks kind of deep, how do you get to the other side. You films always look great without ND filters even on such a sunny day. Surely, I have been wondering whether it is worth giving out a 100 bucks for ND filters. You seem to be doing just fine on Auto. Thanks for sharing Marcus. You should take a dive into the river but I bet it is ice cold!
Hi Marcus, nice video, do you ever sleep? lol I'm still waiting for you to do the FPV mode with your Mini 2, or your new DJI Air 2s when you get it. You will be surprised on how cool FPV is with those camera drones. My new Autel EVO Pro ll 6k is a flying brick that doesn't know what wind is. It's like a rock in the air, irrespective of the wind.
Good stuff Marcus. But, you need a smaller drone. Think you can get one of those Army spy helicopters? 20 minutes of flight time but the $80k price is a bit over your normal drone =p
@@IdahoQuadcopter I gave my colleague my mini and swooped the air 2s. I might have to swoop the mini 2 though. Does the mini 2 use the ocusence or is it still wifi? Shoot, I'd start to lose reception a few hundred feet away out here in the Bay Area. When I took it to Idaho it worked perfect.
@@michaelcrossley5661 the mini 2 is definitely ocusense. Where I live I can’t go very far in any direction without hitting a restricted zone, so one night I flew in the direction of the seaplane terminal knowing it was closed for the night (and you can hear incoming planes miles away). I got around 5000 ft away before I got way too nervous and came back. No signal loss at any point.
I disagree with most of the comments it just seems to me that you are taking many chances with your drones, maybe you could afford to lose them, Myself I would be very cautious I wouldn’t fly in those kind of wind conditions too much chance on a fly away Especially when you were losing signal I would be petrified of a crash but I am not as experienced as you and probably way more over cautious, but with all the new failsafes built into these newer drones I am sure your confidence level is much higher than mine as I still don’t feel quite comfortable and having a lot of trust in the drone yet until I understand and know it better. But with all the negative publicity as far as drones go, I just would not want to draw any extra attention to a hobby we love to Participate in, And as a new drone pilot I am concerned that any negativity towards our sport would be more fuel for the people who want to take away our privilege to fly. As I said you’re a very competent pilot and experienced but I would never take that chance with my mini 2 I just like it too much and I love to fly it but I’m worried the FAA will try to restrict the privilege of flying as hobbyist. But me being very inexperienced I would definitely just wait for a calmer day to fly.
Thank you Carl. I felt like I was being very safe. 🙂 I can't imagine the FAA would be the least bit interested in the flights in this video, except for entertainment. I do thank you for your concern. Enjoy flying your drone. It is a really fun hobby.
Unfortunately, the FAA is already taking away freedom of hobbyists ... and it’s not because of a flight like this. In the worst case here Marcus would lose his drone; there are no people to hurt, no airports nearby, etc. The risk is mainly to his mini drone. And he demonstrates what a mini 2 owner can expect from it - and that’s good knowledge to share. I fee your concern about the FAA and the restrictions and requirements. But it’s already here! It’s been happening and is happening already over the last 5 years; follow the money trail. Look at who the Drone Advisory Committee is packed with. It is the big corporations, not the hobbyists which has lead to illogical and burdensome propositions of Remote ID. And rules that don’t end up truly enhancing safety at all but just make it harder for us to fly legally conducting the same flights we do now with an incredible overall safety record as it is. Despite this, and lack of a real risk assessment by the FAA, which should tell you that hobbyists are getting screwed no matter what.
Nice flight Marcus. The Skydio 2 footage at the beginning had me at the edge of my seat with those big boulders so close.
Isn't that Skydio 2 amazing. 🙂 That was a lot of fun. Thank you Sean. 👍
Great job! Marcus. This place never gets old.

Great shots of the Snake River. Not surprised that the little Mini 2 outdid the Skydio. DJI is #1 in the market for a reason. Thanks for sharing.

Loved seeing the canyon again! Thanks for another very enjoyable video, and I look forward to seeing whether that “ramp” is natural or man-made!
Thank you! Yes, I need to get a drone up close and personal on that ramp. 👍
Nice to see the river from a different view. Very close to those large rocks with the Skydio, I was expecting a crash. But so pleased it didn't.
Yeah, that Skydio 2 is a smart drone. 🙂 Thank you!
