DJI Mavic 3 - Second Flight - Once Again At The Snake River Canyon

- This is my second flight with the DJI Mavic 3. This drone is so fast smooth and capable. What a pleasure to fly! In this video I attempt to take the drone to negative altitude below the rim of the canyon with predictable results. It was a fun scenic flight. I hope you enjoy it.

You could easily fly a Mavic 3 Kevin. DJI makes them very easy to fly.

Nice view. Its Advanced RΤΗ when obstacle sensors and gps is active then it does not go to rth height it goes straight in the height that it is and when it reaches to home point it goes down and lowers in the way and not when it reaches above homepoint.
Not sure If I would trust the drone getting over obstacles between you & the drone. Worth a test.

Marcus you might want to play with the Focus mode on your iPhone (in control panel) and set up a new focus group that will turn off notifications and turn on do not disturb when you are flying. I haven't set one up yet as I just thought about doing it when I saw the messages pop up on your iPhone during screen record. Nice video. Bob

Brilliant macros that is a thing of beauty I took my air 2 out from my garden the other day and I did return to home 3 times with the landing matt and it was bang on each time so impressive so I hope with the M3 they sort that out as usual my friend great video and great commentary 😁👍👌🇬🇧

How about taking it off then go over te cliff and land it below where the river is?? Curious if the altitude will go into the negative when you go below your own take off height??? Then you can see how deep it goes down...

That was a very interesting flight Marcus, especially the return to home sequence when below the canyon rim. I will have to remember to set my RTH to at least 150 ft when amongst hills below my take off height. Another amazing video my friend and my M3 is waiting for its first flight on Sunday. I saw that one as well and was wondering what that is. It could be something that went back to the mining days, who knows.
Marcus thanks for bringing us along for this flight, as someone just getting into drone flying it was great to watch you without being in a rush and just letting it all sink in. Glad you’re enjoying the Mavic 3 and looking forward to watching plenty more of your reviews of this drone. People say it’s too expensive but for me the value is in the usability and pleasure you get from the product, the tech in that thing doesn’t come cheap, especially that camera. Thanks. 👏

Very smooth second flight of the Mavic 3 drone. The video had good definition and was sharp even in the corners. It was a beautiful day to fly the canyon, even in the bright sunlight of midday. This new Mavic is a keeper.

Marcus thank you for your channel and content, I've only been flying drones for a year now, but droning aside, thanks to your content I want to visit The Snake River Canyon to of course fly (drone) but also hike, possibly fish and perhaps cycle if possible in fast approaching 2022............

Hi Marcus, your location at the snake river has got to be one of the best for flying a droneand having the mavic 3 along at the same time makes for a perfect mix, thanks for a really enjoying video
Remember,,,if using smart RTH, it doesn’t need to get to rth altitude. It will just avoid things to perform RTH . Once cleared canyon wall, it didn’t detect anything to avoid so proceeded at that altitude.

Marcus, Just a question. At about 9:15 on the video you come out of RTH and the ground appears to have thousands of round divots in it. Do you know if that is natural or was someone digging holes ? Maybe a dumb question but it just caught my eye. Thanks

My fimi 2020 is very quiet also and a very smooth flyer im impressed for the price.its got such a nice hum about it..and I think the controller that fits my tablet is very nice to hold one of my very favorite controllers .nice job on the filming would of liked to seen a zoom shot of that LAKE THAT YOU POINTED OUT.that would of been nice.

Good review. DJI, 3 years to develop the product and no precision landing on launch, when Hubsan did it people were all complaining

The Mavic 3 image is really awesomely stunning, Marcus. When the quad went bellow the ridge's edge, the direct line of sight to the RC was ostructed, the communication signal faded to zero immediately. As far as the auto-RTH, I think you proved that the Mavic 3 Intelligent RTH works also well from a negative attitude.

Yes it has precision landing but you must go straight up in seven meters and stay there for some seconds. Thats why
It might be O3+ but the RC-N1 controller is still Occusync 2.0. They should put a disclaimer if they pair it with that controller. You need the RC Pro to have true O3+
Very nice Marcus. The footage looks beautiful and I am very tempted to get this drone. But we’re going into winter here so I might give it a little time for any bugs to turn up. But for those who can afford it it seems like a terrific purchase. The flight time is what really has me interested.

Marcus, I noted that when you first took off you did not get a "Home Point set" notification, and you were very involved with close approach/obstacle avoidance, without taking it up to the usual DJI 23ft/7m Home Point establishing altitude before executing your dronie. Perhaps that might explain the poor RTH and Precision Landing, rather than not having the feature enabled.

Morning brother Crawford. Great 👍 video as always Sir. The Dji Mavic 3 is just a beast all the way around. Now my concern is regarding the regular controller. And using the iPhone 📱. I hate the fact that the IPhone 📱 and the iPad both the screen gets darker and darker when the sun ☀️ is directly on it. Are you thinking about getting the RC Pro for the bad boy? Thanks 🙏 for all you do and please keep flying.

Noticed around 16.17 seconds there seems to be some formations on the south side of the river. Do you know the story behind that? Looks like a river calming formation but also looks maybe to be old ruins too. Again when you lost connection during negative ft and it started blind RTH i was nervous it wasnt going to clear the Rim of the Canyon....YIKES
I'd like to know what those squares are too. No doubt something was built there.
Marcus that was great check out returned home when you’re in sport mode does it switch back into normal mode or if it comes home in sport mode is the obstacle avoidance on or off make me a video

Beautiful scenery Marcus! You've got the best place to fly there. Hey, when you were on your way back and turned around flying backwards on the left side of the river at the bottom there were rectangular rock formations, definitely looked man made. Any idea what they are?

You mentioned cellular. I usually leave my phone on "do not disturb" to stop the phone from ringing 5 times a day with those car warranty predators but turn off the "do not disturb" if I'm flying in an area that requires LAANC approval.

Take off , hover 20 feet above landing mat , wait for a minute so the drone assesses your location and exact position . When you auto return to home landing will be pinpoint

10 days later after posting this vid just pops up as recommended even though I have been subscribed from very early. Now a few weeks in from release we have still only had two sales of this drone from hundreds of enquires. The cost of the basic package alone has killed sales and after checking our sales from the last few years any new dji quad on average generally generates around 300 sales in the first few weeks. The cost really is a factor with this bird and we could not get a a black friday cyber weekend deal with dji. Interesting we at least seem to have found the sealing point of our paying public with this quad and Marcus your chanel name tells us what this product is. A drone is a different product but this quadcopter really is suffering from its cost in our sales sphere but let's see where Christmas takes us I suppose.
No question the price of the Mavic 3 will stop many in their tracks. The Air 2S is a phenomenal product for less than half the cost.

My wife would call me at the worst possible time while flying. Now I use a separate device and wirelessly tether, with a Bluetooth earbud in one ear connected to my phone. It is important to take all calls when you can, I understand that. I mostly fly around people but never over them. Would be more inclined to use my phone while flying in an open beautiful area like SRC. How I fly though, it doesn't feel safe.
