I honestly can’t stand thick characters when it comes to shows, but Trigger is a definite exception. He isn’t rude, his character is never flanderised. I was devastated when Roger passed away
@Round 1 Its amazing how much he is remembered in the show despite having such a short amount of lines.
A misconception about Triggers' character, in that he is thick. He is actually smart as demonstrated by his reverse psychology at the end of this scene.
He was such a wholesome character too and a real good pal to Del and Dave
I think there's a degree of flanderisation, he was much more conversational early on

@A Friend: I like the bit where they are all toasting Rodney and Cassandra due to her being pregnant and there is a pause in the toast and then you hear Trigger out of shot say "Dave". LMHO.
I've watched this scene so many times and I've only just noticed Trigger actually calls Rodney by his proper name at 1:37 probably the only time in the entire length of the sitcom he calls him by his genuine name and means it. Genius.
Oh, and 1:04 Trigger - "Oh well, I shall have to get used to calling you *Rodney* ." "Thank you". Trigger - "Ere Basil, you gonna get this meeting started? Me and *Dave* ain't got all night!" It's gonna take a while for Trigger to get used to it!! This clip makes me laugh so much.
When everyone wishes Rodney happy birthday and you hear Dave at the end haha.
Or when the Nag’s Head regulars propose a toast to Cassandra and Rodney and all those present say “Cassandra and Rodney” - all except Trigger, who says “Cassandra and Dave!”.
I bet he would call digital channel Dave “Rodney!”.
RIP Trigger. My favourite character in the whole sitcom. I used to watch each episode thinking "I hope Trig's in this one"...he used to make me laugh so much...Sullivan was an outstanding writer and Roger played the part of Trigger so well.

The only time Trig gets its right and it's to stitch up Rodney. Sullivan's writing is just genius. Pure wit & Timeless. Talk about bringing a whole world to life. Comedy royalty.

Fools and Horses was one of the best sitcoms on TV. I really enjoyed Rock and Chips, the prequel to Fools and Horses. Its a shame there were only three episodes made due to the death of John Sullivan.
It is THE best sitcom ever.

My dad's girlfriend's little boy is Joshua, but when I first met him, he looked like a cute little Eskimo (he was wearing this kind of hoody that an Eskimo would wear). Ever since then, the name stuck, and I kept calling him Eskimo until he answered to it eventually 😂... Now it's weird when I call him by his real name. The funny thing is, he answers to that name as well... Sometimes more than his actual name.
Perhaps Trigger got too use to calling him Dave, and that's why he carries on calling Rodney Dave ? :)

Use to watch Only Foole and Horses with my dad when I was a kid.
Ofcourse they were funny then, but there is a level of appreciation for the comedy gold you can only get when you reach a certain age.
