Zachary, thank you very much for this video. It cleared up questions I had about how 1 wire regulators are wired. Showing the instructions was super useful. Explaining swapping the insulators and the pulse wire made it possible for me to rebuild a 1 wire alternator. Thanks, again!
Is there anything different about that regulator other than that extra post that would stop you from doing everything you did except, using the old regulator , jumping number 1 pin from it to the battery post and using the old regulator? does extra post on the new Regulator just go to the number one pin? Grounding the brush like that seems not good? Thanks. For decades, everything I own eventually gets one of those alternators, but i've just been jumping # 1 and 2 pins. S***, I went back and saw your other videos. I didn't learn till this morning A body of mine Told me you could make a Ford Internal regulator alternator one wire.
Im not entirely sure where the post is connected to. We buy these in bulk from regitar and they dont have any diagrams for the regulator, only a instructions kit on how you assemble it. My guess is that they dont want other people making their own. It does work differently than a normal regulator and a normal one wire would blow out if you tried hooking it up the same way as this one. My guess is the internal regulator chip and capacitor inside of it is wired completely different than a standard one. These excite through ac current instead of the diode trio or L terminal. All i know is that they work well and have people even use them for wind generators as emergency power.
@ZacheryR-fg1qp I made my bulk order right after your video. I already have 10 SI on a 76 F250,70 mach 1,49 9N and a fourk lift, and 100 % solar in nw oklahoma . Would not be surprised if this video goes viral as far as handy videos can go! Have a good day.and Thanks again
The manufacturer states its only compatible with 10SI 12SI, 15SI, 17SI AND 27SI units. Ive never tried one in a 19SI so im not sure if it would work. You could just use a 22si one wire regulator in its place on a 19si since they use similar parts or a low cut in regulator for a 10si . Sen 22si Part 230-12212, 10si sen part 230-12029.
