- I’ll be swapping the wiring harness in my 1963 Corvair van. In preparation, I wanted to walk thru the wiring of the new internally regulated alternator. I’ve had good luck with this wiring schematic on other vehicles and don’t anticipate any issues. I’m an amateur at building vehicles, please consult a certified mechanic for answers to technical questions. #10SI #Corvair

The best video on the subject explains everything in detail. Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you Mike ! I have a 66 Mustang and you just clarified for me what I need to do with an idiot light. I have an external regulator but the excite wire is my main concern and thanks to you, I understand what needs to be done and why.
Great video Mike. Your knowledge of electrical components is amazing. 😁
Thanks Mike. I’m having a lot of fun with this van. I’ll be pulling and replacing the fuse block and wiring harness this week.
Thank you so much. Great tutorial
Glad it was helpful!
GREAT VIDEO
Thanks.
I ,use Chevy GM alternators on all of my trucks and tractors equipment, and I only use the nut post on the back, straight to the positive side of the battery, I have had on problems with my way ,for 30 years,, it as simple one wire charging system,on the planet. Ok thanks BigAl California.
Great explanation, simple example. Great video thanks.
Thanks!
Thank you for the video. I will add that if you do not want to use a diode, you can get a good resolve by using an LED instead of an ordinary 194 bulb.
This way you get your light, and assurance of no backfeed.
I add a hidden ignition switch to deter thieves, usually a foot switch under the dash : )
I often do the same. 👍🏻
Nice demonstration video.
REALLY GOOD VIDEO SIR THANK YOU
Thanks.
Ur simple video help me a lot😊

Thanks for watching!
Nice. I always and still do have a air cooled vehicle in the garage. 47 years i have owned a 65 vw beetle got from org owner. Stacks of repair bills since new. L 519 paint code 3 year only 64,65,66, Bahama blue. Factory sunroof. # matching car. I think i paid way to much back then. I paid $2200.00 😊
That’s awesome. I hope to have this one for a while.
Great video
Thanks!
good explaination
Thanks!
Thanks bro 🙏
Sir great video , Do you have a part number of Alternator, And guy with corvair parts for sale information, Thks
I don’t have a part number. I just went to parts store and told them I needed an alternator for a 1974 Chevy pickup.
Send me an email and I’ll give you the guys phone number.
Hey Mike, I know your in the middle of the old smoky videos but I was wondering when you have time could you do a video on how to adjust the cam chain tensioner on a ct70? None I can find out there? Thanks
Just wondering do u sell some of the older parts for the ct70?
Sorry, no, I’m not in the parts business. I build so many bikes, I’m constantly on the hunt for used parts myself.
the number one wire goes to excite it, you did it backwards by putting number 2 there
🤣
Just do it.
If this doesn't work I'm going to sue you.
🤣🤣🤣
Duh! Just show how to hook it up!
Duh! Talk too long! Just show how!
The goal of the video isn’t to show how something is done. The goal is to make money thru TH-cam. The longer the video, the more opportunities for advertisers to jump in.
No mr.mike that red wire in pig tail will go to battery DONT hook to the battery terminal on alternator ! WHY because that wire coming from battery to alternator is one way power you tell me how will power get back to battery to charge it if it's only going back into alternator !!! BEEN THERE IT WONT CHARGE BATTERY YOUR WAY SIR!
I’ve wired this way on about half dozen vehicles and each one charged properly. I’ll keep it the way it is.
Great video Mike. Thanks
@@davidliste5961 Thanks!
You sir are clueless! The red wire from 2 always goes to the battery connection on the alternator. Ask anyone.
@user-cg9ly4wg2s I’m OK with being clueless. I’ve wired many, many alternators exactly as I show in the video and they all charge and work perfect. I have no reason to ask anyone, my method was taught to me by a master auto electrician/alternator rebuilder nearly 30 years ago.
