Looks good. I would just spend the extra 5 minutes to remove the calipers, remove the rotor and brake pads, put the capers back on loosely, then paint.
Exactly what I did and much quicker and cleaner look than taping it all up. I never understood why people don't remove the 4 bolts which also makes it easier to get full coverage with painting stuff you don't want paint on.
I've been wanting to paint mine for roughly 2 years. I have been waiting until i need new pads and rotors, which i've needed badly for a year lol. I finally got the ambition to paint them and do the brakes.
Quick tip. If you want to keep your “Corvette” ( or any lettering) a different color, spray that first. Allow it to fully dry. Then Spray your main color on. Before the main color dries all the way, take a rag with enamel reducer or thinner on a small area, like finger tip size, and scrub off the main color revealing the lettered color. Then spray your clear over the top of it all.
Just stumbled across your video, SUPER helpful as I'm looking to do this on my car. Question, why did you choose to spray the paint on instead of using a brush? Is spraying considered the more superior method? Thx!
Also the quickest and easiest way all of that will deteriorate and come off. If you the "do it right, do it once" kind of person, take your calipers off and take them to be powder coated. There are certain rules in every industry and they are there for a reason. Brake calipers and rims > powder coat NOT spray paint.
I would prefer powder coating cuz it would last much longer. To save money, you can build your own heating oven instead of sending it to the professionals.
Or you just don't want to lol I've done mine and just left them on didn't want to bother with having to hang the lines up or bleed my lines so its worth it in that aspect
Pretty good job, but why do such a meticulous job of masking for overspray and then overspray your driveway. Put a drop down on the driveway. After 35 years of professional painting, believe me overspray and tracking wet paint is a no no. Don't do it.
Dude, you need new rotors, they are rusty AF and old! If you're going to show people tutorials, show them the right way. What's the point in making the calipers pretty if you aren't properly maintaining your vehicle. Plus, teaching people that over spray is ok is wack.
RELAX PEOPLE THE OVERSPRAY ON THE DRIVEWAY CAME OFF AFTER THE FIRST RAINSTORM 🤗🙄
Your luck is better than mine with overspray....🤣🤣
I jacked up half the stuff in my shop with some red one time....lesson learned....!😁
So glad to hear this good sir, great job and stunning cars you have👍🏼 big love from🏴
This is the most proper way of spraying the caliper, shows all the details of masking step. thanks for the video
I did the same razor blade trick when I painted my calipers blue. The yellow looks awesome!!!
Hows the paint job holding up?

Excellent attention to detail and excellent presentation skills! You’ve given me the inspiration to refinish mine. Thanks.
New c5 z06 owner from sweden👍🏻 keep up the good content😇
This is great. Didn't want to take the calipers off & using a wire brush on a drill is excellent thanx 👍
Super helpful. I noticed you didn't prime, did it hold up?
great video. i like that you did all four at the same time. how long did it take to do all four calipers at the same time.
Title should’ve been “How to paint brake calipers and driveway 😂🍻
Hahah I noticed it as I read your comment 😂

I have a burgundy 2001 c5 convertible with yellow calipers. Chrome 5 star wheels. It looks amazing. Great choice on the color bro.
Looking good - C5 owner from California.
Wow! Much easier but neatly done. Wow!
I like the color choice alot with that paint
What did your Dad say about all the over spray that was left on the driveway?
That is what I want to know. Son you have a new job. Its called painting the driveway black again. LOL
😂🤣
I do the dirty stuff at your moms house 🤪
Btw this was not directed at you or anyone else so we don't have to fight about it
Do the prep work (sanding) need to be done with brand new calipers
Any baking? Take it for a spin to bake paint? Or just let it sit overnight?
U f'ed up someone's driveway.....🤣🤣🤣
Brake slammers look good though.....😁
Nice job but I'm with icurt06. What about that driveway?
Good video dude. I'll be using this method. Much appreciated. 😁👍
Just stumbled across your video, SUPER helpful as I'm looking to do this on my car. Question, why did you choose to spray the paint on instead of using a brush? Is spraying considered the more superior method? Thx!
Yes, it provides an even paint finish than brushing.
Best caliper paint video I've seen
They look cool just sanded
Great vid.
How long did you wait before driving?
Drying time?
1 hour to dry to touch and id wait atleast 3 hours to drive on them so 1 hour to put wheel back on and 3 hours till you can drive
another video said 24 hours to wait as that is what the paint was advising
after paint is dry use 100 grit paper on a small piece of wood to lightly sand corvette letters
Nice !! First guy I actually seen turn the wheel to hit the back spots (that’s what she said lol” 🔥
@@jayman81424 haha nice!
@@hhedges They deleted my comment, I think OP is a glue eater too.
... nice paint job on your driveway dude ... :) ... old Army adaje ... 7Ps mate 7Ps ... Prior, Preparation and Planning, Prevents, Piss, Poor, Performance ... :)
Its been 2 yrs since you post this videos how is the paint on your calipers right now??
How many spray can you use for 4 caliper ?
You can speed up the process with a heat gun at low temp to quickly dry
No primer before painting?
Video was a year ago, so how did this technique hold up ??? Using the VHT paint. Or you sold the car and don't know.
How many cans did you end up using?
The VHT brake paint is good paint but I was surprised how easily it chipped. Like he said you need to clear coat it!
They look awesome!! Nice job man. Black wheels ?!
No primer necessary?
Thanks for video. Looks very good. 👍
hmm...no primer on the bare metal?
Awesome mines next ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That must not be your driveway 😳 you covered everything except that…..good video!
His parents are going to be pissed! "Hey Dad, look at my calipers!" "Hey son, why did you paint the street?" 🤣
@@mskinetik Just spray paint the driveway black 🤣
Do you need primer for VHT caliper paint?
Yea that’s what I’m wondering
That came out awsome!!!

Thank you for this video
enjoying that yellow driveway still?
Thanks for the share.
Does that stuff stain your driveway??
Looks like it!!!
Black or silver paint right over the yellow paint for the Corvette wording would have been easier. Qtip for painting
No primer?
Nice job!
Primer is what you need first
you should use a primer so the paint will stick better
Fabulous!!!
The calipers look awesome 👏
Great video thanks
Great video... so you dont need a primer
I would prefer powder coating cuz it would last much longer. To save money, you can build your own heating oven instead of sending it to the professionals.
If you want to paint your calipers but don't know how to remove them it might be time to learn.
Or you just don't want to lol I've done mine and just left them on didn't want to bother with having to hang the lines up or bleed my lines so its worth it in that aspect
could you just skip the paint and just clear coat the calipers?
sweet boots
I did mine similar but forgot to clear coat
Clear is a must! I found the VHT brake paint chipped very easy!
No primer needed??
You get a thumbs up just for the hat...
Where is prime dude
Hey mister. You're getting spray paint all over your dads driveway !
No! Hell, NO! Spray high heat primer before base coat.
I agree 100% if you want them to last a long time high heat primer before putting on the base coat is the way to go
Isn't it like two bolts, just take them off.
Yes but you have to bleed the brake fluid
@@h2rfl105 only if you disconnect the brake line.
@@Chimp_Assassin you’re going to have to disconnect the line you want to remove them lol.
@@h2rfl105 No, you can just unbolt them and move them around, just hang them in the wheel arch, much easier to spray properly.
Definitely wear a mask unless you love the pain of headaches. You thank this comment later.
Would have been better to take the caliper off... but looks great non the less
Ya but if you don't want to deal with having to bleed lines or worry about lines being pinched its worth it
And cover the driveway 😂😂😂
Hey man I managed to fix your audio so the hissing is gone and made it stereo. Hit me up if you want to see it
Hey man how’d you fix it?
@@DriveHub Audacity helped it out . It's not 100% perfect but sounds better here's a sample..th-cam.com/video/vChOgXa9wh4/w-d-xo.html
@@DriveHub posted a link in your comments its probably in your held for review section
@@SuperMechguy That does sound much better wow! What exactly is Audacity?
@@DriveHub it's an audio editing program that's very versatile.
Wonder if he uses the other hub😆😆😆
Is it just me or does this look kinda orange more than bring yellow…
Well, tbh... i'd rather get knowledge how to take calipers off (WAY less time needed) xD Anyway... nice.. uhm.. protection.
You owe dad some seal coat
"quickest"

Cover the driveway!
Gloves and mask? that's not extra protection, everyone I see at the store is wearing that.
U painted the ground
😂 would have been a lot easier to remove the caliper and paint it
Only two GO AHEADS , Not bad
👍👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pro tip: Don’t attempt this IF you can not successfully removed from brake disc.
Why TF would you paint the caliper bracket too???? No
I'm with you Jarren, Do not paint the brackets
His car, he can do what he wants with it
Check out that driveway. Yikes!
How in the world did you get the yellow spray paint spot on your driveway!!
Next time place a cardboard underneath so your parents wont complain 😆
All the money invested on that 6 cylinder challenger u could've invest it on a scatpack 😢😢

Too much time into that just buy the covers!
Honestly you can skip alot of it including clear if you don't mind having to redo it in a couple years
There junk
малярным скотчем надо было заматывать, а не изолентой синией
No primer?
