Ok people lets talk about thermodynamics for a second... the relations between heat and other forms of energy (such as mechanical, electrical, or chemical energy), and, by extension, of the relationships between all forms of energy. Break Galipers never get hot because the pads vs the rotors are the ones creating the heated energy ! Its like touching your oven when you are cooking something in it... Do you burn your hand when touching the oven ? No, because the heat is in the oven with the food being cooked ! In other words to make this simple, you do not need to use High Temp paint to paint your Galipers... If it gives you piece of mind then use it ! But a Galiper never gets hot to the point of bubbling paint !
Face Palm! It's primer first, then BASE coat which is the BASE for the anodized colour, the base has the metallic in the paint which shines through the opaque blue to give the anodized effect.
They look great! I was wondering why you went base coat then primer, do the instructions say to do that? I would think you would go primer first, then base coat, color then finally clear.
Outstanding video with all the details for exactly the project I will be doing soon -- though as others have mentioned the Primer and Metalcast base coats should definitely be reversed with primer first and metalcast base directly under the metalcast blue coats to achieve maximum results. But otherwise having the links to all the paint products is super helpful!
Do recall how much time was needed start to finish? Were you able to get the fronts done in 1 day with all of the dry times? And, is there a reason you didn't do all 4 at the same time? Absolutely beautiful job!!
The fronts took approximately 2/3hrs. I guess you could do all 4 at same time but I didn’t. Thanks, everything has been holding up great with no issues 3k mikes later
Most video's I've watched, people take the entire assembly apart. I will say this works just fine if you don't mind painting over some of the metal and rubber components.
I’ve seen guys use regular enamel paint. And the heat will eventually destroy the paints finish. Brakes get seriously hot. High heat paint is what’s needed. All car manufacturers use high temp paint on brake components.
It appears the coats are in the wrong order. Should be Primer, base coat then color. Doing it this way totally negates the use of the base coat as that is what shines through the color. The way you have done it the finish actually looks more like straight color, rather than the anodized look which would have been if you used the base coat under the color, as the color is actually a colored clear. If you know something we don't as to the reason of your order of coats, please advise. Many thanks and the stickers were a nice touch.
I immediately thought this very same thing while watching the video -- though it's an awesome video and exactly what I wanted to see including this color, it's a bummer that the coats were done in the wrong order for him and the audience 😕
This came out very well but why did the anodized silver come first than the primer. I don’t mean to compare but this reminds me of the valve cover that chrisfix did and the primer went first then the silver. Btw this video inspired me to redo mine again.
I have the same.question I think they copy steps from other vids. The only reason to do that is for reaching the metal, but it would be just very little mist. Then primer. If you put 100 paint it is pointless to use primer.

A lot of work and over spray is still a big issue x across 4 corners - the other concern is that the paint, via a rattle can, is thinned down to get it out of the nozzle...it's so thin it can start flaking in a few weeks. The brush on system has very thick enamel, that smooths itself on application so no brush strokes, and best of all - no over spray. The issue with the brush on, once you start, unless you have all 4 corners in the air at the same time, you might not get all of them done inside the dry time for the resin / epoxy like paint, that starts to harden after 3 hours.
