the original generations class drift was my first (and only) transformers figure growing up. as a broke college student I can't even dream about owning this but it hits my nostalgia spot SO HARD this piece looks incredible. great review anthony, really brought a smile to my face seeing drift again
My GOD. I've never cared about Transformers in my whole life, but I love this figure.
Yeah aside from the movies I don’t remember ever being into transformers once, but this 300 dollar figure is VEEEERY tempting, well, guess I’m doing 50 plus hours each week then
I’m with you on the transform vs. non-transforming issue. Don’t get me wrong; I’m quite impressed by the amazing engineering that goes into the transforming figures these days. But the vehicle modes on even the best transformers aren’t so great looking that I would display them that way. (I only did that with the Binaltech/Alternators but those were intended to look great as collector vehicle pieces that also just happened to transform into robots.) So yeah; my Transformers collection is displayed as robots only. It does not matter to me one bit if a figure transforms or not-that feature is virtually wasted on someone like me. If it looks good on the shelf, that’s all that matters. And if not transforming means getting a figure that looks this fantastic, all the more reason to skip that feature. At any rate, great review. This is a truly amazing figure.
I see there's already a pretty good candidate for the best in the top 10 best action figures of 2018. However, let's wait and see. Nice figure indeed.
Man to hear the joy in ur voice how Awsome detailed this figure is. Make think of a Gundam. The clean detail and the lights. Well worth the price for sure.

At first I was like "you must be crazy, $300!", but then the articulation started reminding me of Sentinel figures and the larger ones are between $200-270 ish range, so I guess the price isn't as ridiculous as I initially thought. But like some others here I also have the MAS-01 and that line makes this one a non-starter for me. And if anybody thinks spending this much money one a non-transforming Transformer is crazy, just look at the cost of the statues.
I LOVE DRIFT, HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN THE IDW G1 CONTINUITY(the first one)!!!
Flame Toys is doing things in a very smart way. Luxury Action Figures, Model Kits and now already assembled/painted Model Kits. Thumb up!
At the price it is, I would love to see them include a car model as well rather than require a transformation, but even without it, this thing looks incredible and I’m now debating picking one up simply because of how impressive it is and how well-engineered it is. Great review!

Great video Anthony!!! I absolutely love drift and this looks like an amazing piece. I do have the generations drift that transforms as well as the Takara exclusive version of him as a Decepticon as I love his character. I probably won't buy this but if they come out with his decepticon version I think he was called,Death Lock then I would have to buy both. Id also love to see them make the DJD. Now that would be an expensive line but so worth it...
ty because I just found out about this figure today and I am so tempted to pull but after your video, it's now being shipped and now you have a fan. Also wish we could have seen some poses with the cloak. But all and all great video.

At first i was like $300!?!?!? But by the end of the review i was just so happy that I'm not a big transformers fan. Because had i been, I'd be hard pressed not to pick one up😅

It's basically a Gundam since its based on the idw design which is very Gundamesque imo
Yeah, or the Super Robot Taisen series.
Drift took a LOT of design cues from Gundam.

ew no. i dont like that look at all. not for this. not for the exia. not even for something like the crossbones gundam. not my taste.
The design is highly inspire by a Master Grade Gundam kit. From the skirts to the parts separation. Like a MG made into an action figure. Simply amazing!

i mean..those things have to be designed that way to work so...it's more just practicality than anything else. like saying one care is copying another because the wheels are connected generally the same way.

Anthony, you really need to get into modelkits, or Gunplas to be exact, i can't stand it that you're so amazed with the articulation of this figure.

After watching your catalog of videos from the last few months, this is the happiest I've seen you. So, you need $300 toys... hahaha...
It is a beautiful figure regardless if it transforms or not. The classic robot face - beautiful! The frame/crown of his face is Gundam like or even Optimus like? And the rest of the body and the lights... It is a marvelous figure but way out of my budget for a toy.
More expensive figures are more impressive. It has nothing to do with happiness.

I wonder how big he is compared to that third party Bludgeon. I would so get both to have a “Master Vs Apprentice” kind of display if they’re kind of the same size.

Well figure is amazing.. But, yeah that price point. Most I've paid for a figure was Make Toys Pandinus, but that was a larger scale figure. That said, this guy wins in engineering, paint, and articulation... My biggest issue is that it doesn't really match my current collection in design, other than that, it's perfect. And, I'm definitely considering this guy.... Great review!
Wish It was bigger to justify the price point more, since it's as expensive as a regular hot toy. Otherwise, a dope action figure, but I'm good with my MAS Alliance Optimus Prime.
size only justifies a price point when it's the main thing the figure offers. you're paying for qc and engineering. this puts hot toys to shame in ever category which is fairly comparable. no clothing or human sculpting of course.

It’s pricey for for the size , but completely agree that it is a great looking figure of the character an with a light up feature adds to however subtract for the unglueing you experienced, an on that about other company under the third party halo who’ve made amazing figures with high quality an details an light up features an are on a very larger scale at a 20” mark + an at most are 150 an least 50 so there is that point , however if people absolutely must have the transformer aspect maybe the could through in a voucher for MMC’s IDW Drift to sit in car mode for whatever reason they may want that to be present , people remember to use that imagination that’s what got is here to start with , with companies deciding if the owner of said property is just going to phone it in we’ll do it our selves out of love of the , an yes I mean this 100% Art of it that applies to everything master paintings an sculptures throughout history to what we love today like the robots in disguise 😎🔱😎 truthfully MMC’s Drift looks off a lot an it’s in the shape of the chest piece which wouldn’t stand out so much if the legs or more specifically the below knees didn’t look so skinny compared to the shoulder pads width anyway this is a great looking representation of the character an the Artist who gave him form
Being their first product, I’m very impressed. Puts my 3A Optimus Prime to shame even when it was a bigger robot and $100 more in price point. Flame Toys is sure to succeed.
this is the best Design of Drift rather than BAYFORMER's Drift... I hate that design. but this Drift right here I love this, I would buy this if I have enough money.
I don't even like transformers but damn.......that thing is a machine...like a real mini robot haha

The figure on it’s own is amazing. I like transformers that transform, but the important thing is that it looks a lot more like a gundam than a transformer. I’m not into gundam, so not for me. Objectibly it’s an amazing piece. Thanks for the review Anthony, very cool stuff.

I just saw the image of that design, and yeah it does look a lot like that. It does look great, and those lights are just amazing. Darn, I don’t need reasons to buy it, ha.
If you enjoy really intricate figures with awesome lighting, I suggest you take a look at perfect grade exia gundam lighting edition. Yes, it's a model kit, but god, does it look nice, the articulation is second to none and all those LEDs look incredible all lit up and changing colours and whatnot

I can’t remember if this is a chemical attack design but it’s very similar to the sentinel iron man figures. But anywho I’m just waiting on the prices for the model kits of scream and prime they are doing. Hoping they aren’t bonkers expensive.

Damn thing is beautiful. But man, 300 dollars?! You can get a Macross DX Chogokin from Bandai with that kind of money. Those are also imported, have the same level of quality and detail, lots of diecast, come with a lot of accesories and they're basically triple changers.
DX chogokin's prices get jacked up in the secondary market tho.
if you missed your chance to PO, prepare to pay $100+ more than retail price.

the cloak is not a good design choice irl. in the comics, sure. in the real world... it looks weird and hides the figure. ive never liked cloaks on mecha.
The price is a pain in the ass yet ill buy two anywho am i wrong if i wanted to customize the figure

it's the idw comics design. they are much more stylistically dynamic than your traditional transformer.

Sean Morales iirc, not long ago they announced their partnership with capcom had ended. I believe it was said that capcom wouldn't approve any new Megaman character designs (ironically around that time a new truforce styled alternate skin for zero was added to mvci along with a truforce skin for x). More than likely they're now shopping around for other licenses or creating an original piece.
Janu Leatham that sucks really wanted a zero, and I saw the costumes that's why I thought it was in the works. Oh well guess we'll just hope someone can make an equally bad ass zero figure

you couldnt even come close to something like this for $150... not remotely. engineering and qc are very expensive.
