“Ratchets peaceful death many years later” holy crap someone in the idw comic DIDNT have a brutal death?
If anyone deserved not having one, it was Ratchet.
I find it was wrong since there were a number of Cybertronians older than Ratchet. Even Drift was older than Ratchet.
Cyclonus and Tailgate got their happy ending ☺ but others..... yeeahh😢
P.s. well, to be honest, there were others who survived, but are they happy?

@@dnprime1737 Flame Toys (a partner of Hasbro) made a version of SG Drift. You can't transform him because Flame Toys makes figures to be highly detailed and articulated, which unfortunately sacrifices the Transformation.

@DNPrime 17 Well, Mastermind Creations has you covered. They're repainting their Stray (or maybe Ater Beta; I don't remember) into Shattered Glass Drift. It's got the Deadlock head in Deadpool colors, and even a Drift head that is straight-up Deadpool. I haven't found preorders for it yet, but if you look around, I'm sure you'll find something.

Drift (movie) is a master of samurai who , i think, when he came to earth, he landed on japan and learned samurai art from there.
So, my point is that both bludgeon and drift are master of sword fighting, so it will be a great fight

As cool as Drift's Decepticon to Autobot story is, I would love to see an Autobot who turns to the Decepticon side (Mudflap from Cybertron doesn't count, he switched because Starscream pretty much asked if he had anything better to do).
That is something that I would also like to see more of. These are a few characters that come to mind.

Blackarachnia TF Animated
Everyone else that I can think of either had there programming changed, Beast Wars characters like Inferno into Predacons. Or worked with Decepticons, but never joined, like Flame and Pharma.
Surprisingly, more Autobots have become Heralds of Unicron, they are tortured and brainwashed but it is still interesting, an example is the Four Horseman from Armada.
As Sam Richards here already said, we've got examples in the form of Armada Wheeljack, who betrayed the Autobots because he believed Hot Shot abandoned him after an accident led the latter to believe Wheeljack was dead, and Animated Elita One, who was _also_ abandoned after an accident led to Optimus and Sentinel believing she was dead, though she has the distinction of also being subsequently mutated into a Techno-Organic, whereupon she reinvented herself as Blackarachnia.
There's also the case of Energon Inferno, though he falls under the "tortured and reprogrammed" category.
I don’t know if it counts, but the protoforms that became the Combaticons in RID 2001 were Autobots.
WFC Starscream used to be an Autobot scientist before he sold out to Megatron. They swapped his backstory with Jetfire's (who's WFC counterpart is an Autobot all along) and it worked pretty well imo.
Plus mudflap from cybertron rejoined the autobots later.
Once again, I love the IDW version best. Plenty of chuckles were had because of Drift being a space hippie.
Original IDW Drift was SUCH an awesome character. I've always wanted more of Wing. Maybe even a figure. The Circle of Light characters would be an awesome sub-line as well.

I'd totally forgotten that Drift/Ratchet became Canon and just about had a heart attack when you brought it up. I'm still not used to IDW allowing romance subplots to happen at all lol.

Drift quickly became a favorite character of mine when I began reading the IDW comics and his Generations figure was a must have for my collection. He's still a favorite and I display him fighting side-by-side alongside Ratchet.
I really love Drift, both designwise but also his IDW backstory. He is one of my favorite characters, def. Top 3.
I am still reading through Lost Light, so I didn't know he and Ratchet were really gonna end up together, but this is one of the rare instances where I didn't mind it one bit to know what I can expect for him. I really loved their dynamic so far. (I'm still upset, that I now know Ratchet is going to die, tho! >:-C)
The Transformers Generations Drift was the first and only figure I ever had shipped (from Australia to Germany) and it was damn worth it! His car and alt mode are awesome and the swords are so damn cool!
First of all, his fellow aroace person!!! Second of all, I just LOVE the relationship between Drift and Ratchet. Kinda would have loved to see them reunite in the live action films so we could see their adorable side or something.

I started reading IDW's transformers a few months back, and finished it recently. Man it was great. Such s beautiful series.
Drift has always been my favorite Transformer. His story in the IDW series is amazing and I’m glad he got favorable recognition in MTMTE.

I find the Robots in Disguise take on Drift quite interesting: A stern but caring master to his students Slipstream and Jetstorm who is himself also still dealing with his own dark past. Shame Slipstream and Jetstorms names weren't the best choices.
We've seen starscream and skywarp on the basics but we haven't seen thundercracker can you make a basics on thundercracker
I'm still waiting on The Constructicons, the Stunticons, Hot Rod(aka: Rodimus Prime), and Sideways. He said they should be out before the End of this year, but I'm starting to have my doubts.

I was also unsure of drifts silly japanese samurai-esque look and characterization, wondering if it was a bit tacky in this day and age... but upon looking around the Japanese fanbase of the IDW comics, they absolutely LOVE him over there and enjoy drawing him practicing in/in context of their culture. It's fun to see!
I'm one of the few who liked Drift from day one, but that's because I'm a sucker for samurai stuff.
Thanks for this one, Colby Parker! I, despite knowing he's a complete nonsense weeb concept, actually really like Drift once he goes new age-y, and his relationship with Ratchet from "barely able to tolerate each other" to "married ever after" is fun and one of the few times I've ever enjoyed a romance that started with bickering.
I’ll be honest, the Ratchet relationship threw me for a loop.
I think they were going for a Spock/McCoy vibe. It didn't work for me, but I can see it working for others.

I was rooting for Ratchet and Drift to get together from the moment I heard about their past back before the war. And when Ratchet decides to go after Drift because he knew drift needed him more then the lost light did. They were adorable. I was sooooo happy when they became cannon. ❤️❤️❤️

Sadly, Cyberverse Drift never truly abandoned his Decepticon legion. I was very disappointed when I found that out.

I'd love to see them adopt drift's idw story into an animated series, something similar to the samurai episode of star wars visions. His story is too cool to not expose to a greater audience!

Regardless of my initial feelings about Drift's personality, his toy is beautiful. The unique transformation and awesome color scheme made me by him despite his DeviantArt OC behavior. I'm glad to see more recent takes on him have been better written.

They are a race of alien shapeshifting robots. The only gender that exists within their race are Fem-Bots. Roberts didn't get how to effectively parse the 'alien' bit, so humanised and sexualised the characters to such a ridiculous degree they were barely Transformers at all.
@@pious83 If your problem is that their relationships aren't alien enough, I don't know how that could bother you now when romantic relationships between cybertronian have long existed (aka Optimus and Elita), among other things that are very "human like" in their society and culture.

Fun fact: People liked Drift’s toy. However, since it was released at the time where he was a “Base-Breaking Character,” the toy was later rereleased as a new figure for Blurr. As in, they recolored the toy, replaced the swords with guns, and remolded the head into that of Blurr’s. According to the wikis, this was done so that people could own the toy, while not feeling guilty for buying Drift merchandise.

Drift is a playable character in Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, in which his Decepticon past and code of honor are hinted constantly in his dialogue.

The Autobot samurai is actually not the first character named Drift. That belongs to a Mini-Con character, a member of the Burning Rubber team from the Transformers Armada toyline, who transforms into a blue racecar and combines with his teammates Spin and Indy to form the Cosmotector Shield.

I really love the Drift/Ratchet relationship. IDW has consistently done well with developing the less popular or less often seen Transformers, and MTMTE/Lost Light to this day are my favourite Transformers comics.

I just want to thank you for doing all this videos. I love the franchise, but is really hard to get your hands on most of the content nowadays if you are short on money. I really want to watch all the old cartoons and read the IDW comics, because I love the lore and the characters and if it wasn't for your videos I would be completely lost! Drift is the Japanese name for dirt boss and also in Japan a minicon repaint of dirt boss was named drift

Cyberverse Drift: They left a bunch of really obvious clues that he was going to turn out to be evil. So obvious that you think it has to be a red herring. And then, in a shocking twist, he... was evil.

I find the takara TAV vs version an iconic take on the white Drift merged with the RID Drift, and quite uplifting.
