    What amazed me about this figure is not just how much he looks like a gundam but how much he engineered like a gundam model but to the 9s. I was totally blown away with it.

    Was anyone else expecting a second skit where Skullface was gushin over the figure an was trying to ask the wife for one as well an gets shot down with sad music playin in the background? I dunno why, but I was "REALLY" expecting that to happen, lol.

    I've been buying transformers for decades (and I know it does not transform), but man, this is a piece of art. I'm in for everything flame toys makes from now on - even the modal kits. If you have the money - you will not stop looking at it, its that good.

    • @MythsAndHeroes

      I can't stop looking at it and putting it into different poses. Fantastic stuff. I cant wait for the Optimus Prime...my dreams coming true. I wasn't sold on non-transforming transformers, but concentrating on detail and the action features is the way to go for these high end transformers.

    I think my only shtick with this is the price. He has all the articulation of the mid to high end gundam kits which have some insane engineering. I think all the money for this guy goes into assembly and paint here (which arguably is part of what draws people to gundam kits). Being familiar with this level of articulation and detail and air-brushing my own gundam kits the value just isn't personally in it for this figure for me. However, for someone who wants an incredible action figure to have all those qualities and doesn't have the desire or ability to assemble and paint a figure over the course of a handful of hours this is a ball park knock out and I am very impressed.

    Gr8 review Bubbeh! This is cool and all and I'm not trying to beat a dead horse and I understand this doesn't Transform but at the $300 price point, couldn't they at least have added a separate vehicle mode? Anyways I heard in Japan you can buy USED Panties and i think that is what Robert was trying pull with you lol.

    • @marvinonstage
      @marvinonstage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you have to look depending on your mindset. The problem comes in the word "Perfect" Perfect by defination mean without flaws. Skullface found one flaw (Dead Eyes) I would argue 2, it doesn't transform. I don't mind it not transforming as a good action figure like Revolvtech or Mass OP. And I do think there is a market for a line like this like a hot toys version. The Hot Toys OP was ass though. Because they went away from their market of making figures look photo realistic and made OP too stylized. The other thing is $300.00...damn. they need to hire Weijang to make this and bring the cost down.

    I have zero connection to this character. So I'm not gonna lie, I ignored this video until I just watched your SkullFest Should a TF Transform video. So I came here to check it out. I'm on the side of; if a figure is going to be this good, I absolutely wouldn't care if it didn't transform. The giant 18' MAS Optimus Prime and soon Megatron figures don't transform and those are licensed as well. It's all about the brand and the characters we love. I would much rather have great shelf presence than something that looked just ok in both modes. Now, that being said. I cannot start replacing my MP collection with each figure with a price tag like this. $300 is a tough pill to swallow, especially if you times that by what, at least the first 26 characters from G1 Season 1. If this caliber of toy came down to $100/each, I would be all in on a whole G1 character line. Or if maybe they did the super important key characters this way. Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, maybe Ironhide, or Bumblebee. I like what they did here. Just maybe get that price down and do some G1 characters and I'm in.

  • @Neo_Sauron
    @Neo_Sauron 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This thing is indeed amazing. A masterpiece amongst masterpieces (Takara or otherwise). $400 is a lot though. I'm gonna have to reeeaaallyy think about it. If it was $300, I'd be all over it like cosmic rust on Unicron. But in spite of how awesome it is, $400 still seems like a *little* bit too much. Maybe just a little bit though. I'm gonna have to strongly consider it either way. By the way Mr. Skullface, I don't see how you could pass on this and get their Tarn. This is easily the more impressive looking figure (well at least in my opinion). Anyway, thanks for the awesome review.

    "ok, so what happened was....." i was almost buying neoarts liokaiser. But then i thought," o wait, perfect effect would be the one to get". Then i almost saw myself spending 160 euro on a figure i don t know the cartoons from, and an altmode i don t care about just to get a super poseable figure with japanese proportions. So then came " why not drift!?" 😂 and it s great! Even after all reviews i m amazed by the detail and articulation. Only problem i have is that it can t look downward-sideways, cos of the sculpt

    Got a baby on the way and just brought the parent friendly vehicle to go with the little life alteration. Packed up the Formers collection to the loft making way for nappies and nursing pillows. • @ahro
    @ahro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was really looking forward to see your thoughts on this, because honestly, it kind of feels like this was made for you considering your interests (ie. IDW design, articulation, hardware, features, and of course -- paint). In regards to the cost, I think of your comment about MT Utopia back in the day -- the people who buy or ever get to handle this thing in person will know where the money went... for everyone else, it's just a cool looking $300 action figure that doesn't transform. I won't deny that the figure comes with a hefty premium, but when you get it in hand, you definitely see where the money went. That being said, this figure definitely isn't for everyone.
    As incredible as this is, while I have no doubts that they're gonna knock it out of the park, I'm really not feeling the Tarn. The only real decent transforming alternative to Drift is the MMC version and quite frankly, that doesn't even come close to this thing. Tarn on the other hand is a little trickier.... I really like the streamlined look of the Kultur, and at under 1/3 the cost, it transforms to boot. I suppose part of that has to do with the fact that I don't have a huge personal connection with the character but it really makes it hard to cough up the $370-400 for the Flame Toys version. All that being said, I'm probably more like Robert D than I care to admit in regards to my sense vs money lol :/
    Their Star Saber on the other hand -- O. M. F. G. That scratches the Transformers/Gundam hybrid itch I never knew I had... in like a sexy way too ;). I just hope it doesn't cost like $500 considering the trend Flame Toys seems to be moving towards in terms of price.
    If you ever get a chance, see if you can get your hands on other Sentinel products designed by Chemical Attack. I just picked up the Shape Changing Iron Man armor designed by him. At first I was a little underwhelmed because even though he's quite a bit bigger than a Figuarts or Legends, he was VERY light considering the price tag to get into that game ($200-250). Then I started playing a little more with the figure with different poses and I was really blown away. I still think for the money, you have to be a HUGE diehard fan of Iron Man and really high end collectibles, but I think those are more pieces you're going to absolutely love.
    Thanks again for the review -- looking forward to your next videos :D

    He's a transformer that doesn't transform, strike 1. Doesn't fit into any scale or collection, Strike 2. Price is ridiculous for an 8" figure, strike 3. However, he does look amazing. It's gorgeous, but at 300 bones I need a bigger figure. S'why I can't get into that statue game. "Look at this gorgeous piece of art! 6 inches of perfection (Oh My)! LE200 Price $400!" .....sigh. I had to wear down the missus about P/O ing HT Wonder Woman, and each time she was "But it doesn't do anything, you can't transform it." No way she'd sign off on this.

    To be fair - MP Optimus Primal was the first to really have that painted/lighted eye gimmick and pull it off well. But damn......this makes their Optimus model kit tempting.

    Sometimes I wish transformers just canonically never could transform, like they were just giant robots like a gundam. Then I wouldn't feel like I'm missing out on anything with toys like these
    PS: you could display him with galaxy meteor without too much over shadowing

    I don't know where to begin, so here comes a random stream of thoughts. I would restart my entire G1 Masterpiece collection tomorrow if Flame Toys guaranteed me that they were going to start pumping out G1-inspired figures of this quality. If they transformed...I'd pay double. No exaggeration. That's how bad I want something like this in my life. But that's not going to happen, so let's go with a more likely scenario. I would put in a pre-order for Tarn tomorrow if Flame Toys told me they were going to release the entire DJD at this level of quality. Done. Tomorrow. God I need this level of quality in my collection. I need it. Please Sweet Baby Jesus will you give it to me?

  • @Mandalore2280
    @Mandalore2280 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If Flame Toys ever did G1 style characters like this my wallet would officially explode. I'm more than willing to give up the transformation aspect (and an alt mode I almost never display my figures in anyways) for an amazing representation of the character. Give me G1 Prime, Starscream, Megatron etc and you can have my wallet, transformation be damned.

    The engineering is incredible indeed. It's a shame I don't feel attached to that character. And I don't think I would trade the super high articulation with the ability to transform. Or maybe I think that because of my previous thought, that I'm not a big fan of Drift. Good thing that manufacturers are rising the bar and making the figures of a year or two years old to look like an 80's vintage figure. I'm really exited on what they are going to do next, maybe a real life transforming car it's on the way! :D Oh, and I agree with some guys below, you should take a look at gundam models. Seems that you would like some fun reviewing them as they have some of this kind of articulation.
    Thanks for the review!

  • @professord8888
    @professord8888 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bobby, as I suppose others have already commented (I haven't looked at them yet) I think that the comparison to transforming figures is a little bit unfair when you're talking about the engineering etc etc because since the figure does not transform there is a lot of extra room to do all that joints hiding and engineering that you raved about here. I've got no idea what part of Transformers fiction this character comes from, I only know G1 myself, but the thing that was most disappointing to me is that I didn't realize until about halfway or three-quarters of the way through this review that it wasn't actually going to transform. And what sucks about that especially is that it really does look like it would transform with those shoulders of those thighs it looks like it would fold into something, and that those wings were have some kind of vehicle purpose. I agree it looks amazing, and if it was any kind of figure from the Transformers that I knew, I would be in. Shit, I wish for instance, this was Alpha Trion, that's what I would really love. Imagine an Alpha Trion with this level of quality to go in an MP collection. That would be dope.

    I am sure it has been said, but I have to say it anyway. The major problem (besides the price which I could get past) is, it doesn’t transform. I just can get past that one issue.
    Maybe you’ll get lucky and find one on sale later. By the way, there is a bit of drool on the table.
