Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. The song, In Too Deep, is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Collins wrote “Sussudio” the way he wrote a lot of his songs by playing around with a drum machine, coming up with an idea, and then writing to that idea. In this case, Collins was improvising, coming up with melodic ideas by singing nonsense words over his own beat. This is also how a lot of rappers write these days. Collins came up with the “Sussudio” hook, thinking he’d later go back and replace that non-word with something that meant something. But he couldn’t think of anything else that fit the track as well, so he kept the gibberish, and he worked around it.
No, he mostly came up with it by listening (and slightly copying) the song "1999" by Prince. He admitted to listening to the song a lot in the studio while he was writing "Sussudio" th-cam.com/video/rblt2EtFfC4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Prince
No he wrote this song after he heard Princes 1999. Its the exact same tempo and a sure fire rip off, so stop acting like Collins was so original and some precussor to rap or r n b

THIS is so refreshing! It's from a time where musicians were musicians! They wrote and played their own music and they were performers. Yes, Phil Collins has won multiple awards, but he's still so very underrated as a musician BECAUSE of his multiple talents and abilities. He has an amazing voice, plays multiple instruments AND is a brilliant song writer.
most of the people that sang even in 90s and not to mention in 80s and before , were actual good at it ... compared to today.... is there anyone even good ? probably , but hard to tell who.... and worst part is , most popular ones and richest in music industry are crap lol
Excellent jam from Mr. Phil Collins. Old school music is the best. Original artist. The 80s is the best decade in music 🎶. I'm glad I lived this great music as a kid. Another time another era. Old school rules.
The No Jackets Required is such an absolute masterpiece. It was my first album (cassette) that I own when I was 12 (of course I had to get my mom to purchase it for me). Played Sussudio over and over again on our cassette player. Such memories.
Leland Sklar didn't play on the studio version as it's 2 programmed synth basslines. He did play one of the basslines with a bit of playback to make sound more close to the original.
Ive been needing to check out more Phil Collins, and THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED AND I KNEW I WOULD FIND!!! Any hardcore fans, please point me to more songs like this with that heavy synth bass, i love it and I can't get enough. I could listen to thick heavy 80s bass synth songs till the end of time!
When Phil Collins comes in at 01:04, the day always gets better. This song brings back so many great memories about the 80s. The Vibe, Miami Vice, all of it.
Released in 1985, “Sussudio” is one of Phil❤Collins’ most recognizable solo hits, featured on his album *No Jacket Required*. The song’s upbeat, funky rhythm, infectious horn section, and catchy chorus made it an instant dance-floor favorite. Collins’ playful lyrics and energetic performance capture the excitement of infatuation, with the nonsensical title adding to the track’s whimsical charm. “Sussudio” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became a staple of 80s pop music. The song’s vibrant production and memorable hooks exemplify Collins’ ability to craft pop songs with broad appeal. Despite its lighthearted nature, “Sussudio” showcases Collins’ talent for blending pop, funk, and rock elements into a cohesive and irresistible sound. The track's enduring popularity attests to its timeless appeal and Collins' knack for creating feel-good music.❤

..haha its funny but on macedonian language Sudio means Judge....what a hit it was when we were kids,
No, he mostly came up with it by listening (and slightly copying) the song "1999" by Prince. He admitted to listening to the song a lot in the studio while he was writing "Sussudio"
th-cam.com/video/rblt2EtFfC4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Prince
No he wrote this song after he heard Princes 1999. Its the exact same tempo and a sure fire rip off, so stop acting like Collins was so original and some precussor to rap or r n b
@@massagemodality366 🤣
@@massagemodality366 You're right im surprised Prince didn't sue. That same year i think Ray Parker sued Huey Lewis sayin they stole the exact tempo for Ghostbusters on their song I Got a New Drug

THIS is so refreshing! It's from a time where musicians were musicians! They wrote and played their own music and they were performers. Yes, Phil Collins has won multiple awards, but he's still so very underrated as a musician BECAUSE of his multiple talents and abilities. He has an amazing voice, plays multiple instruments AND is a brilliant song writer.
he is a musical god!
most of the people that sang even in 90s and not to mention in 80s and before , were actual good at it ... compared to today.... is there anyone even good ? probably , but hard to tell who.... and worst part is , most popular ones and richest in music industry are crap lol
Just as repetitive as nowadays.
Underrated ? I don't think so. He sold millions of records and had so many hits.
hes not really that good- i came here by accident
This era was Real Music! Love the 80's. I'm blessed to have lived it!
It's impossible not to move hearing this incredible sound !!!!
Excellent jam from Mr. Phil Collins. Old school music is the best. Original artist. The 80s is the best decade in music 🎶. I'm glad I lived this great music as a kid. Another time another era. Old school rules.
Phil is definitely a living legend , both as singer or drummer , as solo artist or Genesis his music is best.
The No Jackets Required is such an absolute masterpiece. It was my first album (cassette) that I own when I was 12 (of course I had to get my mom to purchase it for me). Played Sussudio over and over again on our cassette player. Such memories.
Sounds like a personal favourite.
Fell asleep to that casette every night as an 8 year old.
Great album 👍
Keep it. Treasure
Sussudio is a great song by Phil Collins. Having Earth Wind and Fire’s Horn Section isn’t a bad idea either.
I didn't know that they came from earth wind and fire God bless
totes good idea. Well mentioned Ken. Love the stonefaced understatement.
A great great song, in fact, a personal favourite of mine.
🔥🔥🔥
"Wind section"?
"This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite!"

Phil Collins is an enormous artist! You are a legend!
Killer brass on this tune. Love it.
Thats the horn section from Earth Wind & Fire
39 years later I am still hearing and dancing to this cool and powerful song!
One of the bounciest basslines EVER!! I LOVE Phil Collins AND Genesis!!
Leland Sklar th-cam.com/video/87IR9x8QApM/w-d-xo.html
@@dsvet thank you
This record was inspired by Prince's 1999
Leland Sklar didn't play on the studio version as it's 2 programmed synth basslines. He did play one of the basslines with a bit of playback to make sound more close to the original.
do you like phil collins? sussudio is a great , great song. personal favorite
Now that I know what it is..
Yeah,!
Phil Collins is one the greatest singers, pianists, and drum players. He is a gifted musician, and I love his music.👏👏🤗🤗❤️
Awesome backing by earth , wind and fire
I DIDNT EVEN REALISE IT WAS THEM
3 of their members yes. They had their own band called Earth Wind & Fire Horns, then later 'The Phoenix Horns'
They were the Phoenix Horns not Ewf
Yes, the horn section from Earth, Wind & Fire is used throughout Phil Collins's song "Sussudio"
I thought those were synth generated horns
love phil Collins a true legend all in his own class
I was a very young child when I listened to this tune for the first time. I still love it. Phil Collins is unique.
Earth Wind and Fire’s Horns!!! Phil Collins knows about quality!!
Always loved Phil. A true musician and performer
When Phil Collins comes in at 01:04, the day always gets better. This song brings back so many great memories about the 80s. The Vibe, Miami Vice, all of it.
Me too.
AI-written rubbish.
The good old days of good, soul-touching, and comforting music! I love Phil Collins!
This song will "SLAP" forever 🔥🔥

Love Phil Collins music. This song makes me dance!😎💯
Listen to the brilliant ensemble of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. It hits a new peak of professionalism.
Picture stepping into a cozy dive bar where this band is on stage, and in that moment, you stumble upon the incredible musical world of Phil Collins for the very first time.
This is the reason I love 80s music so much!
The 1980s is gonna be the first decade to be brought back in the Retro Decade Revival Project. Our goal is to bring real entertainment, true talent, pure originality and diversity, old school and more back into the public mainstream, starting with the 1980s. That means real music will make a permanent comeback into the mainstream.
True that
@@reneastle8447 They did a study back in 2015. They found that 80's music was the most upbeat and happy
The least happy .. 2010 to 2015. they found it to be 20% less upbeat than 30 years ago
@@WolfsH0ok Impressive, quite impressive. Good thing 80s music will make a permanent comeback into the mainstream. You're very clever indeed, pal.

I wore out a cassette of "No Jacket Required" in '85 when it was released. One of Phil's best solo albums.
3:33 incredible hand movements by Phil!
With all those 3's I was expecting some masonic hand symbols or something. I was pleasantly surprised
