      Question, does your wave arms base wiggle a lot? Like the part you would secure with the allen key. If i push mine back it just tilts and it feels like nothing is holding onto it. I might return it if this just happens to me :/

    I had the Mic Arm LP. It was fantastic but a change in my setup and the way my desk was organized called for a proper scissor-style boom arm. The included riser makes this probably the best option for its price range.

  • @Skwidd_Man
    @Skwidd_Man 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    IMPORTANT: Video reference: 4:00, If your mic arm shaft isn't sliding into your riser fully, you will need to use the included allen/hex wrench (it's very small) to loosen the screw that holds the inner plastic pieces in place. Once your mic arm shaft is fully inserted, tighten the screw just until you meet resistance.

  • @Alexandra-Rex
    @Alexandra-Rex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    The Blue Compass as described here with no springs and in need of tightening to lock it, is wrong. It does have an adjustable internal spring. I have mine with the two screw locks that control the arm itself completely unlocked, and it stays put. There is a third locking screw, the one that you use for angling the microphone at the end of the arm, and this needs tightening to lock it as it's not connected to springs. The Compass is incredibly nice in use if adjusted correctly, and you can freely adjust height and distance freely without having to unlock and lock the joints. (I weighed the microphone I have on it now, 542 grams with shock mount, and it works as intended)

    • @STOGG
      @STOGG 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the Blue Compass as well paired with the Wave 3 Mic and trust me its tough to use. And that's due to the Wave 3 mic being so light. Also you can't angle the Mic as you want. I do love the Blue Compass but it's not the best with the Wave 3 Mic.

    • @Alexandra-Rex
      @Alexandra-Rex 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@STOGG I'm sure it's not the best arm for all microphones, but I was happy to see that my current wasn't too light for it, so I was prepared to buy a set of ankle weights to put around the end of it to make things heavy enough :P But I just wanted to mention that when you do have a microphone within the weight range it supports, you don't need to tighten the joints (except the last one) to keep it in place.

    Having trouble finding a low-profile mic boom that can accommodate my 5/8" thick, extra shielded XLR cables. Surely there are products that can meet this rather elementary requirement! Most low-profile boom with "cable management" seem to only work for regular XLR (or other) cables that are NOT as thick as the ones I use. Life is too short to waste on issues that could be avoided.

      I’m tried something similar with mixed results, I attempted to clamp a solid arm followed by three sections of L and S flex arms with an Elgato Wave 1 on the pole of a Keylight Air to the original base. The keylight air base is barely 2 lbs on its own and I also have a Asus rog strix gaming laptop helping weigh down the lamp base as well. I believe Elgato’s two new boom arms will be too heavy for the 10 lb base, it’s best to clamp it to the desk itself, in my case, I removed the drawers on mine.
