It looks like Elgato has made a few changes to this arm, including using much stronger magnets for the cable covers! I have a video that shows all the updates here: th-cam.com/video/1OEmhGEuEBA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qVeJ64Bc6KlLGRNt
Awesome product! Just fix the magnetic cable covers in next versions i.e. using the more sturdy rubber ones (like the normal wave arm) and include some bands so we don't have to use ugly zip ties. =) Pity as I can see this will loose some serious buyers who plan to use XLR mics.
Just got this mic arm a couple weeks ago. Absolutely love it. Works well in a small space where I've had trouble with the more traditional "scissor" style arms in the past. Had no idea this arm existed before watching this video, actually, and glad I do now.
For the cables and magnetic covers, use some thin velcro tape, it's gonna hold everything in place. 2 for each plate and one that maintain the cable on the middle joint.
Another method, even more discreet and effective in my opinion, is to insert two small rectangular pieces of foam (the one found in some hardware box as protective material, for example) directly inside the two spaces dedicated to the cable passage inside the arm itselft, once the cables are in place, just on top of your XLR/ USB or whatever cables you want. This has two effects: holding the cables in place and preventing it from moving and lifting the metal cover plates, and, more importantly in my opinion, greatly reducing the arm's metal reasoning noises, by absorbing a good part of the arm's internal vibrations. Cutting two rectangles about 6x15 cm (depending on the density of the foam you will use) and inserting them into the arm's two cable passages makes a major difference in my opinion. Simple, invisible and super effective :)
Hi, is the wave LP compatible with the RODE Podcaster End-address broadcaster dynamic USB mic? If not, can you recommend a good adapter? Also, would the arm+mic+adapter work as intended, or should I just look for another arm?
Your reviews are so awesome, you leave no stone unturned and it's those little nuances that you point out that are the make/break difference between various arms. I tried the Blue arm despite your warnings and MAN was it annoying that I couldn't just place the mic where I wanted (no matter how I adjusted it). Returned it immediately. Will always heed your advice from now on! :)
Hey Tom I've used a PSA1 for a couple years and I thought I'd just point out that I was also frustrated with not being able to turn the "mounting pin" all the way vertical. What I discovered you can do is remove the mic, unscrew the oval tabs completely and then you can slide the mounting pin out and put it in the opposite way. Did this pretty much as soon as I got it and it's been pretty much a perfect arm for me with this little hack.
Bought the Elgato based on your video and ordered through your link. I got it today, and I LOVE IT. The magnetic panel lids are great. I even stored the extra pieces inside. So far, the cables are staying put. I'm constantly changing mic positions during interviews, and this is so smooth I don't have to mute the mic. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen; I am instantly a subscriber. One thing I think I know about you is that you are a perfectionist, but…. I think you’ve been tweaking your process for a such a long time that you now have a systemized workflow to crank out amazing content. This video is not only full of fantastic product specifics and high quality audio, but also some great video production visual gems as well. I’m beyond impressed.
Thanks Tom! I have planed to buy an Audio Setup with the Mv7 and the Blue Boomarm. After this Video did i change my mind. Your Videos are my first port of call when it comes to Audio equipment. Love it
Great review Tom. I ordered mine about 6 weeks ago but they’re not in stock in Australia until October. BTW, the ‘weird’ flange-type fitting on the end, that the ball head attaches to, is designed to take the Elgato Flex Arm attachments that work with the Elgato Multi Mount, Endless possibilities for mic and camera mounting and extending the length/angles of the LP arm. .
That makes a lot of sense, since they have a whole ecosystem of products. Luckily elgato stuff has always been reliable for me, but I'd still prefer if it were a more universal mount.
Thank you so much, Tom! Once again, you create a FANTASTIC comparison and give great use cases to each. Thanks for taking the time to share great information with us! 🤪
I just got the Elgato Low Profile Arm yesterday and already had the magnets pop off a few times haha!!! Great review, I might pick up one of those extension pieces you mentioned to give me a little more room with my XLR cable. Thanks for another solid review!
I’m so glad I saw this video! I was looking at the elgato lp specifically as an arm to use the shure 55 vertically so I was pleasantly surprised to see you do just that!
I just got my mic arm and noticed there may have been a slight design change. The model I received has thumb screw can be tightened by hand instead of a socket head cap screw (adjustable with allen key). I have to really tighten the screw to the point where it's very hard to unscrew it for the top arm to stay up. I have a rode pod mic attached to it and any adjustments to the top arm will make the mic fall and I have to retighten the thumb screw.
I saw that the newer models have this update. It seems like a nice idea, but not if it makes it tougher to adjust the arm. The Allen key method is inconvenient, but SUPER sturdy.
Fantastic stuff, great to show the versatility of each mic arm and the various benefits and drawbacks of each. PS those dad jokes are awesome, don't stop.
Setting this up was super quick and simple. Probably asking a lot, just wish the knobs weren't plastic and that the cables had a way to hide better, but the magnetic plates are pretty cool. I had considered that $400 boom arm you mentioned but the size of the base mounting plate thing seems a lot more aggressive in terms of desk real estate, so I opted for the elgato.
This was super helpful! Thanks, Tom! I am on Zoom calls a good portion of the day, both presenting and attending. I came from a Rode PSA1 mounted at the edge of my desk that is away from me, to the left of my display. This worked well. I am now using the Elgato low profile mounted at the edge of my desk that is to my right. I like how the arm can be stored out of the way to my right when not in use. I can also easily move it in place when I need it. As you mentioned, the Elgato is more flexible in how it lets you position your mic. I have a Shure Beta 87 on it at the moment. I can position the arm up when I also need use of my keyboard. But I’ll use an Audio Technica BPHS1 headset mic if I need use of my keyboard or if I’m drawing on my iPad.
My order for a second Elgato Wave mic arm LP is on its way. This thing can hold up to 2KG (4.4 lbs) that I use to hold up my DLSR camera on a small teleprompter and a panning and tilting remote motor. I even got the boom arm version for my secondary camera for overhead shots. The second LP arm for my Wave 3 mic. The space under LP arm is not a problem - 2.75 inches on the first horizontal part which is just enough for operating your mouse, and the second joint angles almost 90 degrees up to match your eye level. The LP arm is designed to be out of the way in your footage. You can really position this even on the opposite edge of the table, I don’t see any problems of clearances being an issue - this was why I bought this first than the boom arm. The boom arm version only can hold up to 1KG (2.2 lbs), and with the 6” (15cm) vertical extension, can reach up to 75 cm (29”).
Hello Tom, Those 1/4 x20 mounts are not microphone but rather camera oriented. Since that is the smallest mounting screw using the enlarging adaptations make these arms universally adaptable. From cameras to studio microphone mounting these are able to fit all. Mounting a camera on one of these booms can be very useful for desk top closeup and assembly demonstrations. Perhaps that is why the springs can be adjusted so strong to support an SLR.
Oh I’ve been waiting forever for mine to ship..! Your video pretty much confirmed everything I expected this arm to be…all the pros and the cons. I hope I don’t end up sending it back, especially after such a long wait for it. Anyway, thanks for the video! I was still laughing out loud when the video ended due to the “hot topic” comment hahaha
I doubt you'll want to send it back, it's super nice overall! I have another on the way after this one was commandeered by someone (I won't name names). 😉
Great comparison Tom. Speaking of that Ball Mount on the Elgato, it's the same as on their Flex Arm (4 components-arms), the Solid Arm as well as the Master Mount. In real use, we can prolong the Low Profile Arm with one of the modules from the Flex Arm if needed. I've got them all and they're as sturdy as they should be. But the Arm is out of stock here..
I've heard that it's compatible with other Elgato stuff, and that's awesome. I don't have any of their studio gear at this point, but I would like trying to mount a camera on the arm 😁
For those on the fence because of the magnet cover issues, I just got it this week, and the magnet is VERY STRONG. This has lead me to believe they may have done a second pass on this feedback and made the magnets so much stronger. I do not have the issue with the cable dislodging the magnetic covers. Also there are holes at the bottom at both ends of the boom arm cable routing sections, not just the top. One near the mic and one near the clamp.
Yeaaa my main complaint about the Elgato LP are the magnetic parts to hide the cable. I mostly just add some extra slack on the cable to hopefully prevent that. I mostly love how easy it is to move it out of the way so I’m ok dealing with that. Stellar review as always. Thanks Tom!
i use the shure mic and the quick release is so much easier to use with a boom arm and a xlr cable.. but low profile arm with the shure may be a great idea
The difference is the RODE style only bends one way at the elbow, where the elgato can bend up and down, but also left and right giving you more options for placement.
I absolutely love the Elgato Low Profile arm! Works great with the Rode PodMic! I find using the arm mounted on the back of the desk to have a bunch of space. Great review brother!
I can see how this would be super useful for someone where their desk is in a corner. Just moved mine and found that the Blue arm I was using no longer really works, where this one would work great and tuck away in the corner when I don't need my mic.
Took the chance on getting the Elgato Low Profile Mic Arm. A trip is to use gafa tape and tape the cable inside the arm before putting on the magnetic covers. Just make sure you leave room to move it a bit... Works like a charm ;)
Thanks for arming us with the info. Now we've got something to stand on. Signed, Mic PS the theme song for this topic is probably "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks
I raised my monitor and this sits very nicely underneath the monitor - swings completely out the way - way less obtrusive than the PSA which is now in my cellar.
BOOM! The whole army left completely dissarmed after I watched your (yet another) great review. Thank you Tom. Great presentation, enjoyable and informative.
You can pry my Elgato LP Boom Arm out of my cold dead hands. I have a rolling stand setup to which my LP is attached via a vice clamp and 6" extension arm. I can pivot the extension arm and angle the two arms of the boom so it minimally interferes with my input devices during streaming/meetings but it accommodates the different desk depths I switch between. SO. DOPE.
I looked at this....my only issue (mine, not Elgato) is my desk setup. I have a smaller desk with two monitors, speakers, etc....no room to use it effectively. I went with Gator desktop stand. Great video...if I ever rearrange my studio, I'm going to plan for this.
The Biggest down side of the Elgato is it does Not have a Through Desk mount. Only the clamp. Because of how my desk is made, I can't use a clamp mount to position the mic in the right location. I have to have a through desk mount, which is why I went with the Rode. But the tall arm is in my way... so still doesn't work right. Now I'm considering getting an Elgato and making a mount or something... 😐
Great video and review! Definitely helped me understand it more and confirm that it's the one I want. Also refreshing to see a colorful day-lit room. Kinda getting exhausted watching so many videos that have dark rooms with rgb leds.
To what do we owe this pleasure to of another video this week?! I understood everything you said in this video haha! When I do upgrade my mic in the future, I do want a low mic arm, I want just like you said, to be able to show the future money maker and not hide it behind the mic. I love that you showed about being able to hide the cables and demonstrated a heavier mic.
@@tombuck yes Tom. Actually I watched your PSA1 vs Blue Compass comparison. It was spot on with practical uses. Your reviews are awesome that way and I am a big fan all the way from Sri Lanka. Waiting for you to hit thar 100K mark. 😊
I have two of these with Shure SM7B's, and can confirm they do *not* handle the weight well. You've got to tighten the arm as tight as it can go if you move it up and down frequently, and eventually need to undo the crank and retighten the arm again to keep it from falling onto your keyboard (pc gaming). Both arms have the same issues. The only solution to this might be a hydraulic forearm instead of a manual knob like more-expensive alternatives, but I don't see that happening without production costs soaring, so .. it works but be warned if you have heavy mic's you plan on mounting.
I think they've updated the design since I made this review to have a knob instead of the Allen key adjustment. I don't think the knob is as strong. I haven' t had any issues with the SM7B on mine, which is tightened by allen key.
The Elgato arm looks great and... somehow I can see how well it could be used with the Encabulator, fully leveraging the hypersuno perspective for the lower radiant... no?
They're definitely in super high demand. I've found that stock changes day by day and it's worth checking regularly (not sure how that would be affected if they haven't "officially" released it in your country though).
I'm actually thinking about getting the Elgato mic arm because of my bad experiences with the Rode PSA1. I bought two PSA1s about half a year ago and both had problems the day i got them. One was really loose in the joints which allowed for a lot of sideways motion. The other one had a weird noise when extending it past a certain point but i endend up keeping that one because it had the least annoying problem. Now after half a year it's starting to squeek. Safe to say i'm really disappointed in the quality of this arm. Since the elgato one seems to have a way simpeler design without any springs and simple locking nuts, i might try this one out as an alternative.
That's a bummer to hear about the Rodes. The Legato has an entirely different build, so it might be worth a shot. You can put small amounts of lubricating grease where the squeaks are happening to help stop them (very very small amounts of lubricant).
Hey Tom, thanks for this.... I'm coming to it late, but still great info. I've had a Rode PSA1 which gets the job done, but never a low profile arm. Since my needs have changed low profile makes sense -- since it tucks away so easy. This is the case when you are only doing occasional voice sessions. I didn't know the Elgato existed and was facing going way more expensive....and dragging my feet. So thanks again.
This is also silly, because OC white bloom arms are unbelievably better, although they cost a couple hundred dollars new. They been making the same design since the 1920s because it still works perfectly. I’m a four-year radio professional and it’s the only thing series professionals really use, and I know of one in my hometown that has been working perfectly sit sitting in the same place for 60 years with no maintenance at all. They make no noise you put them where you want and they stay there it’s perfect I can’t understand why anybody would buy anything else
Now that just looks CLEAN, thats one of the big selling points for me. The traditional ones look kiiiinda messy.... Also i can tuck this in nicely if needed.
You sold me on it, just ordered one.✌️ I've got my work computer right next to my personal computer on a fairly long desk. Then I've got my mic and headphones hooked into an audio interface that's hooked up to a USB switch, so I can swap my entire setup between computers with the press of a button. This however forces me to have the PSA1 on the front side of the desk so I can swivel it left and right easily, otherwise it'd crash into my monitors. And I've wrapped my headphone cable around the arm too, so the it follows along neatly. It's functional and very handy, but it's a mess... Cons: It's big and in my face when on camera, it's got so many parts (cables, straps, plastic flaps, etc.), cables can get squished between the arm-rods, it's difficult to adjust the head (why are the FOUR knobs not counting the screw??), and it's hard to keep it from sagging (I don't have a particularly heavy mic, and I've tightened the screws so hard they've gotten slightly deformed). I'm so looking forward to what I'm hoping will be a clean solution. The arm can be behind the desk, cables can be hidden, sturdy enough to carry the mic, stays put, easy to adjust. It seems to tick all the boxes. Fingers crossed it delivers!
I actually picked up one of these not that long ago. At first I was worried that it would be more in the way with the one position lower arm. But i discovered that its low enough to move under my monitor so I was able to mount it from the back of my desk and was able to swing the other arm in front of in use or away and parallel with my computer case when I want it out of the way! So everything worked out. Also I found that if you do a lose extra coil of your cable on the mic end of the arm it will keep the plates from popping off when you move your mic.
I got the Elgato LP boom arm, but not entirely excited on it. Can’t handle my RE-20 with shock mount well. I have to adjust the tension so much that it really lacks some of the free movement. It goes to show what $100 gets you vs $300 in the LP boom arm category.
The best option for Elgato, and what sets it apart from the traditional one, is that it can be mounted on the back of the monitor and no arm view from your right or left is involved in the screen.
Fifine also has a low profile arm, much cheaper and a better cable management system than magnets that come off easily. It does have 1 less pound weight limit, but even a heavy mic like the SM7b wouldn’t be a problem on either arm
@@tombuck I hate it proprietary struff but I use several Elgato items (Key light airx2, the Multi Mount L arm for the key lights, stream deck and soon the LP arm (going to get one to solve issue I have with my current book arm (Same one you mention as your favorite) Issue is I have a 3 monitor setup and the arm is kind of in the way, the LP should allow me to put it under my monitors..should be much cleaner! we'll see!
Hey Tom you could mount a pair of binoculars on that! 😀😃😄 But what we use in radio is the Yellowtec Mika arms. Some versions have a tally light built-in. They have versions for monitors and TVs for the studios too! But have to say I really like that Elgato... Thanks for the great content 👍. Tim in Dublin, Ireland
Weakest point for me in the PS-1 is the joint between the table mount and the arm itself. It can’t be fixed in any way and mine is making some nasty noises when I rotate the upper part. Maybe I should try using WD-40 to see if that fixes the noises problem (but it might get even more lose)
You can use a very small amount of WD-40 lubricant (not the regular stuff but the one that specifically says “lubricant”) and it should take care of the sound. A little bit goes a very long way.
Dude your review is like having the gear in my hands. Thanks so much for epic attention to detail. I’m about to order that lewitt mic based on the epic sound quality. I’m new new to your videos would you describe your room as acoustically treated or not?
I really appreciate your kind words! I actively try and make reviews feel like you're with the gear as much as possible, so I'm happy that's what's coming through on your side. After the sound treatment video I did order a few panels from acoustimac.com and they've been working out really well.
Hi Tom. Would you trust the Elgato to hold a U87? My current Blue Compass blocks my view and the OC WHITE isn’t in my budget. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
It can definitely support a U87, but with a mic at that level, it might really be worth saving up for a beefier arm just to be safe. I'm not worried about it at all, but I would hate if anything happened to such a nice mic.
@@tombuck Yep I just hate having to pay more than double the price due to import even if you buy more than one at a time to the U.S but they are literally the only place I've seen on the internet that has them.
I got the Gator Framework (based on your other comparison vdo) and agree with you on the clamp. They missed the sweet spot by weighing it outside the desk area of the clamp position. I’ll have to mount it on the desk now with nails for better sturdiness.
I originally went with the low profile Elgato, but I'm changing my mind....and fast. The low profile gets in the way of running Streamdeck, keyboard, etc. I'm ordering the regular Elgato boom.
Just picked up a little-used Rode NT-USB microphone, & basically the problem is that it's not going to work on the cheap Neewer boom-arm I had in the cupboard for a number of reasons. Along with the NT-USB being too heavy, it also doesn't fit into the included Neewer shock-mount. Plus, the boom-arm comes with an XLR cable routed through the arm's tubing which is no good for connecting a USB-cable! After watching you review the Rode PSA1+ boom-arm then this review, I'd have to say this Elgato Wave boom-arm will be more suitable & better value for money (regardless of whether I'm using one of my XLR connected mics or the Rode NT-USB)!
It looks like Elgato has made a few changes to this arm, including using much stronger magnets for the cable covers! I have a video that shows all the updates here: th-cam.com/video/1OEmhGEuEBA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qVeJ64Bc6KlLGRNt
Thanks for the review! Great job on the video, and even better job on the dad jokes
Thank you for making awesome stuff 👍
That’s no joke.
@elgato, ever thought of making the magnets stronger? maybe they will hold better?
When will this be coming to Best Buy?
Any idea when these will be available again?

Perhaps that is why the springs can be adjusted so strong to support an SLR.
I, thinking it would be a very fun arm for a camera 👍
One near the mic and one near the clamp.
he's definitely a dad.
Yeaaa my main complaint about the Elgato LP are the magnetic parts to hide the cable. I mostly just add some extra slack on the cable to hopefully prevent that. I mostly love how easy it is to move it out of the way so I’m ok dealing with that. Stellar review as always. Thanks Tom!
It's a really great arm overall. I see lots of people in the Ecamm Fam with it! 😁
Looks like Tom has “armed” us with some great information! 🤣
i use the shure mic and the quick release is so much easier to use with a boom arm and a xlr cable.. but low profile arm with the shure may be a great idea
Quick releases seem like a super smart idea 👍
Great video and happy to see that you're using an LCT 240 PRO mic!
Love the Lewitt! Absolutely one of my favorites 🙌
@@tombuck Thanks for the amazing feedback! You made our day :)
The difference is the RODE style only bends one way at the elbow, where the elgato can bend up and down, but also left and right giving you more options for placement.
OMG, I saw this arm in a video and was wondering who made it. This is EXACTLY what I am looking for! Tom to the rescue again !
It’s pretty nifty!
it's LIKE... @Tom Buck READS our Minds! :)

LOL - "Kettle Bell Mic" . Tom and words... cracks me up every video!
I just got the Thronmax low profile arm and love it. The channels are on the underside and the covers slide to lock in place.
very impressive video and your editing and different camera angles blows me away --great job!
Hey thank you! I really appreciate that- sometimes it’s hard to tell if the extra effort is noticeable 😁
I have the OC White Co. LP arm and, while it’s great, the footprint of the Elgato one plus price difference makes it a game changer.
Nice to hear from someone who has both!
I absolutely love the Elgato Low Profile arm! Works great with the Rode PodMic! I find using the arm mounted on the back of the desk to have a bunch of space. Great review brother!
I'm all in favor of anything that clears up desk space!
I can see how this would be super useful for someone where their desk is in a corner. Just moved mine and found that the Blue arm I was using no longer really works, where this one would work great and tuck away in the corner when I don't need my mic.
That's definitely a smart setup. It's nice to be able to get the mic totally out of the way.
Took the chance on getting the Elgato Low Profile Mic Arm. A trip is to use gafa tape and tape the cable inside the arm before putting on the magnetic covers. Just make sure you leave room to move it a bit... Works like a charm ;)
Great idea!
Thanks for arming us with the info. Now we've got something to stand on.
Signed,
Mic
PS the theme song for this topic is probably
"Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks
I raised my monitor and this sits very nicely underneath the monitor - swings completely out the way - way less obtrusive than the PSA which is now in my cellar.
Sounds like a great setup!
Thank you. Great comparison. It looks like the LP can be attached to the side of desk and be a little more out of the way.
Yep and it works really well that way 👍
BOOM! The whole army left completely dissarmed after I watched your (yet another) great review. Thank you Tom. Great presentation, enjoyable and informative.
Haha, really glad to hear it! 💥💪
SO. DOPE.
Whoa Keely! That is AWESOME! Great move!
That is an AWESOME setup.
Pretty cool arm... But, PSA-1 is still gonna be my go-to! Thanks for the vid Tom.
PSA 1 is tried and true 💪
That’s clean! I may consider getting it. The PSA1 has been a workhouse though.
You really can't go wrong with the PSA 1, tried and true for many many years 👍
You are one of the best tech reviewers/teachers on YT... You deserve more subs!
Thank you! It means a lot to hear this 🙏
I looked at this....my only issue (mine, not Elgato) is my desk setup. I have a smaller desk with two monitors, speakers, etc....no room to use it effectively. I went with Gator desktop stand. Great video...if I ever rearrange my studio, I'm going to plan for this.
That’s the tough part. Sometimes a cool tool ends up not being the best choice if it requires a total tear down 😕
Subbed for the information and video quality, liked for the Aquabats poster
I love it 🙌
Noticed you were "arm wrestling" with the wires .. great review!
I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, still waiting for it to ship but I’m excited to use it!
Also, your windscreens on the mics look SOOOO good! Cheers!
The shipping times are definitely a bit frustrating, but I guess demand is super high!
Thanks! I'm glad the video was helpful and I'm happy to new the bright colors aren't off-putting (sometimes people really dislike it 😁).
It’s a really slick arm, I’m sure you’d like it for your setup 👍
Great video, Tom!
Thank you thank you!
Thanks. Elagato seems like the one I needed. Considered Blue Compass but heard setting it up and moving is very hard.
I would definitely not recommend the Compass, especially when there are awesome options like this out there!
@@tombuck yes Tom. Actually I watched your PSA1 vs Blue Compass comparison. It was spot on with practical uses. Your reviews are awesome that way and I am a big fan all the way from Sri Lanka. Waiting for you to hit thar 100K mark. 😊
I bought Elgato LP mic arm today. Thanks.
The Elgato arm looks great and... somehow I can see how well it could be used with the Encabulator, fully leveraging the hypersuno perspective for the lower radiant... no?
There's a really good opportunity for the two to converge at the point of quasipiestic stress reduction hydroxis.
@@tombuck 😂😂😂
If only Elgado would actually make this available to the public for sale, at least in Australia- where they keep delaying the release

It looks like a good arm to mount to the front of the desk without being too awkward.
It's definitely pretty easy to keep out of the way. 👍
Well, I guess this isn't for me, as I have a KettleBell™ Mic. Bummer. But, great review and really helpful comparison to PSA-1.
At least you can get buff while streaming 💪
This is a VERY clean design. Definitely a huge plus!
You sold me on it, just ordered one.✌️
I've got my work computer right next to my personal computer on a fairly long desk.
Sounds like this might just be the perfect fit! I hope you really like it 👍
@@tombuck Been using it for 10 days now. And yeah, this is waaay better!
Small black tie wraps will solve that popping off cover.
Yep, just not as slick as magnets 😁
Gotta hand it to you, this arm review is definitely a leg up, but you have to put your foot down and choose one!
I'm just happy to arm people with helpful info.
The moment you said "Then you can decide if you elgato get one" I subbed 🤘🤘😆😆
Everything is going according to plan 😬
literally subbed as soon as the rode mount fell lol
That cover popping off is silly! I can't believe they didn't think of that!
Definitely something that could've been taken care of with stronger magnets or a little latch or something 🤷🏻♂️
I currently have a Rhode PSA1, but I might switch to the Elgato low profile. Just wished they also offered a white version.
It would definitely be cool to see more color options for boom arms.
This video is just so helpful to get insight. The dad jokes are what made it seal the deal to sub tho
I'm super happy to hear it! I like to tell dad jokes. Sometimes he laughs.
I got mine about a month ago and I still love it!
Glad to hear it!
I got the Elgato LP boom arm, but not entirely excited on it. Can’t handle my RE-20 with shock mount well. I have to adjust the tension so much that it really lacks some of the free movement. It goes to show what $100 gets you vs $300 in the LP boom arm category.
I've never used one of the $300+ arms, but I'm sure they offer a lot of cool things.
For me it´s perfect. I´m glad I didn´t buy the blue arm now I can get this one for the same price and perfect for my setup. Thanks for the review.
I'm happy it was helpful!
I just got the Elgato Wave arm mic and I like it, I was thinking about getting the LP but my monitor are seating low
Stronger magnets are pretty easy to pick up and might help with that cover.
That’s a good idea and would really help.
That proprietary thing fits all the Elgato devices (like Key lights, mounts, etc)
That's handy to know!
@@tombuck I hate it proprietary struff but I use several Elgato items (Key light airx2, the Multi Mount L arm for the key lights, stream deck and soon the LP arm (going to get one to solve issue I have with my current book arm (Same one you mention as your favorite)
Issue is I have a 3 monitor setup and the arm is kind of in the way, the LP should allow me to put it under my monitors..should be much cleaner!
A built in tally light is absolutely brilliant! 🤯
I’m rocking the low profile one and I love it
Weakest point for me in the PS-1 is the joint between the table mount and the arm itself.
Found an earlier video that you made about fomo. Treatment question answered.
I really appreciate your kind words! I actively try and make reviews feel like you're with the gear as much as possible, so I'm happy that's what's coming through on your side.
After the sound treatment video I did order a few panels from acoustimac.com and they've been working out really well.
i got the elgato LP, you can pass the cable underneath so the cover don't pop up nearrby the mic
@Tom Buck Perhaps you may include in your next reviews the installation of a fethead, which makes it even more complicated ...
I’ve been running my long cable into a booster and then connecting the booster with a small patch cable, so it’s not on or near the mic stand.
I'm sure you're asked this a lot but I didn't see any info in the video description - Where did you snag the colored SM7B foam filters?
Reporterstore.com 👍
Mozos SB38 is kinda amazing. Especially considering price.
Hi Tom, could you tell me where to get the SM7B windscreens in different colors? Very cool touch. Thanks and great video.
reporterstore.com 👍
@@tombuck Yep I just hate having to pay more than double the price due to import even if you buy more than one at a time to the U.S but they are literally the only place I've seen on the internet that has them.
@@tombuck This is the question/answer I was looking for!
I got the Gator Framework (based on your other comparison vdo) and agree with you on the clamp. They missed the sweet spot by weighing it outside the desk area of the clamp position. I’ll have to mount it on the desk now with nails for better sturdiness.
You might be able to find a Rode PSA 1 clamp somewhere, it works perfectly with the Gator. 👍
@@tombuck Appreciate Tom, thank you 😊 have a great day!
I originally went with the low profile Elgato, but I'm changing my mind....and fast. The low profile gets in the way of running Streamdeck, keyboard, etc. I'm ordering the regular Elgato boom.
I’m similar- I love the low profile on its own, but in my standard setup/workflow I think a regular arm works a bit better.
So helpful -- thanks very much!
Glad it was helpful!
