    Ranunculus and anemones....2 of my favorite flowers! So fun to design with 🧡
    How exciting to have all your stakes and such organized. It always feels better when that task is done. I didn't know you could use potato sprouts like that. When you buy potato sets for planting, are they treated with a growing chemical somehow? Well, like you said...it's an experiment! Thanks for taking us along on your day!🧡

    • @dlsdyer9071
      @dlsdyer9071 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We had some potatoes during lock down last year that had started to sprout but used them in cooking after cutting the sprouts off. They sat on the counter waiting to compost.. they dried off and continued to grow. We ended up planting them on a lark. Got another three times the potatoes.

    • @nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden
      @nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can pre sprout your potato sets too before you plant, just leave them somewhere warm and light (not direct light) for a few weeks to get a head start on planting - I'm sprouting half of mine now to plant Mid March, just in my kitchen, the rest are stored in the cold so they wont sprout until i want a second planting in a few months . Potatoes just start growing when they think it's spring, the sets we buy are temperature controlled so they don't sprout until after we buy them, no chemicals involved.

    I put all my stakes in a large christmas tree bag. I then put the bag on the loft of my garage. I don’t have much space to store garden stuff since I use our garage for our two cars. Lesson learned. I once just propped them against the garage wall and they fell over and scratched my husband’s car.

    Another LOL with Aaron, I almost spat my morning tea (again) when he said so casually "lunk alert" after the all important 'grunt' I know WE ALL make when screwing in things such as that. I always think, "I should just pop in the garage and grab the drill...no I can do it..." and thus come the "lunk sounds" Ha ha. I love the 'spend the day, get things done with you' videos so much. And I'm being a good girl and making my own list as I watch you ; and trying not to spit out my tea at your funny companion there Laura ;)
    I had to add, another moment I so could relate to, was organizing in the garage with hubby and then I see something, like your praying mantis egg sack, LOL. This stuff IS important, think of all the details the hubbies would miss if we weren't there to point them out :) And thumbs up for that, Praying Mantis SO good for the garden, as you well know. They are like the strong foot soldiers, well maybe they are more the powerful general and the ladybirds/bugs are the foot soldiers, marching unto war in our gardens :)

      Peachy, I hope they will come up and bloom nicely, here in Minnesota the snow cover is insulation for our perennials. Even in the polar vortex a few years ago I lost some shrubs but all my perennials survived. Haven't grown those particular flowers but have heuchera, hosta, peonies etc that survive nicely even in low snow conditions. Good luck with your plantings.🤞

    I started my anemones this weekend. I think I planted them wrong after watching this video...pointy side down. Crud, lol 😆

    Get some 6-8” diameter pvc pipe and cut them down to 3-4’. Bolt them together at top and bottom. Then bolt them to wall every so often. You could have a whole row of pvc and each one can hold different stakes. We used this method in our parts store for long snowmobile slides. Love to watch you guys work together 😊🌱

    Love those ranunculus colors! Hope they turn out. Also enjoyed that you save those taters from the trash and planted some up just for fun.

    Me soaking seeds.... I'll go sit on the couch while I wait. Laura soaking seeds.... I'll go clean out the barn while I wait. .... I think there's a lesson or two to be learned there

      Not at all, @Anne Melon
      Her point was that she doesn't tend to wait long enough and Laura obviously does. Lesson learned.

      @@annemelon5283 good lord. She saying that to her waiting for them to soak would be her activity. Instead Laura is out doing another project. She's implying maybe she needs to learn to multitask.

    I didn't know what the plants were until I clicked on the links you provided. Those ARE beautiful flowers! Thank you for teaching me about some flowers I have now fell in love with.

    I would love to see a garden tour of how things have changed. It would be nice to see your pair it with video of how it used to look, and then maybe you can start to explain your plans more of what you would like to do if you already have a plan for a space. I love seeing the progress and process, and it is always interesting to see a winter garden versus what it has looked like in the summer. I would like to transition my garden into a space that suits me more than just what the previous owners of my house wanted, and love seeing how others transition their spaces to fit their needs gradually and working with the existing garden when needed.

    I should go shopping in Laura and Aaron's barn - far more options than my local garden centre! lol

    Lara you have such a good heart and an old soul! Makes me proud and hopeful that future generations will continue gardening. I worry about that. Maybe with your two kiddos you could start a community kids garden on the new land to ensure the love of gardening for our future generations.
