As an owner myself, I can only agree with you. This pen is truly the Rolls Royce among pens. Mine is with the medium nib and it really writes like a dream and the craftmanship of the pen....wow!
this is one of those pens that completely rewrites what you know or think you know about writing instruments - for me personally the moment was in 2019 at the London Pen Show when I picked up one in person first time from the table of Sarj Minhas :)) .... then I said... one day ill get one - I HAVE TO!
@@pen.venture This is for sure a pen one have to try to experience how special this pen really is and just how great it writes. It is BIG, so the size may not be for everyone, but I believe that the lightness of the pen, compensate for the size - it is so comfortable to write with, and so far my most favored pen in my growing collection! ;)
Another great review, Thank you for sharing the joy my friend. What a pen... I love everything about this pen. As you said, you can't find anything that you don't like on this fountain pen, I 100% agree with you. Every time I grab my Namiki Emperor to write with I just don't want to let go, it is so much fun writing with it. Hats up to the Japanese craftsmanship.
Thank you very much Scot! Although most of you are familiar with the caliber of pens in my collection - this one has been a veri big and nice surprise from day 1
Everyone who reviews these says, “I don’t see anyone posting this pen”, and I’m thinking, “Oh my god that pen needs posting!” Maybe one day I can own one and post it 😜
I feel like I havent seen your channel before and i don't know how. Very great production, presentation, and enthusiasm! This is my grail pen, thank you for sharing with us!
There’s only three people that I know that has a Namiki Emperor are SBREBrown, David Parker at Figboot On Pens and Adam the Ink Guy (but he has a black one). - It certainly is ‘an emperor of a pen’! And I hope that you’re truly grateful for the gift someone had sent you! Please enjoy it with passion…
Thank you Hari :D there are a few of them out in the wild, for sure the first time I've seen one in a video was on SBREBrown channel and then on David Parker's channel - super happy with mine
This is an amazing pen for sure! The only negative for me is that they are known to become much darker in color over time, which some might enjoy but I prefer the bright cherry red.
This is known and seen over time on some other people's Vermilion finish. Some get to be orange in the end, I guess if I was presented with a Orange version one I wouldnt go for it, but with graduate fading and slowly evolving into something like that, I guess I can give it a pass :D
Great review, as always. This is a great pen on many levels. I ordered mine back in February and still waiting for it to arrive - hopefully soon. Stay well.
Thank you so much for fine review. May I add that I believe the feed is actually plastic - not ebonite - and coated with urushi. Forgive me if I am mistaken.
Beautiful video Emy. The Namiki Emperor is indeed a great work of art. For most owners it is their GRAIL pen. I have the Namiki Yukari Royale in both Vermilion and Black. One has a F nib and other M nib. They are the siblings of the Emperor and the size is perfect for me. I think for your daily writing you should consider one Yukari Royale. Besides the nib of Sailor King of Pen, Pilot nibs are the best in the world. Please also try the Pilot Custom 845 Urushi. It again is awesome. Anyway thanks for the video. Its so well made.
Hey there K :D thank you for your feedback - since I had the " Emperor " experience, now I need to check its siblings and I want to see how the Yukari is feeling since its a metal body :D Im expecting this coming week some new pieces from Pilot - just as a spoiler - Japanese Exclusives :D (that is all I can tell for now) :D
Thank you! Cheers! :)) that is very... uplifting to say so :D thank you and I wish to only get better with my vocabulary and to be articulated enough for the review quality to simply shine
@@pen.venture u are just fine.. ur vocabulary is already awesome.. and always keep the accent.... sounds so cool... cheers brother... subscribed and liked... I love my Vermillion Emperor...
Dont be shy... as big as it is, it's strangely practical .... its weight is not as imposing and its ergonomic factor is high, carrying it is a bit of a challenge because it requires a special carry accessory and it needs a lot of care to not drop it or leave it unattended - it will find someone that nicks it if its left on a table unattended its like eye candy
Thank you Nicholas, Emperor is the size I presented - I think that something in a smaller size but similar is Namiki Yukari Vermilion Urushi - what is different is that is made of metal and urushi lacquered and yes - it is smaller than the Emperor - keep in mind that the Emperor is made of ebonite and urushi lacquered
@@pen.venture Thank you, this helps me a lot. I was going for a line close to a Montblanc medium. I feel I will go for an Emperor-M and have it adjusted rather than getting a B-nib.
@Pen Venture I still pocket it and take it to work. Some people think it is ridiculous. I tell them, it is a fountain pen thing, you wouldn't understand! 😀
@@pen.venture What’s the difference between the Pilot Black ink and the Namiki Black which comes in UFO shaped bottle??? Are they both same in different shaped bottles??
@@pen.venture Yeah, I'm new to this hobby. I have a TWSBI Eco and have ordered a Pilot Custom 823. Hopefully, as my hobby and as well as I grow, I will be able to afford this beautiful Emperor pen.

@@AreaCode4hoe8 Yeah, I too thought that instead of buying a bunch of low-quality pens, I jumped the line and got myself a nice pen. Now, I am saving money for the Lamy Dialog cc.
Nice pen! As you know I love my Namiki Emperor pens! No. 50 technically, but who is counting? Would only take a few weeks to make. Regardless, the vermilion emperor is a very special pen and super fun to use. Good writer for an enormous pen.
It annoys me that eyedropper Danitrios are not nearly as carefully made, but are quite a bit more expensive, even in the most basic finishes (which almost always have some flaws, no one does solid urushi as well as Pilot/Namiki and Nakaya). Namiki should make tamenuri emperors...
hmmm im partly agreeing with this, although I have many danitrio in these plain colors that leaked, some more than others. I have some ideas like going to a store where they have so many o rings sizes and types for anything under the sun, maybe trying to make something of a improvement for the seal on the barrel, but the fine fitting and details of the namiki prevails anyway
@@pen.venture I picked up a Mikado a month ago, no leaks yet, knock on wood. However, I did put a serious amount of silicone grease everywhere and the mechanism still doesn't feel nearly as good as the emperor.
Eyedropper system doesn’t work well. You must write with a part of the pen unscrew! This pen seems too big for being comfortable ! Aesthetically looks very bad😢 I can't believe you like it😮
:)) I cant believe you dont like a fully working pen that looks and feels so nice as this Emperor - after all, this pen is clearly not for everyone :D that what makes it great for me and many that actually get these pens, they like to be unique... and also they dont mind opinions that are contrary to theirs
I would like to buy and test. But like you said there are a lot of issues with the eye dropper system .The warm of the hand can cause lack of ink and also the end of the barrel it could leak ink if the serration will lose its grip In the long run!😮😮 A big risk with a filling system very primitive and perhaps delicate!!!! That costs like a car!😢 And also the size is not completely comfortable in the hand😢

Interested in getting one only concern is the size for daily use. If you can get 1 pen what one would you go for ?

What lighting do you use for writing at your desk at night?
Hey Thomas - I use a recording light bi color (warm-cold light) - a giant soft box with a LED lamp
Do you need to keep the piston value always open while writing ?
:D its not needed but if I want more wetness ... I keep it open
