Easily one of the best tutorials I have ever watched. It seemed slow compared to the others I have seen that move at warp speed with lots of filler or back and forth. Oh, one last point that really was important to me: You didn't include the clicking and typing audio in your video. This is one of the best tutorials out there! Very easy to follow Your voice and instructions. Please, keep posting more videos! Thanks for this one! ;)
Downloaded fusion 360 this afternoon. I've been using 3D drawing programs since the 90s. The first one I used came with a tutorial that took me step by step through all the operations form the most basic to the more advanced. That tutorial was so well written, that by the end I was able to produce drawings suitable for the catalogue of equipment I was designing. Much later I tried learning Autocad at college. It seemed that the instruction at that time started in the middle and worked out. Most of the time I was completely lost. That class started with 16 people and finished the first semester with 6. I've been using sketchup for a while now but find it very difficult in many ways. Looks like you have produced a set of videos that will see me using fusion in the future. Congratulations! You did lose me with SVG files. I have not come across that term before and don't know what it means. Please be careful to avoid acronyms in beginners videos. Otherwise well done!
Highest compliments to you for the best Fusion 360 lesson I've ever seen. 100% success on my machine with this video. You left nothing out and covered all the bases from start to 3d print. I highly recommend this video to anyone starting out. Also recommended to anyone starting over after a long hiatus. Thank You.
Thank you for a deliberate annunciation and calculated rate of speech, that allows us time to comprehend what you are saying, as well as using familar words to clarify letters, such as charlie for "C" and delta for "D" etc. I'm an old guy that needs all of the help I can get, and it means a great deal to me at 79, to feel like I can hope to learn some new tricks. Being able to 3d model my wooden clocks I've made in BobCad, would be nearly sublime. As a former educator, I recognize and admire your natural teaching skills. For this, I am grateful. Gary
thanks for the tutorial. very helpful. i do have a question though. at the end of your video you used a design shortcut to type in text. what is the hotkey for the shortcut and/or where do you find the text option?
Hi, Alicia. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I used the shortcuts box. You can activate the shortcuts box with the keyboard letter "S". Once the shortcuts box is open all you have to do is type out the name for the feature you're trying to use. Then, if the feature is the top results, as "text" was in this case, you simply hit the enter key. Otherwise, you'll have to use the arrows on your keyboard, or your mouse, to select the desired feature. Cheers, Kevin :)
My Solidworks license expired. So I am now learning Fusion360. I was able to follow along for the entire tutorial all the way to the slicer. Thanks for a great video.
By far the best tutorial I've found so far. I've been using tinkercad and putting off learning fusion because every time I try a tutorial it becomes confusing and complicated. This is the first one I've done from start to finish with no mess ups and more importantly, no frustrations. Thanks so much!!!!
This was amazing! Thank you so much. You made it easy to understand and easy to follow along for a complete newbie like me. Your patient pace and attention to detail are much appreciated.
Great video Kevin. As a professional educator myself, I would just like to say that your delivery was concise, clear, and without repeated and's and uh's. I will watch more.
I bought my 3D printer in order to make stamps so you can guess how stoked I am for this to be your first lesson. AMAZING! you explained everything at exactly the right pace and perfectly clearly. TY so much.
Just started the tutorial and recommend that you first start by teaching how to see and change the UNITS used in drawings as when I stared I was in INCHES and froze when you said millimetres... Now I need to find how to change my drawing's units from inches to mm... back to lesson once I figure that out.... So far, complements on pace... you are easy to understand and not rushing.... ok off to find how to change units to mm... back later... Ok... back... that was fun... So off to find the your next tutorial. Great job on this one. Thanks!
Gotta give you a big thumbs up for encouraging people to be honest and hit the dislike button if they didn't like the video. In this age of social media where views and "likes" = fame & money it's refreshing to hear openess and honesty
Thanks for this. A couple tips: 1. Covering orbit and moving around first. Hard to navigate when you don't know how to pan. 2. A fresh install has Y up as far as your planes go. I understand with 3D printing you want Z up, so may want to cover how to change this. Making your first line is confusing without this change and makes your plate stand on end.
Hi Michael. Thanks for the feedback. The default up axis has changed a handful of times the past couple of years. I always record tutorials with the default settings and at the time of recording this it was the Z up :)
Hi! I'm a 12-year-old from Oklahoma and this helped sooo much! I've been getting into Fusion 360 and this was an awesome tutorial for a complete beginner like me. Thank you so much!
Man thank Gawd for this channel. I just got a new Ender 3 Pro and have no idea what I'm doing. I have a utube channel (for years) and create crazy magnet motors in which I have to make rotor housing and setup housings and until now, its all be done but using wood, metal or manipulating plastics and acrylic. Finally 3D printing and come down in price and I can now make these parts to my exact specs. 360 seems very daunting but your course is very helpful. Thanks a million!!
I bought an Elegoo Neptune 2S last week, woohoo I have no earthly idea on how to make 3d models , I am also a technophobe so I will do my best to follow on your lesson. I will admit some of this stuff is over my head but I am committed to showing my wife that "this is not a toy " as if my continued happiness is in the balance. Strangely enough a stamp was one of the things I wanted to make first , so win win for me as this is the first fusion 360 tutorial I have ever watched. Hopefully I will be able to design a logo and have that on my stamp , or my daughters stamp as its for her products. I can assure you that I will have your vid in one window and fusion in the other . I thankyou for your down to earth vid and methods.
Thank you. I was about to punt my computer out of frustration trying to figure this software out on my own. This was a great crash course and allowed me to do what I needed.
There are many tutorials for Fusion 360. I was trying to duplicate the work in another tutorial but I became frustrated. There was sleight of hand or something that the presenter was doing behind the scene that I had difficulty in duplicating. This tutorial is VERY happily not the same. The instructions are clear and when you accomplish them, they work. As such, if you're looking for a tutorial to get started I can recommend this one.
This was really useful for me coming from Sketchup to Fusion 360 as it quickly enabled me to transfer those skills to a new interface and process. Thank you!
I salute you man. This saved me hours of messing around and looking a complete ignoramus in class. I like your pace- though I originally felt you were going too slowly only for to realize that that was the pace that I needed. Thanks a million!
One of the best tutorials Ive seen on youtube, easy to follow, went to the perfect speed so I did not have to pause every 10 seconds, and I have learnt a lot too, thx!
First of all, let me say I am delighted with Fusion 360. It is complex, but that’s because it is so powerful and feature-laden. But therein lies the problem for beginners. I am new to Fusion 360, and I’m taking Kevin’s 360 course. It’s very good, but I’m having one problem that is wasting lots of time. I have to frequently rewind the presentation a min or 2 to see exactly how Kevin opened a dialog box. It’s maddening. I have had to do it dozens of times during the first few classes. I’d like to offer 3 solutions: 1. Go a little slower in the first few classes, and don’t assume that we have already memorized the names for all the areas of the screen that offer a huge assortment of dialog boxes. For example: In the blah blah area open the umpty fratz dialog box. What did he say? Where did he get that?
2. Also, is there a diagram I could print out that shows the names of all the various areas of the screen. Kevin assumes we know the names and therefore we know what area to look at. Result? A second or 2 later we’re looking at a dialog box and asking Where did he get that? Rewind again and again. A nice bright box around parts of the screen with a label for the name would be great. 3. How about a glossary of terms? A printable item for reference. When we hear a term or the name of an area of the screen we can glance at an alphabetical list of terms. Pictures in the glossary would be great as well. It’s possible you have all of this, but I haven’t found these aids yet. (BTW, many years ago I was a technical writer for IBM, National Instruments, Texas Instruments, and other lesser known companies.) Would you mind passing this on to Kevin Kennedy? Constructively and Sincerely, Tom Daoust, free trial user in 2nd day of trial
Excellent tutorial, thanks!! I've worked with AutoCAD in 3D for over 30 years, and Revit close to 15 years already - not to mention various others - but Fusion is still new to me... A lot is familiar, but I'm never kidding myself that learning something new automatically means copying over (bad) habits from other software 🤣 Thanks again, I'll definitely give it a go!
Man, this tutorial was excellent. I appreciate the very step by step, even where to click in the menu instruction, that's very important and I'm glad you taught it like this. Also finally a tutorial that I can actually see, most of them out there aren't zoomed in enough you can't see what they click on, thanks very much and keep up the good work!!
Great tutorial. I'm a newbie and didn't know how to use the esc key to stop drawing, so it took me a few tries to finally get it! Project was a good one to work with. Thanks!

This was a great tutorial. Your pace is perfect and as some of the other comments say below, thanks for not showing how fast you can move through the process. Thanks again!
I’m not an engineer and have no experience with any 3D software BUT I do have a lot of ideas on things I want to build and this course is great starter. I just want to get to a level where I can efficiently over time be confident by starting out on the right foot and not jump around to different 3D tools. Thanks so much so much for the tutorial and looking forward to watching all your tuts. And yes include a 3D tutorial and how to make svg images😁✌️
I've tried 10 times to follow along with the first steps of your tutorial. For example, I draw the very first line you draw, and it doesn't wait for me to dimension it....OK, I finally got it to do what you did in the tutorial, on try 15, with the weirdest combination of button presses I could imagine. If I am not supposed to drag when I draw a line (it kinda works), well, you need to hire someonne who doesn't know the package to explain it.
Thank you SO SO much! I have been dying to learn Fusion but every other tutorial seemed like they just assumed there was some knowledge or move wayy to fast. This was nice and slow enough to follow along. Not to mention I did have a need for a custom stamp. Some things I had to google for my specific stamp but this was a great starting place and done in a very teachable manner. I found one other guy with tutorials that can be followed along to learn and I'm hoping to really be able to grasp this. Thank you thank you!

I closed so many before I found your video bc the sound of the keys or mouse was SO LOUD it pushed me over the edge. I have a sensitivity to those sounds and you eliminated them. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Without the sound of someone beating the keyboard like it owed them money, I was able to fully focus and learn tons. Top Tier vidoe, Friend.
Thank you! 👍🏼
I know this is 2 years old but.. thank you SO MUCH for making these videos 😭 I'm dumb and was losing my mind trying to use Blender for my 3d print designs, found Fusion360 and your video, and my life as a maker has changed for the better... thanks to this, I'm ACTUALLY making progress on my design instead of still watching Blender tutorials and wondering when I'd learn something useful for my purposes. Thank you so much again ❤️
Fantastic lesson!
In this one tutorial I learned more than with Fusions own outdated lessons that only made me angry. You have given me the incentive to continue. Thank you very much.
Hi, Gary. I'm glad to hear that. If you enjoy my style, I would recommend checking out my popular playlist titled, "Learn Fusion 360 in 30 Days for Complete Beginners!" In this series, I cover all of the core features of Fusion 360, getting brand new users up to speed and ready to build their own unique designs. You can check that out right here - bit.ly/learn-fusion360
Please note, the series has the older UI look, but all of the features and tools are still relevant. You can watch this tutorial that should help bridge the gap as far as location and iconography changes - th-cam.com/video/tuZzHcmFtg4/w-d-xo.html
Cheers, Kevin :)
This video is fantastic! Thank you for your excellent instruction and style. As a corporate travel trainer myself, I appreciate your meticulously organized lesson plan, delivering the content with clarity and at a good pace, all while clearly illustrating your subject matter to the audience.
I’m planning on learning fusion 360 for woodworking purposes; I hope I can find a playlist of tutorials in your channel with a similar meticulous instructional approach.
#kudos
This is one of the best tutorials out there! Very easy to follow Your voice and instructions. Please, keep posting more videos! Thanks for this one! ;)
Thanks! Keep learning, you can do it! :)
So Civil Engineer by trade, countless CADD classes under my belt. This is by far one of the best if not the best one I've ever taken! Thankyou!
Thanks, John! I appreciate the kind words.
It was nice that even if you’ve had to do a step 10 times every time you explained it that’s how I can remember it
This is such a great tutorial! And I'm not even done watching it!
Gary
Thanks, Gary! I appreciate the kind words. Best of luck with your projects!
thanks for the tutorial. very helpful. i do have a question though. at the end of your video you used a design shortcut to type in text. what is the hotkey for the shortcut and/or where do you find the text option?
@@ProductDesignOnline Why when I write text does it just turn into blue boxes?
@@grantekstrom Hi, Grant. Is the text displaying as rectangles instead of letters? If so, what Font are you trying to use?
Super, thanks for asking. Was wondering myself.
Yes - more "3D" please!
Maybe, between you, Lars and Brad I'll learn Fusion yet!!
Thanks, middleclasspoor! I'll definitely do more 3D-printing related videos. Keep at it...I believe in you!!! Cheers, Kevin :)
One of the best tutorial videos i've seen in a long time!
Thanks! Happy learning 😎
This was amazing! Thank you so much. You made it easy to understand and easy to follow along for a complete newbie like me. Your patient pace and attention to detail are much appreciated.
Haha, my name is Kevin, so when you typed out "Kevin's Custom Stamp" I got scared lol.
lol...if only TH-cam let me customize the video per each viewer's name ;)
Thanks for watching! Cheers, Kevin :)
That's weird. When I see this tutorial it says Tom's Custom Stamp. 😁
lol. I'm Kelvin :)
I'm just happy as long as fear prospers.
Great tutorial. Concise instructions and demonstrations and at a speed that was easy to follow.
Thanks, PW! I'm glad to hear that. Be sure to check out my beginner playlist for more tutorials. Cheers, Kevin :)
I love Fusion 360! As an industrial designer, this is my CAD program of choice. Super easy to learn and easy to use.
I appreciate you taking time to explain clearly and pausing long enough for us to see what you actually did.
"3D"
Also a tutorial for creating SVG files
wren sent me here!
Oof.
This is possibly the best paced, most easy to follow tutorial I have seen on TH-cam. Thank you for helping me wrap my head around this program!
Great video Kevin. As a professional educator myself, I would just like to say that your delivery was concise, clear, and without repeated and's and uh's. I will watch more.
I’m lost pal, help me
I bought my 3D printer in order to make stamps so you can guess how stoked I am for this to be your first lesson. AMAZING! you explained everything at exactly the right pace and perfectly clearly.
A couple tips:
Thankyou for all your help. I don't mind telling you this old man was lost until I watched your video. I plan on watching them all.
I don't normally comment on videos, but I wanted to say thank you, you've simplified what seemed like a mammoth first step.
Thanks, I appreciate your support!
I really have to say it definitely is one of the best Tutorials for CAD programs on TH-cam, just fascinating 👌👌
Thank you!
Welcome to Fusion 360, Phil! I think you'll love the parametric nature of it. What sorts of projects do you work on?
I salute you man. This saved me hours of messing around and looking a complete ignoramus in class. I like your pace- though I originally felt you were going too slowly only for to realize that that was the pace that I needed. Thanks a million!
One of the best tutorials Ive seen on youtube, easy to follow, went to the perfect speed so I did not have to pause every 10 seconds, and I have learnt a lot too, thx!
Just listening to this video while driving home was enough for me to make my first 3d model. I can't wait to print it.
I’d like to offer 3 solutions:
(BTW, many years ago I was a technical writer for IBM, National Instruments, Texas Instruments, and other lesser known companies.)
Would you mind passing this on to Kevin Kennedy?
Constructively and Sincerely,
Tom Daoust, free trial user in 2nd day of trial
3D, new to fusion 360 and 3d printing trying to learn fusion 360 going to watch all your videos. Thanks for what you do
Very nice tutorial. I’m completely beginner and for me is the right way to teach. Step by step, slowly well explain. You really professional. Thanks
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
The perfect follow along for a beginner to create a simple, easily reproduced design. Thank you for getting me started!!!
Excellent tutorial, thanks!!
I've worked with AutoCAD in 3D for over 30 years, and Revit close to 15 years already - not to mention various others - but Fusion is still new to me...
A lot is familiar, but I'm never kidding myself that learning something new automatically means copying over (bad) habits from other software 🤣
Thanks again, I'll definitely give it a go!
Great tutorial. I've used Fusion 360 a few times but I learned several new things by watching this video.
I'm a beginner and I'm working around my shortcomings. This video is of great help to me. Many Thanks!
I was quite frustrated with Fusion 360 and then I found your video. 👍
Just completed the tutorial. that was really informative. My $5.00 Patreon is so worth it. thanks again Kevin!!
Watched for 8 minutes, VERY impressed. Got your fusion 360 course and donated.
Thanks, Grayson! Happy learning 😃
Haven't touched autodesk since high school, much appreciated.
Great tutorial. I'm a newbie and didn't know how to use the esc key to stop drawing, so it took me a few tries to finally get it! Project was a good one to work with. Thanks!
As much as i like the "teaching tech" from down under, you sir have blowed him out of the water with what I just learned in 30 mins. THANKS
I just started F360 and this was a great first look at it. Thank you!
I'm totally new to F3D but coming from years of using Sketchup. This was a fantastic tutorial and very relevant 2 years later.
Thanks, David! Are you using it for Woodworking, 3D printing, or other?
Best tutorial video I've ever watched, I have been using Tinkercad ever since getting my 3d printers, today I thought I need more!!! Thank you so much from England!
Thanks, Oliver. You'll find Fusion 360 to be very powerful compared to TinkerCAD. Stick with it and you'll be a pro in no time :)
All I can say is THANK YOU for taking the time to share your knowledge with all of us neophytes in YT!! I've learned quite a bit with just this one video.
Hey, Rolando... glad to hear that. Thanks for watching :)
I've fired your video on about hour ago, now im sitting here with two stl files on my desktop, one for handle and one for plate. Thanks a lot for easy tutorial, i had no prior experience with 3d modeling other than sketchup 2017.
This is, by far, the best tutorial ever. The way you explained everything was perfect. I feel I learned a lot quickly
Glad to hear that! Happy learning :)
@@ProductDesignOnline thank you so much. Learning the program I thought was gonna be the hardest part, one video and I did some amazing things already, I keep learning more thanks to you
I am a beginner and this was the PERFECT tutorial for me!!!! Thank you SOO much for taking the time and energy to help others!!!💕💕💕
Extremely helpful video! I've made a couple models to print before, but the process was a struggle. I've learned quite a few things from this video that will be helpful for my next project. Thanks!
honesly this is my favorite youtube find rn, your cannel is awesome. I'll be binging for a while. Thanks for the hard work.
This was far and away the best tutorial on Fusion 360 I've found! Thanks!
Thanks, Joel. Happy learning :)
Fantastic! I went from knowing absolutely nothing to just designing my first 3D printed object, which is going to be a wonderful Christmas gift. Thanks for a great tutorial!
This was my first ever go at Fusion 360, thanks for helping me through it! Your well paced and methodical approach helped this learner achieve success. I almost went down a rabbit hole of making my own SVG thanks for having your file available or I would have wondered off into Wonderland and been lost.
im stuck on that too how do you make your own svg
Easy to follow instructions, great execution. I have never used any design software before and managed to follow the steps with ease. Look forward to seeing more videos.
Thank you! There seemed to be a couple VERY minor differences as I'm using Fusion 360 2022, but otherwise spot-on!!
Never designed anything in Fusion360 before and bam! I got my self a plate and handle, sent it to my brother for printing. Excited to se how it will end up.
Congrats! What printer do you guys have?
@@ProductDesignOnline one brother: creality cr-10 with some printed modifications the other an ender-5
25 seconds in and I'm thinking to myself.. I love you!
