Pro Tip: Avoid sketch fillets at all cost. There are some scenarios when they're necessary, but generally you'll want to use the Solid modeling Fillet. This will keep your sketches simpler and easier to fully define (to drive design intent). Modeling fillets are also parametric and can be better managed in your timeline, along with other parameters and features.
This is something I've struggled with, my fillets were breaking the parametric design. Although the trick to fix it was to not pres enter on dimensions but clicking the next lines (this was not clear in the video). Turns out fusion is capable of making those fillets parametric, but you need to make sure that the dimensions between the centers of the fillet are staying unchnaged. If you press enter, the dimensions will change only on the side you're editing breaking the dimensional coherence.
he is 100% right about that. I was using filets in the solid modeling and then tried in the sketch environment and quickly found that makes future adjustments a serious problem
I've watched several fusion 360 beginner videos and I can honestly say that I got more from your video that any other. I've watched it several times. Thank you for the easy to understand video.
i agree too. been watching a lot of videos that auto desk makes for learning fusion 360 and the presentation here is much better and easier to understand.
I need to comment on my own comment: Just realised, as I am watching the video, that there is so much valuable info included that it blows my mind. ⭐⭐⭐
people can complain but this was exactly what i have been looking for in an instruction video that makes it 5th grade level but not insulting intelligence, bravo good sir
For someone just trying to learn the basics I have to say THANK YOU. I watched another video and they sped through it, did not explain how they even made it extrude or set the dimensions. The cube to start off was perfect to cover those basics.
This video was extremely helpful. I'm just getting into 3D printing and trying to learn CAD and you explained a few things I was struggling with. I know this video is a few years old but I still wanted to let you know that it was extremely helpful and I appreciate you doing it. 👍
I know this is an older video from you, so not sure if you're still looking at these comments. Thank you so much! This was exactly what I was looking for to get the basics down and begin the troubleshooting process of Fusion360. Been 3d printing for a very long time and wanted to get into making my models for my drones. This was a great starting step to get my through the basics, working with existing models, and all that. Wonderful video!
Amazingly useful tutorial! I just got my first 3D printer and, as it happens, Pi cases are one of the things I want to make. Seeing someone doing a real world design like this was far more useful than the "let's just make a box and put a hole in it" style from other tutorials -- on top of which, most of the popular tutorials seem to be based on older versions of Fusion 360. And thanks for the GrabCAD link -- that's crazy useful to learn about!
I wish that I had found this video earlier! It gives me everything I need to be more confident and efficient in Fusion 360. It’s nicely paced and clearly explained. Thank you so much!
The tip at 10:00 is pure gold for 3D printing without supports just by adding some angles for the printer to build onto vs having mid air support requirements.
Wish I could find a dozen or two of these type videos. Crash Course is Excellent.. BTW.. It is your Most Popular 3D Printing Video... Thank you so much for taking the time to record/publish it... Kudos! Lots to learn to get started!! This really helped!!
Hey man, I have to say that this video is most likely one of the best ones on TH-cam. I have been browsing and watching (alarming really) for weeks.. and I think you are extremely pedagogical about all this. I hade less than absolute zero background in 3D modeling when I started and from only this video I have learned to navigate Fusion 360 and make dynamic models! Is there any way to pay for your time and get consultation? Do you have curses one like my self can buy? I did join the DS server but there is no chat channel to be able to talk/discuss and engage as it seems (maybe that is a user error)? Nevertheless I have to thank you for actually sharing knowledge!
I was about to hire somebody to do an enclosure design for me. But your video gave me the skills (and confidence) to stumble my way through the design myself. Thanks!
I subscribed and hit the bell. I'm new, brand new (less than a week) at 3D printing. Look, you gave us a disclaimer of not being an expert, but here's my observation... before I found you I watched a number of other TH-camrs who claimed to be professional designers or engineers. I'm not saying I don't believe them; but their instructions where fast and way more technical than they needed to be. Your instructions were easy to follow and described the operations perfectly. Thanks!!! I'll explore your channel as time permits.
This has been one of the most helpful videos for 360 I've found. Thanks for putting this together! I dove into using your RPI example to guide modelling a case for a SEEED XIAO unit. Well described step-by-step with tips and clear explanations made this very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this crash course. Blender user here and I find Fusion much easier to work around with 3D printed materials. Thanks again new subscriber here🥰🥰🥰
Excellent intro to Fusion360 - great pace and plenty of CAD-specific AND design for manufacture techniques highlighted/demo’d to help get noobies started. Will be sharing - Thanks! 🙏 😊
Wow, that was a really good demo~! I'm a woodworker and have been using SketchUp since its release, but being new to 3D printing, I see that I have a lot to learn about this type of modeling. I'm looking forward to more of your tutorials of this type. Great tip about drawing around an existing (accurate) model rather than recreating the wheel. Thanks much~!
Dude you are the best. I've been struggling with grasping the concept on how to design 3D models and finally your video made me understand it completely. Great video, it is exactly what I needed. I've learned a lot from it and was able to do my first 3D model in Fusion 360, from start to finish and printing it; it turned out perfect. Thank you!!
Wow, thanks so much for this video! I have been struggling to make a case design for a Framework laptop mainboard and the section on making a Pi case has been so helpful in making the process easier and more efficient.
This was exactly what I was searching for. Got me through my first design with the basic know how of what I was doing without having to learn what every single feature does. Thanks a bunch.
11:00 Actually Fillet and Filet are spelled differently and thus pronounced differently. So glad to have found this video... Made my first design WAY easier!!! thanks!
Couple of years late to the party, but the concept of this video plus the others you mentioned, were good enough for a like and sub - thanks for the taking the time to make them, I am going to go watch the others after this one.
Really like the crash course and the informtion about 3d parts like the RPI that we can download from adafruit and other web place. This will help me a lot with my projects!
hey man thanks for the vid. went thru with it and have to say it needs a lot of improvement. there are lots of moments when you "do sth" and dont say what, for example whenyou added the horizontal support u went back to sketch, but it is almost impossible to see how you did it. as a person who was doing a lot of tutorials just a friendly reminder to accent everything you do click. you remember most of this stuff but if someone was trying to learn from this it has some flaws
thanks for the video, man. some of it i already knew and some of it will definitely save me a ton of time i would have spent figuring some of this out. this might be the most useful 40 minutes spent teaching fusion 360 on the internet
This is not specifically what I was looking for but damn I learned a lot that's going to save some time moving forward and that I wish I knew sooner. :D Thanks for taking the time to make the video!
exactly the video i looking for as beginner, just advance enough yet still covers all the basic esscentials in a professional well made video fasion, so good.
I really enjoyed watching you make the Pi Case, TY for taking the time to explain why and how your doing everything. It was really inspiring to try and make something on my own.
Wow! Thanks man! You know what they should fire the people that make tutorials at Autodesk Fusion 360 and hire you instead and I really mean it, I got more out of your 40 minutes than out of hours of theirs, I dunno what goes through their mind when they create those, theirs don't wanna make me use Fusion 360, your video makes me want to use it more.
Thank you for giving me a good starting point. I wanted to build my own Pi case to accommodate a 120mm fan and this was a perfect introduction. Tried in TinkerCAD but it's a heck of a lot harder without tools like Fillet and Chamfer or even being able to project from other objects.
Hi Wermy! First, Thank you for the very good !class!" You covered the basics and a lot more. I think an video of curved lines would be very helpful and lets say you have a straight line and then you need to curve it, just a bit. And also, sometimes you need a line/curve to be a little like a "spring", so to cover diffrient types of filament would be great!
At min 16, you could have done a thin extrude on the line without using offset. Offset can be a bit of a pain especially when you are filleting corners - nice videos though
great content and thank you. I do have one suggestion if this is going to be a crash course, def should slow down the hyper mouse. two things are happening here. The pointer is small enough to easily get lost and by the time our eyes have followed it to its destination, you have already rapidly moved it away. The verbal direction is excellent, but the actual mouse pace needs to be dialed back and the pointer needs better visibility. Looking good otherwise :)
Only recently started to get into Fusion and THIS video has shown me the most useful especially as a newbie to fusion. I WOULD like to know what some of the KB Shortcuts are because I have stared at the menu across the top and the only one I found was "E" for extrude and that doesn't always seem to work... Must be me. Great video though.. Thanks...
I Learned so much from Just half the Video. I did the Blender video Nikko put out and I find the Video good but Blender is just so difficult to make thinks unless your making more free form stuff.
Hey thanks for share vid... Coming from AutoCAD you helped explain common functions and key short cuts. I hope it makes F360 easier to model with...thanks!
Great Video! When I right click on the Body to save, the option is "Save As Mesh" with 4 formats, two of which are STL (Binary and ASCII), the others being OBJ and 3MF. I noticed you saved as STL Binary. Is that the standard save format for dropping it into a slicer? A comment a few below my own asked a similar question and the answer was 3MF is a replacement for STL. My conclusion is I should save my files as 3MF. Is that correct?
.3mf is quickly taking over as the format of choice because it can contain much more data than just the model (things like print settings). STL works fine though and is very popular still.
Appreciate the video, most of the videos I see have older version of Fusion so its VERY frustrating when buttons are now where shown, or options are a lot harder to find in the newer version
I know I know, it's another super long video but this one kind of needed it. 🙈 What other crash-course type videos would you guys like to see?
Electronics and software for stuff like Raspberry Pi and Arduino
Maybe just how to understand electronics
Can you plz make a cad model of USA army drone mq9 reaper
potentially a series showing electrical engineering or pcb design? I know these are things that had very little resources when I started.
I'd like to see more details on how to add the connecting of two pieces via slots, dovetails and magnets, pls.
THIS.WAS.EXACTLY.WHAT.I.NEEDED. Just a normal dude using normal language. THANK YOU!

Agreed!
i agree too. been watching a lot of videos that auto desk makes for learning fusion 360 and the presentation here is much better and easier to understand.
This is the most clear and comprehensive tutorial on using Fusion 360 for 3D print models I’ve found online. Thank you very much.
This video was made 3 years ago and still going very strong. Epic. Thanks a lot.
I need to comment on my own comment:

Good info, but in my humble opinion, take away the music...it is distracting and if I turn the volume up to hear you, it just gets louder.
This helped a lot! As someone who is a complete noob at cad design, your explanations made a lot more sense than those of some of the pros.
The tip at 10:00 is pure gold for 3D printing without supports just by adding some angles for the printer to build onto vs having mid air support requirements.

Great overview! I'm coming over from solidworks, and this was a great crash course on how to use the F360 workflow. Great pacing.
Awesome intro video. Thanks! It's tempting to just jump into designing something, and never learn vital tools like the user parameters

Thanks so much for the wealth of info shared. The braindump for the most used features is on point. well done!
great video, found this very helpful, ,much appreciated
Excellent resource and super useful. I'm taking the plunge in 3d printers / modelling and your videos are a great reference. Thank you .... 🇬🇧

Hello from France !! Crash course ? maybe but Clear, simple and interesting video !! thanks a lot for your sharing 👌
you did some thing all the others don't, which is print it at the end. thanks you
Amazing video. Thanks for teaching me.
I really enjoyed this ! makes it look easy. I'm going to try F360 thanks to you/
outstanding video, exactly what I was looking for... keep it up!
13:00 instead of setting an angle constraint at 90deg, you can just set a perpendicular constraint
Thank you so much! Great tutorial!
I so want to give this more than one like. this is such a useful video of a new user like me.
Hey ! Excellent work and teaching, thank you.
Fantastic video, easy to follow along and breaking something which seems complex at first into easy to follow steps. Great work! +1 Subscriber ;)
Great video! I got everything aside from putting in the cross bar at 19:00 , I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I am on Windows.
This was a great tutorial and very easy to follow and understand! Thank you

Incredible video and love your work. Thank you for everything.
This was an amazing video, thank you
Thank you so much for this!
Really useful, thank you
I loved the SD Card Case...I don't have a printer neither I know How to do this 3D thing.- But Iwill buy one and learn it.
Great tutorial, a lot of stuff to learn from it. Thanks
Can you make a video.about pcb designing???, it will.be really helpfull
great introduction, thanks
Great video, bookmarked for future referenced.
Thanks, excellent video.
Excellent video and great teaching skills
Great video.
I want to learn more from your FUSION 360 videos.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!
Instant subscriber. Thank you!
The fillet function is very frustration. It is almost impossible to change fillets if you need to.
thanks homie, love your workshop, looking good
