Wow I started CAD drawing in high school and then went on to get a degree in music...so I hadn't messed around with my industrial arts side. We barely touched Auto CAD and mostly did work on John Apperson's CADSTD. I love the fact that the Autodesk company knows that there are hobbyists out there that do basic hobby works and cannot afford the same price as companies that can afford the program. This is the very heart and soul of being a maker and I salute you all. Thank you for being there for the big guys and us little guys (and gals too).

I happened to choose your three part beginner video when starting out in Fusion 360 over all the other channels available. I can’t imagine anyone else could have put together a better beginner tutorial and I feel no need to look elsewhere on TH-cam as I continue to learn this software. Over these three quick and concise videos I have gone from confused and frustrated to having a great grounding in the fundamentals of Fusion 360 and an appreciation of the power of parametric modelling. Thanks Lars

It is true that it is outdated, some name and menus has changed, but with a little bit intuitive exploring you will find the most of the functions used in the video. The version I'm using - 2.0.8412 on Windows 10 - doesn't have quite the same keystrokes, and this makes for some confusion, especially with Press Pull, where it appears you need to get into a kind of 3D view for it to work at all. In the upper left is a square that might say "TOP", and if you put your mouse in the cube and click+drag, you can change the perspective; then Q=Press Pull works as described.

Best tutorial I have seen. Amazing how much I learned in this short tutorial. I did 5 of the fusion360 tutorials and by the end was so confused I gave up because nothing worked and my settings were so screwed up it was beyond saving. I couldn´t make a box with rounded corners in over 3 hours using their tutorials. Altogether after almost 7 hours and 4 attempts and start overs I didn´t get as far as you just took me in 20 minutes and I actually understand what I did.
Even doing fusions own tutorials going step by step I end up lost because they don´t tell you what things do. They also assume you know what their terms and tiny symbols mean. Even just knowing you have to turn the lines from blue to black is not explained in their tutorials or what clicking those things does even though you use those relationship symbols in the tutorial. You just click buttons und hope you don´t accidentally click once to much because that will put it in the wrong one of 30 modes and you will never get back to the right place.

Newbie to Fusion 360 writing on 12/19/20. Helpful video, enjoy the slow pace. BUT... the video could use updating, because the menus and short cuts have changed in the past two years.
Although, having to search around to find the current location of the commands (particularly the shortcuts, which have changed) had its own value in familiarizing me with the menus and helping me find my way around.

What a great tutorial, I've been using Fusion360 for about 4 weeks and have watched other videos, sadly most of those whizz through so quickly that they're a waste of time. Yours is brilliant, very well explained and easy to follow, with some very useful tips. Thank you.

Devil is in the details and you did a great job. A lot of videos show how to do something but I love that you explain each tool and why we use that tool. This gives a deeper explanation and better reinforcement of certain practices.

This is really helpful. The only issue is, I'm using the 2021 version so a lot of commands are no longer in the same place. Either way, it's a great introduction.
Additional comment: I tried drawing a line from the bottom upwards and it won't let me. If I move up and to an angle, the line only moves along the base and there's no way I can change it to create an angle.

great tutorial man I am making the jump from tinker cad to this. I am going to print the box (I made it along with you.) Hi, Great videos! but I think I'm right in saying that the current version (Oct 2019) has a new UI interface and the 'Model' mode is now dead and 'Desgn' mode replaces it. Using the old functionality UI has also been removed. That in mind the vids are still relevant.

After a traumatic brain injury, I have had to re-evaluate a lot of my life. Though looking at a screen is not the best for me I am able to take breaks as needed which was one of my reasons for focusing to get into the world of 3D printing. Most information is boring and you make it fun. I also appreciate that it is not "too simplified" as this has encouraged me to explore the program a little more to fill in the few gaps that I needed more explanation on. In just 48 hours I went from yelling at the screen in frustration to creating the thing that was in my head, better than my mind could think of. Thank you for, as you said, filling in the gaps that most other tutorials leave out, and keeping the videos shorter for those that do not want a lecture, yet still want to learn. It made going back to some of the more boring videos better since what they under explain you got just right. Mainly, best practices. Using Components to separate sketches and bodies has made working with this program much better for me.

hi I am new to fusion 360 and having problems with the basics. when I set an offset in 2d it fully constrains (turns black), however if I extrude the object into 3d as lars did, when I select the plane, select create sketch, then offset, it does not fully constrain and stays blue, I would be greatful for your advice

This is the best video I've seen on the basics of Fusion 360! Subscribed.
I'm a Designer/Engineer and have had experience with computer software. However, the other people who have presented the basic training jump around or go through things assuming that someone is familiar with the software! Thanks, Lars!
BTW, are you originally from New England? Your accent sounds like Mass. or Rho-Disland.

Lars, I am a new comer to Fusion 360. Many years experience with Creo (Pro Engineer) but very little to Fusion 360. I have a start up question for you and in your beginner video you mention that in my Workspace it should say Model however my version says Design. Is this because it is a newer version or is there something more I need to do?

Maybe need to update your tutorial? As the UI seems to be very different from this today.
Top first menu; selected “Model” on mine it’s “Design”. Then the origin looks different and is turned, half the items in the “Sketch Pallet” are missing. Typing’S’ brings up Design shortcuts and a search for the same item did not work out. Will have to see how much else is different….
Great help so far, thx shame one can’t follow through.
