Between 60-70 million people speak the Amharic as their first language. Yes, ‘it’s the oldest continuously spoken Semitic language predating Arabic and Hebrew, 33 characters each having 7 variations based on vowel sounds.’ Very succinct description.

@@samuelbelay7251 you are missing the point!!! It is not about how it is educated or how literally developed. It is about how historically old and influential during the time of pharaohs!!!
Amharic is for sure spoken widely in Ethiopia but it is because at the cost of the other languages like Tigrigna which was deprived.
The Ethiopian feudals snd the rest dictators of Ethiopia deprived us to learn our beautiful languages. Amharic was an oppressing language that is why it is dominant now in Ethiopia!!!

@@asebawi Well I’m Amhara & I have Royal blood in me & your right we made a lot of mistakes here & there & I think everybody makes a mistake but at Least we created Ethiopia 🇪🇹 And when the scramble for Africa started & when every king & queens we’re selling there people & land We Defended our Motherland with Blood & sweat. We kept Ethiopia 🇪🇹 free from any conquering imperialist Weather it’s Ottoman Empire, the British Empire or the Fascist Italian Empire or any other who dared to try us. You should at least be grateful for that. Instead of hating us constantly with blind hatred. You know we weren’t always like this it’s that JUNTA TPLF that spewed all this Haterd amongst us backed by the western countries. They couldn’t defeat us in a war so they decided to divide us within & TPLF was there perfect instrument! It’s sad but it is what it is. But we are back now Abiy is ours he’s implementing our agenda & goal & that’s to make ETHIOPIA GREAT that’s all that matters. Oh I almost forgot the most important thing I AM so proud to be AMHARA & ETHIOPIAN! I’m so Proud of my Bloodline.

@@Modagne23 I don’t have any animosity towards AmHara people on contrary I love ‘em. My point is about the languages nothing else, reality is not what we have learned in the Ethiopian schools.
“AmHars” were once tigrigna speaking people but not the “Amharas”.
Amharic is now a diverse language, the whole Ethiopia and Eritrea speaks the language. But “amHaras “ are as Habesha as tigrigna speakers!!
It is not scientifically proven but tigrigna might be the language of the ancient Egyptians, the pharaohs!!!!

    A quick fact chack here,
Before the Amharic language, Ge'ez is the oldest language in Ethiopia.........in fact that language (Ge'ez) is the one believed to predate many of afro Asiatic languages in East africa and south Arabia. Amharic is the youngest, Especially when compared to Ge'ez.
The world should learn Amharic and Geez they and some other language are the key to unlock the secrets in ancient Ethiopian Books.
Ethiopia is full of amazing culture and languages! Leading Ethiopian languages would be valuable for the world!

Amharic language is Ethiopia's official language.
It traces its roots from the Aksumite Empire,
symbolizing historical significance and cultural heritage.
Serving as a lingua franca, it bridges diverse ethnic groups,
fostering harmony and communication across the nation.
Amharic came to be lingua franca or widely spoken in Ethiopia from 9th century
and became instrument of the state language since 14th century.
Amharic has a growing body of literature especially since the advent of the 20th century.
    (I got this from Google)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPLORATION AND INTRODUCTION -
Amharic is not only the Ethiopian national language, rich in unique literature
and in the HUMANITIES (including the EOC and philosophy) but also the African heritage and symbolic pride as well. Strangely enough, though, some creepy and disgruntled (minority-based politicians -the powers-to-be of the day) after the fall of the monarchy are trying to vitiate its aura and status by referring to it as mere
functional "lingua franca" in government jobs or even to replace it with fabricated pidgins rather than keeping it as the NATIONAL LANGUAGE of Ethiopia. Such forces are bent on disparagement of national unity and dismembering the territorial integrity of the country, incubating endless civil strife and disorder - that in view, they are doing everything they can to vandalize and destroy historical relics and cultural heritages, in the hope of rewriting history from the void! The current constitution, for example, bluntly declares that Ethiopia has no national language!! The Oromo renegades even ventured to introduce European alphabets to write in their language, (like the other nations of Africa which have lost their heritages and have been languishing under European colonialism), instead of using traditional/indigenous characters of their own as kept intact with rugged independence - the national language.

What I amazed from Amharic is stating a sentence from a single letter.
ና Na which mean come her. Here for the Amharic it used a single letter but for the English it took 8 character.

In previous studies Amharic dialects have been classified into five namely Gojjam, Gondar, Wollo, North Showa and Addis Ababa. The current study does not support such classification. Without any geographical barrier or distance, there would be great phonological, morphological and lexical variations. The case of Debark and Dembiya is an example for such incident. For example, substituting /kʼ/ by [tʃʼ] which is discussed as a feature of the whole Gojjam area does not cover even the whole east Gojjam. Although it is widely used in Sinan, Degasegnin and part of Bibugn areas, it rarely occurs in Debre Marikos area. Furthermore, it is absent in nearby districts like Debrework, Bichena, Mertolemariam, Mota and Innesesar midir. Areas like Amanuel, Denbecha and Feresbet of Gojjam, Debark and its neighboring areas of Gondar and some areas of south Wollo, despite the geographical barriers and inaccessible distance, mostly speak similar varieties. Similarly, most features that are found in Debark and Dabat areas of North Gondar are not found in other areas of North Gondar such as Koladiba and Alefatakusa. Varieties used in Southern Gondar are mostly similar to those used in north Wollo than those used in north Gondar. Similarly, varieties used in west of South Wollo especially Amhara Saint area are much similar to those used in North Shewa than those used in the areas of eastern South Wollo. Furthermore, except for the people who live in Dembecha and Feresbet, the West Gojjam dialect is similar to the Addis Ababa dialect. Also, the features which are typically known as Gojjam dialect in previous studies are found in Eastern Gojjam. In North Gondar, Debark, Dabat and Wogera have different phonological features from Koladiba, Alafatakusa, Chilga and Armachoho. Based on the current data, it is reasonable to group South Gondar with North Wollo, South Wollo with North Shewa. North Gondar shall be considered as a separate dialect. The Addis Ababa dialect, i.e. the standard dialect, which may comprise the varieties spoken in various cities throughout the country should be considered as a distinct dialect. East Gojjam and the varieties spoken in Dembecha and Feresbet can be categorized as a single but separate dialect from the others. The latter two are located in West Gojjam. With the exception of those two locations, the variety spoken in West Gojjam is mostly similar to the Addis Ababa one previous studies, Amharic dialects have been classified into five namely, Gojjam, Gondar, Wollo, North Showa and Addis Ababa. Amharic was initially developed as a language primarily for military communication or as a form of military code. It was later adopted as the official language after being introduced into the palace during that time. However, afan oromo is the third largest language in africa 🌍. It is spoken by over 60 million people, including Uganda, Tanzania,Kenya, and more neighbour countries in africa.
