- Thirteenth project in a series using 2 1/2 inch strips to make scrappy quilts! This block uses just squares and strip sets to make an easy block starting with a partial seam! Sounds hard but it is actually very easy! Make as many blocks as you need to get the size quilt you want! Start with squares of any size and add a jelly roll or just pick leftover 2 1/2 inch strips in two different colors!
You will see one version made with a patriotic panel and overall print with a blue jelly roll and a red jelly roll. The jelly rolls were ones I made myself by sewing scraps end to end and rolling it up myself. The second version you will see is (of course) a halloween version that is a little wonky! I love it! This was a very fun block idea to play with and has lots of possibilities! Have fun trying it out and playing with the idea!

Stay to the end to see the finished quilts, fronts and backs.
There is also an update on the 2 1/2 inch scrap bucket situation!
I've challenged myself to do a new project each month using only 2 1/2 inch strips from my scrap buckets. I have always saved leftover strips from projects and cut up small leftover fabric from yardage into 2 1/2 inch strips and put them in a bucket for some "future" project . The future is now! It is time to tame the scrap bucket and use up these strips. I'll always have a scrap bucket of strips because I'm constantly adding to it but I want to get it down to just ONE bucket instead of three...make that seven after the "GREAT SORTING"! This series will last until I'm down to one bucket. Let's be honest, it will take at least 2 years to use up enough strips to make a difference! So join me on this project adventure to use up fabric scraps!
If you don't have leftover strips from other projects to make scrappy quilts, cut up fabrics in your stash into 2 1/2" strips to make the project. No stash of fabric? Head to your local quilt shop and buy a jelly roll or some very pretty fabric to cut into strips! Shop owners are more than happy to help you find the perfect fabric, don't be shy, ask for help if you need it!
Consider joining our Facebook group called "The Quilted Forest Friends". This is the only place you'll have access to exclusive free quilt patterns used in some of our other video projects. It's also lots of fun for members to share their project updates. Here's a link to the group:

I watched all jelly roll (2.5-inch strips) videos like a marathon. It took 2 days. I finally got to the last ( hopefully not last).
I look forward to more videos.
Love the quilts. A great idea to make a long jelly roll roll up. I could see that being a good thing to do. I have some 6 inch panel squares that will be great with this. Thank you
Nice quilts. I really like how you come up with so many ideas for using 2.5” strips. Thank you!!!
I think your quilt came out beautiful. I like patriotic theme and how you did it scrappy too.❤
This could be really great for a charm pack as well!
That's a great way, I really like your way of rolling them back up and using them that way. It's a great pattern and easy to do. Thank you!❤😊
Love the video. Thanks. This scrappy block will be great for the donation quilts I make.

I was so glad that you videoed another 2.5" strip project. I have really enjoyed all of your videos - - it is a toss-up between your presentation style and just the excitement of a new plan.

I have purchased multiples of the Stonehenge Label Panel and use the more open squares for Patriotic Quilt labels, but have been accumulating the other blocks thinking I would stumble across an idea for using them all - and today I did! Thank you for the reminder on how easy it is to do partial seams and the great tutorial. I will be doing this, for sure! Love all your 2.5” strip and 5” square use your scraps videos. They are well thought out and easy to follow. Thank you!

Much Inspiration for scrap fabrics.
How unique these quilts are! As you started out making the blocks it seemed to me quite involved, I wasn’t sure I could accomplish this pattern. As your video progressed with this method of making blocks I understood better and all made sense of your pattern,,,, ding, ding, ding! In the end I found your directions complete and easy to follow. You’re amazingly competent in all of your videos and we learn so much from you. Thank you!

Another timely video. I am working through my 1 1/2 inch scrap box and have a few rolls of scraps sewn, so I will be using these for the outer strip sets. I think centers will just be a neutral cream. Thanks for another great idea.
