Editing feels much more focused like the older vids. Very nice!
exactly what I was thinking
clearly not just editing but update of recent situations
This must have disappointed people who liked watching fast cuts of a hipster using highlighters on printed paper, scrolling through news articles with a constant frown, pacing around in his messy house, and using incredibly condescending language
Yes
I agree. I love this guys videos, but I kinda hate when he integrates clips of himself in it. I feel like when he does that it takes away from the topic and distracts the viewer. This video was great.
Finally Yemen, nobody talks about what is happening there!
And if people do talk, what will happen? 🤡
Is it sadly true, my friend...
I don't know about you but the media that I see for the last 7 years did shut up about yemen
@@abbasshachem3383 yes, I did mean the same thing.
No one talks about Venezuela too.. Anyway, very sad places in our world...
As a Yemeni, I gotta say that this is one the best narrations of events of the war in Yemen.
Thanks Johnny for making this video to inform people around the world about what is going on in my home.
bro are you okay? are you still in Yemen or out?
I disagree! Lots of misinformation.
@samadam7553 Comments like this are unhelpful. If you think there's misinformation then point it out for the rest of us...
@@samadam7553 Yes there is misinformation and a lot of naïve takes. But mostly correct.
Thankyou for your incredibly well thought out and productive contribution to this conversation, @@samadam7553
Oh yeman is a good people 😢 and beautiful🇸🇴❤️ 🇾🇪
Im really glad the editing of this video was done in the old style. It's more respectful and doesnt distract from the actual topic. The gravity of these conflicts does not mix well with fast cuts and interlaced clips of you doing the actual research. Thank you!
No one really cares because no jews are involved.
The antisemits don't protest the millions dead in Yemen, but why? Iran does fund those protests
Yesss - less casey neistat style ;)
I like those style videos too though. Just differs based on the topic imo.
+1 on this, this is the best Yemen explainer I've seen. I'm very happy it was done at a nice slow pace with graphics, it really gives your brain time to absorb the complexity.
Man, as a Yemeni I have been waiting too long for this, happy to see someone explaining what's going on in here, it's complicated to understand even for Yemenies ourselves
Sorry for what is happening to your country, mine've been through similar..
Would you say this is all as presented in the video, is it true?
@@dredeth It's getting rolled over by Saudi and Iranian influence. Particularly by Saudi
@@dredethit is indeed factual, but as long as you talk about Yemen's conflict everyone will have bias, even Yemenis themselves lol
@@dredeth You do notice Johnny does occasionally place his liberal world view into his critiques of certain groups and situations, but that's unlikely to be helped
@@darwinsdiabolics yeah, that is why I keep my skepticism on everything I hear on internet.
I'm also aware of his subtle psychological games when he talks, implanting tiny seeds into more gullible people's brains. Like stating some allegations as proven facts. People fall for that, especially those who come for a confirmation of their previously established beliefs.
Thank you johnny, i have been waiting for years for this episode.
Thanks from Yemen.
Gorgeous presentation with beautiful storytelling. The map and other indicators (connecting lines, dots and legends) provide so much context to the whole conflict.
I absolutely love watching your videos as I am very much interested in geo-political issues and I can say nobody explains such issues better than you. Your honest, objective and truthful journalistic approach helps to view the story from all sides without any confirmation bias. I really appreciate this.

@@web30web im interested to know which parts r false???
@@trapster1483 I will give you one hint, the rest you should be able to find if you only use common sense.
As we know, confirmed by H-illary and W-leaks those 2 T groups (shown in the video) are funded, trained and armed by U$RAEL and used to create chaos in the region. He says U$ troops in Saudi was fighting those 2 groups (also in Yemen) it's only one from many other false or incomplete statements in the video.
Now start doing your own re-search and don't expect others to provide it.
@@trapster1483 he omitted many reasons for the conflict including the Saudis early on with their anti shia stance building sunni mosques in areas where there were no sunnis and paying tribes to change their sect to align with the saudis's wahabism. It's also omitted that the saudi proposal to replace the president saleh by his corrupt vice president was a saudi attempt to thwart the 2011 "revolution". the guy was supposed to be an intermittent president for 2 years in which there was a national dialogue to establish the new constitution etc, and the saudis helped prolong his reign for another year in which gas prices were raised and that was one of the drives for the houthi takeover. it's also been omitted that while the saudi war against yemen started in 2015, their puppet president of yemen has been living in saudi arabia only appearing to read whatever the saudis agree or promote him to say and using him to legitimise their war against yemen. there's so much more omissions that his feels like it was also sponsored by the gulf stats including the saudis.
I had my first model united nations back when i was 12, and i remember getting Yemen for my delegacy. I was a kid, and researching for the event, i made a 30-40 page doc, encapsulating the complete takover of the houthis in the region, the refugwe crisis with saudi arabia not accepting yemenese refugees, and it being another Syria like situation. It was my first such experience with international affairs and i was left astounded as to how a country suffering through so much, can have negligible media presence given their plight. I felt weird how something so big was happening and no one genuinely gave a damn, and i wouldn't have known this either, if i hadnt specifically gone looking for it. I have had a few experience with these model united nations, later preferring to chose less promiment countries, simply so i could know the world outside the far west, and far east. many years later, nothing has changed, and i hope this channel can also increase the searching aptitude of the new generation, and informing them about the world's ignored places
The problem is incentive. I have to build motivation to search for information on these horrific wars. When news media is bogged down with random cultural disagreements, I lose motivation. So I end up losing sight of the more important things
such the same way i found out about Palestine, the situation wasn't that popular in India and there wasn't much awareness
@lovxshua I remember writing about Palestine when Obama was President and it wasn’t a popular thing to do. Everyone thought I was being a “keyboard warrior,” but I was just another American not wanting to buy into believing our government was so peaceful because Obama was President. Even Obama kept close alliance with Netanyahu.
@@basicallyno1722 not only Obama but all us presidents, there will be no president of us that would support Palestine, never. its because they two are super connected, even if the people if us disagree, the government wont. even if we see disagreement between us and isreal, we know its fake, temporary, or ridiculous.
Well? How'd you do? I imagine your teachers were pretty blown away by a 12 year old writing and dissecting 30-40 pages of dense political intricacies that even adults struggle to fully understand!
As a Yemeni, I will say this even if it goes against your narrative. Every country has the right to get rid of foreign powers from controlling their land.
We don’t hate anyone even Americans, but we hate their government politics in the world from Haiti to Palestine to Congo.
Thank you for explaining all this. Being informed helps to make a difference.
I'm from Yemen originally. I just want a united democratic Yemen, that allows everybody to live in peace. Peace, Love and prosperity.
Same here in somalia 😢
A democratic Yemen would probably vote Islamist like you saw in Gaza.
You don't just need a democratic system, you also need democratic voters.
The Houthi will coerce and bully the people to vote for them anyway so why bother with democracy?
@@fwagenknecht yeah like some people vote aparthie d state
@@fwagenknecht so basically, voters are only democratic when they vote according to a western worldview, aight
That’s what I’m talking about.
This is one of those good old Johnny Harris geopolitical vids.
Please do more of these.
Yeah this was disappointing actually- his sources include the NYTimes and mainstream outlets. Key elements missing, like 85000 Yemeni children under the age of 5 starved to death by Saudi Arabia while the US didn’t lift a finger.
Thank you very much for informing us on what is going on, you’re in my top three youtube channels to watch on youtube, i stop whatever im doing and begin your latest video every time its uploaded.
This is a incredibly captivating video as always
Another great video, love the outstanding level of detail. Thank you for your time!
Great video Johnny, the crisis in Yemen does not get much media coverage in recent times and it's nice to see you making a video to remind and educate people on this subject
Because its largely ended. Houthis won and have consolidated power
Not sure what we came away from it with though...
There's no obvious solution. At most, this can be left along and it may eventually stabilize.
Although, the Houthis still being controlled by Iran kinda makes this situation a problem - where you almost can't just let them have peace.
We need more civilian populations to be empowered to revolt against their oppressors.
Because it’s too complex for mainstream media.
it is because the Western media are in bed with saudis and US who are directly involved in the conflict. saudi money and US influence over Western media supress media coverage. think about it
@@Leto2ndAtreides i mean the houthis were the ones who revolted against an oppressive, corrupt "democracy"
here from Yemen, thank you for making this video ❤️
Mind Begs the Question:
- USA Govt installed Shah on Iran
- USA/West don't install Dictators
- On Other/Islamic Nations
- To Control them by Proxy?
As a person living in Yemen, what's your opinion on all that's going on?
Whome do you support your current government or Houthi? And what's the current status nowadays?
@@Ferelmakina i don’t live there anymore i traveled back in 2021 as there is no good in building a life and a future there.
by my opinion is that all the parts involved in this are just viscous, greedy people who are only looking to get in power without thinking of what happens to the Yemeni people.
even the Yemeni gov, everyone just wants their piece of the cake.
@@akashchhetri007 i support neither, they are both fucking corrupt to the bones, and what they say they are doing is completely the opposite of what they are actually doing. whoever takes the power will just steel as much money as they can without actually doing anything to improve the situation, stop the war, or fix the country’s economy.

Thank you for sharing ❤️
At least now you've realized that you and your people fought for elites ....
You're not defending murica in middle east
You only lost because the government allowed these anti western ideologies to just cross into the usa anyway you're lucky it's a minority for now

Thanks for the video. Amazing job
Dude. This was so informative. Thank you for making all the senselessness make sense.
Thank you, Johnny. Quality informative video as usual 👍
So often Yemen in news but without any context. Enlightening!
Remember context can be biased too.
20:10 Here for example he implies global economy is at risk, and fails to mention that all targets are ships getting cargo to Israel, no chinese russian or any other neutral country is attacked.
It is clearly declared by Anshrala (houtis for western media) that this is a blockad in protest against WC in Gaza
This is not a thread to global economy. They document all their targets and have video proof. too.
The US UK and co are super quick to fight against a war torn poorest country in the world when they dare to interfere on commerce, but they do nothing when gaza is burning in flames because of an ally doing ethinic cleansing.
@@marcelo55869 True, but if it is at least we have something to anchor the new perspective onto! So I call that a win!
Considering which demographic/ideology runs the entirety of our Western media, it’s not surprising. It’s by design.
What context? They literally have "curse the Jews" on the flag. The Houthis are objectively evil and supported by the evil Iranian regime. US foreign policy and Israel being evil too doesn't change that fact.
Great video! I am a little confused though, because you said that Saudi Arabia attacked Yemen first, but then you kept on saying Yemen was attacking Saudi for Iran. If Saudi attacked Yemen first wouldn’t their attacks on Saudi just be a response to Saudi Arabia’s invasion rather than doing the bidding for Iran?
Johnny I appreciate your artistic ability to tell stories through maps and the different ways you express plot and timeline.
Comments such as "I like this video because it's like the old ones" stifle growth and innovation.
Thanks for pushing boundaries with information and visual mediums.
This video did an excellent job of explaining the conflict. Thank you for presenting this in an easy-to-follow format.
He conveniently leaves out how much money Obama gave to Iran which in turn is funding these terrorists
I like this style of your videos that just focus on the explaining/geopolitics. These are the types of videos I subscribed for. The recent ones that are more about showing the process side of searching for answers (Like your Gulnara Karimova video or the Merchants of Death editing style) are still fun but not as fun to watch for me. Thank you for producing content!

As Yemeni living in Yemen under the control of Houthies, I thank you so much for putting the effort to mention the deep roots behind the war in my country.
Houthies are brutal, they claim that they're fighting the west but they're actually fighting civilians all the time.
Sounds like they are fighting there own thoughts and ideas on how to even live a life at this point. Love it how Iraq is portrayed as a bad guy, fighting ‘proxy war’ through others, while the US does exactly the same hing, but it is called something like, ‘Supporting strategic partners’
Except it isn't the same thing. Iran, not Iraq, was accurately described as providing weapons, training, and funding to a violent Islamic fundamentalist cult in the hopes of gaining greater influence over Yemen. The US was just selling weapons to Saudi Arabia. One is a case of imperialist interference in another country's civil war, the other is a business transaction.

I totally agree but the only thing is, and this is just my opinion but this is all started because of some peoples very personal religious beliefs, and of course maybe it wasn’t taken into consideration some may not want to follow that certain religion.
