In this video tutorial, I show step-by-step how to work an afterthought heel using waste yarn on a sock knit using magic loop. The techniques shown in this video can be applied to a sock knit cuff down or toe up. The free PDF pattern provided below gives the recipe so that you can customize this heel to the number of stitches your socks have.

That was very clear - my pattern assumes I know this already. Your delivery is succinct, no waffle, so will come back. I have subscribed! 😊

Would it be possible to use the round toe technique on the heel to make a more rounded heel?

What knitting needles do you use? Brand and size, please? Thanks!

Lykke Size US 0 - I have both the 40” cord and the ones with 47” cord - both great!

@@KnittingHouseSquare oh I like the Lyke needles(I even have some in crochet hooks and they’re fab!) , and I use them for certain yarns, but I haven’t tried them for socks yet, I have Chiaogoo needles and usually like to use the 9” circs, but lately I’ve been using the 32” or 40” circs AND doing more toe up…definitely new methods for me. I started with DPN’s…talk about fidgety! Lol! I’ve come a long way since then! I love watching your videos. You do an amazing job explaining clearly how to get the best results! Thank you!
