Love the "why" explanation, we don't have to just blindly copy you, we now understand the why and what of your method. Thanx so much, brilliant and generous of you.

Better than randomly selecting stitches, easy to follow. Thanks.

Yes, Brilliant! This is exactly what I needed to know. You show it the best of any I have watched, and your presentation is easy on both eyes and ears. Thanks so much!

Thank-you I can finally knit my afterthought heel without the gap! Nothing I did worked until this tutorial.
    Happy knitting.

This is by far the best way to prevent gaps. I started to make the heel and "sort of" picked up stitches your way but it didn't work so I ripped out 3/4 inches of heel that I had worked and started over with your way exactly how you do it. I can't believe how pretty and clean it looks. I am doing TAAT so I had to work it a little differently but I love the way it tightens everything up. Thanks for taking the time to show this.

Brilliant!! Knit my first sock and even though I picked up four stitches, I got a hole because I picked them up randomly. I will now knit my second sock following your instructions. Thanks a lot!!!

I like your video I'm glad that you used pink yarn so that we could tell on your demonstration on were to put the needle and how to close the gaps in your socks.

you can also not go all the way to the end of the waste yarn, you can just take out upto the last two stickes that way you do not get that whole on the side. this is how Cat Bordhi showed how to do it, check it out. I like the way you show how to knit sock

This is a great tutorial! Would you consider making it again in either worsted, or even better bulky, so we can really see what you are doing?

Yeah! Because of the problems with the hole at the beginning I stopped doing this kind of heel. Now I will begin using it again and making socks a bit faster!

Thanks for the tips. Can you do wraps and turns or german short rows for the afterthought heel?

  • @nashrunner456

I’ve tried this and I like the idea. It works and should be easy to remember. Just an thought: for afterthought heel, have you tried joining in at the center underside of the foot rather than at one of the corners? I’m much more successful joining this way. Thanks.

Thanks! On my third pair or short rows and was trying to figure out how to sole this plm. I did, but yours seems more stable than mine.

I’v been searching for some info on tightening this hole, unfortunately youtube knitters seem to not get their knitting on the screen or in focus. I can hardly see a thing.

Like the instruction but knitting a couple of rounds would have been the best visual.
