Just a thought. I figure in 10% negative ease in my socks. Socks tend to stretch with wear. This way they don’t get to sloppy. My foot measures 10” so I make my foot 9” total.
Why not simplify and subtract 1.75 only once; then measure the length of you foot minus 1.76 from the tip of the sock's toe to heel placement. One less calculation.
I wish you would of put the finished sock on your husband or someone to see the results. Nobody who demonstrates this after thought technique seems to want to do that.

I bought the U shaped needles, would circular needles be better?
