The Smiler is amazing, i went on it twice xD best ride at Alton Towers now! Such a shame for those innocent people, must of been having fun on it before the crash :/
Went on this today! Fantastic addition to an already great collection of coasters. I was unnerved looking at it and the 90 degree lift element. But glad I took the plunge, what an experience of intense twists, loops and speed. Was impressed how much they crammed into such a small space, over a kilometre of stuff!
I went on this ride in 2014 and I have to say it was without a doubt the most crazy ride I have ever been on. Lee Lipscombe I did not know that. Human error or not though it still should not run if there is a non moving car on the tracks. That would seem like the first thing the automatic safety system, sould pick up on. Confidence not restored if you ask me.

+lily anne Get your facts right before you come to stupid conclusions which have been engineered by the media. He wasn't on his phone, and he would have seen the safety warnings. The ride automatically came to a stop at the top of the lift, but he and a few others misunderstood the warning, and sent the car forward which resulted in the crash...
Then they mess with your brain even more when you're existing with those steps with swirls on, I was thinking "fuck, all I want to do is leave, and I can't even do that easily!"
Aso Paso Only 1. Plus now that they actually got an understanding on how bad this can get. They should be doing all they can to fix every single problem.

Finally got to go on this yesterday. We queued for almost 90 minutes in torrential rain on a Wednesday! I dread to think what the queues are like on a weekend during the school holidays! All I can say though is that it was actually worth it. Brilliant ride, doesn't let up from the moment you leave the station into the surprisingly big dip.
***** Yeah we always go midweek when the kids are hopefully at school. We're going this Wednesday to try the smiler. Last time we went on a Tuesday and barely waited in a single line for anything, Did Nemesis 6 times in a row as we were just walking straight on. I think we left about 4pm because we'd got more than our moneys worth by then...
thanks guys appantly when the ride is fished your not normal like you keep laughing and acting loopy cuz of the laughing gas is that true? if yh that be soo cooll!!!
Just to update, we went yesterday, a Wednesday while the kids were at school and it was heavy rain all day.... the smiler queue was 75mins! Still, it's an Awesome experience, well worth the wait. It certainly lives up to its name.
saying its the worlds first 14 looping coaster is a bit ambiguous, it may make me seem weird, but in my head i unleash a total shitstorm on people when they say worlds first "14 looping" like this comment if you share my opinion, although it is unlikely that you do.
I went to Alton towers with school for scarefest and rode it twice! I rode it once in the dark! it is the first proper roller coaster i have ever been on and it was the most amazing thing ever! I LOVED IT!!!
I honestly love rides however, I always get worried that I'll be sick on a ride.I loved air but it only has 2 inversions. Will a ride like this make me puke.
We went at the very end of the day , 20 minutes - just a tip if your going , go to 13,and Rita first as they're the furthest away and slowly work your way down the park - I go all the time to alton towers because it's not far away
Rita is my favourite - yeah 13 I was so scared I hate the drop at the start - guess what ? Rita was my FIRST ever rollercoasters ahaha - no the smiler isn't
No, i mean the rides themselves can only be upto a certain height, too low for a really good drop. The boring locals dont want the rides to be seen outside of the park, and also why the rides are greeny so it blends in.
I loved the Smiler. We had to wait like an hour in line (which was probably our fault, because it was the last day of the school holidays so the world and his wife, and their kids, were there) but it was completely worth it. Terrifying, brilliant and it gives you such an adrenaline rush. And even in the queue, you're not that bored - they have creepy music and sound effects playing constantly, like laughs and screams, and they show you weird stuff on the screens as well, like people that have been on the Smiler and now smile constantly. Scary, but it just made you more excited to go on. Even the guy who stored our bags and coats was creepy. We went to get our stuff back, and he had this big grin on his face. He gave us our stuff back and as we were walking out, he opens the door and yells "bye bye!" and laughs evilly. We bolted for the exit, laughing our heads off. Such a wonderful and thrilling experience. I'd recommend it to all.
I've been going to Alton Towers since I was a little kid, and I absolutely LOVE it! Me and Alton Towers is how Disney kids are with any of the Disney Parks 😁
This ride is insane! wen't on it yesterday and didn't even have to queue! Thank god for fast tracks! I definitely recommend going on this its amazing! and I suggest getting a fast track me and mt friends literally walked straight onto the ride! had an awesome day!
Went on this today for the first time on the front row and I can tell you from personal experience.. This is not slow, nor boring. xD! It was the last coaster I went on and came off feeling pretty dizzy and rushed, adrenaline rush was fantastic. Great ride in my honest opinion :D
I remember queuing for three hours to get onto it for the first time 3 years ago! That part sucked but I got onto it I loved it so much. I rode it a month after the opening and it was the best (and still probably is) ride I'd been on.
Went on this yesterday with my daughter! Wow! Incredible ride. Recommended! BTW we bought fast pass tickets just for this ride @£10 each not cheap, but worth it, as the queues where at least 90 mins and we got to go straight on!
I never got to go on this ride yesterday and I was really looking foward too it. We'd waited 2 hours 45 minutes and we were near the front when the ride closed. I was so angry. It looks amazing. Hopefully, I will be able to go on it in October when I go back to Alton towers!
The ride closed? For what reason? Few people know that the stated closing time is for the queue, not the ride itself. If you're in there by 5pm, you can still ride it. They just stop people joing the queue at that time.

I went on it on Monday, best ride in Alton Towers hands down. It was worth the 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting time. A woman sitting in front of me threw up, luckily it missed me haha.
I went on it for the first time on Friday 25th for the scarefest. We queued over two hours and it was dark by time we got on! We sat front row and it was awesome! So worth the wait!!
I went on this ride today twice. First queue was only 15 minutes but when we went on later it was an hour and a half. Worth it though; the whole theme was really unnerving and rather clever and the ride itself was thrilling. I belong to The Smiler now :)
When I went to Alton Towers I was waiting for nearly 3 hours to get onto this ride .. (there were some technical difficulties). When I got on it was pretty awesome though :)
Went on this today and waited 3 hours even though the queue time said 120 minutes but this ride was one of the best intense rollercoaster I have ever been on It doesn't stop until halfway then you have a 20 second break then straight into action again well worth the wait :)

George Willett Well if you search into it the people who were controlling the ride got fired because they didn't send the other cart back.

summary:- the length and speed of the ride makes this ride the most intense and will definately rattle your brain. 9/10.
I couldn't wait until i got on this one, straight away at 10am i ran to this and jumped on :-) It's not bad at all! Fantastic ride! I recommend everyone to try it out :-) Just get there as soon as it opens, so you don't need to queue long :-) First i queued for 20minutes, some people had to 2-3h... and the second time only 2minutes because my dad is disabled (eyes) :-) But it was very fun, it wasn't bad AT ALL!
I waited 2 and a Half hours to go on this ride and it was so totally worth it!!!!!!!!! BEST RIDE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
