From unlocking bootloader to installing this custom ROM, worth it to follow your tutorial, big thanks to you bro. I hoped you can test another ROM for better battery life or performance.
QUICK REMINDER TO THOSE WHO WILL TRY TO INSTALL THIS: Once you've booted to Ricedroid OS. NEVER EVER CHANGE YOUR SCREEN RESOLUTION FROM 1440p to 1080p. Such a large hassle to fix that @Btech94 didn't mention in the video. Overall, this OS is awesome, aside from the battery drain due to being in 1440p all the time. (LG v50 thinQ KT variant user here)
Thanks for the reminder. Have you received any updates? On my device it says update available but when checking for an update it failed because of connection issues. Do you know how to fix this? or how to get an update patch for manual update?
hi, any method to save the system? i happened to change the display from 1440 to 1080 and it not boot to system after i did factory reset in the recovery.
@@thomasmiao8182 I think you have to flash OG boot.img and redo the ROM installation process again, that's my guess.
@@nathanel7637 sorry for the late reply. I've since set mine back to the Stock OS, so I've never updated it. If I recall correctly though, I couldn't find this specific OS page on XDA forums for the LG v50 thinq. My advice would be to turn your phone back into stock or look for an OS that still gets regularly updated on the XDA forums page.

gotta say, thank you so much for the series guide ! followed with a korean v50 in kt.
Only thing missing from this video is that to flash ricedroid/gapps, you need to go back to the b slot for it to flash properly. in my case i also had to flash it again in the lineageos recovery that installed with the zip.
Rice droid has all the core Gapps(play services). Rest you can download from play store. There is no compatibility issue.
riceDroid comes in 3 "flavors" (vanilla, core, pixel) : this is the "pixel" version which is the most complete with gapps and other google stuff ...
i've installed this custom rom and safety net check not passed, its only cts profile match fail others pass, what should i do to pass the safety net check?

the rom is ok but the default music player does not support dsd hires playback anymore while stock lg music does suport dsd playback.
When trying to go to download mode nor recovery mode it doesn't enter into twrp again instead it shows a red case error please what can I do to solve this.I need to go back to stock rom please
v50 can't touch recovery mode? My v50s on android 12/14 can be touched in the recovery mode.. most custom roms can all be touched using the screen..
I have LG V50 with android 12, When I'm in twrp, there is that error "unable to mount storage" that block me, I can't do anything

hey, I need help. So I managed to follow through with the steps, now my lg v50 thinq boots into ricedroid but it has no wifi, says there's an internal problem with android. Thing is, I forgot to reinstall twrp recovery, and I can't go into fastboot too since I can't get to EDL mode following the hardkey press from the other videos
nvm. I managed to fix it via payload dumping the ricedroid zip and using qfil to image load each and everything i got from the payload to their corresponding files in the partition manager. for peeps who can't get into EDL mode, you can try it by holding down vol up and down and power then as soon as the screen goes black, connect your type c cable while still holding on those buttons.
(assuming you already have the necessary drivers installed).

Im sorry i delete my comment a lot but you thanks for your three part guide on LG V50. I do not know what i did wrong but after wiping data using TWRP i cannot find the rom so i have no OS. i managed to flash stock image tho so i have to do this procedure twice XD
yeah I had the same problem, I put the ROM on an USB memory key and then the USB memory key and the mouse on an USB c hub and I could find the ROM !
@@pierro78 i thinks its because of the storage is locked . i can't unlock it still so i use TWRP sideload to install the ROM.

I was so happy when i successfully did it. I tried to change the resolution from 1440 to 1080 and the screen goes black. The phone is working but i don't know how to format it, i tried to restart it but it is the same.
You can force restart the phone by holding volume up down keys and power key. Soon as screen go black hold the volume down button and connect the USB to the pc. This will open up recovery menu. From here just as previously you can select recovery menu and open TWRP. Flash the ROM again from twrp.
PS :- changing resolution won't work properly. But you can touch the point while screen splashes. If you're able to touch it on screen resolution you can changer the resolution without a hassle.
@@Btech94 it's hard to Shutdown this phone because the screen is Black(no display) and the touch is not normal. it vibrate when i touch the screen,luckily i manage to shutdown this by pressing randomly. While in shutdown I did hold pressing the volume down button for 5 to 10 secs and plug the USB c but the recovery mode won't appear, charging and LG logo only.
Is it possible to fix this? I plan to fix this to technicians because im running out of ideas.

@@PointZero888 turn on the phone and hold down power key + vol up key and vol down key for 10 seconds. This will force reboot the phone. Soon as screen goes black release all the keys and hold vol down and plugging the type c. You have to do this soon as screen go black(or phone vibrates when rebooting). Then you can enter recovery mode. If it still doesn't show up you can enter EDL mode(it works anywhere) and replace the custom abl_a file to get the recovery mode back.
@@Btech94 its so difficult! I don't know if the phone is restarting because its no display all the screen is blank and the vibration is not working, so is really hard to guess its restarting or not.

try installing magisk v23.00 instead of 25.2, my audio stopped working cause of that for some reason.

@@RoccoMcGrath id just go back to stock then, these roms are mostly made for korea v50 since these are the most used ones and can have some glitches on other versions

Yeah. No root needed after flashing TWRP. But one thing i forgot to mention that after installing a custom rom you need to flash twrp again.

Oh seems like you have wipe the entire system. You can use qfil and extract the IMEI from another device. Then edit it via IMEI editor to your original IMEI and replace it via qfil.
if i root my Lgv50 will the battery problem will be solve? i buy this 2 days ago as my second phone but the battery acting like insane for like 2 mins battery goes down from 100% to 72% and so on
I can't be sure of that if it's a hardware problem. Normally i got 6+ hrs of screen on time with moderate use with stock firmware. And it's same on the custom firmware as well. First update the phones stock software to latest update and reset the device. If the battery still drains like you've mentioned it might be hardware issue. You can checkout the custom firmware nonetheless.

I liked this riceDroid ROM a lot but the AOD clock seems to be stuck ... I am now trying PixelExperience_Plus_flashlmdd-13.0-20230110-0752-UNOFFICIAL and the AOD clock seems to work fine !
PS : the AOD clock works fine but it was too dim ... I then discovered that the "always on amoled" app can be activated only when charging and it's brighter (I find it a bit cumbersome to unlock my phone when this app is active and I wanted AOD mainly when I put my phone on my wireless charger ... so the app is fine this way as it's desactivated when I take my phone off the charger ...)
maybe I could have kept riceDroid (it has some features I like (like battery percentage in status bar or wattage indication when charging)) but PE Plus seems to be good enough and the "real full screen app" setting is working with Kiwi Browser ...
