I'm a simple man, tofer makes a long format about a handheld crafted from a console from my childhood and I want to watch it and discover any and all secrets.
Also! My friend, have you seen the saroo saturn portable console making its rounds on youtube? It seems like it's intended to hse a saroo cartridge to play the games from, but I'm fairly convinced that dr.mod could just make a better version that doesnt require the cart, it does have ports for controllers instead of being a handheld device. Looks like an awesome mini laptop

@@tofer.A both would be fantastic! Macho nacho productions also showed a video of an italian modder who made a portable ps4. In no way is it easy, but its functional which is AMAZING given the limited field it exists in. Again not handheld yet, but a portable version of last gen gaming
The saroo is what makes loading games from sd cards easy and affordable on the Saturn. There are other methods but they are either way more expensive, unreliable, or use a controller port. The main issue with making any console portable is trimming the board small enough to work and remain functional.
I've been looking forward to you making this video after watching your handheld Dreamcast one. We're on the same page when it comes to that Wavebird controller, man. 10/10 perfection when it comes to ergonomics.
You didn't mention how much it cost though. I really would like a handheld GameCube and now I know it is actually a handheld Wii, I think I want one even more for some reason. Wii consoles are very cheap on the second hand market at the moment and I have access to a 3D printer as well, so maybe, if the thing is too expensive to buy outright, I could have a pop at making one myself! Anyway, good video and enjoy playing Wind Waker in bed! 😁👍
My friend windwaker and eternal darkness in bed is WHY I wanted this. Unlike the Dreamcast, though this one seems to have a very widespread when it comes to cost online overall I spent about $500 on this one, but I see them as low as 250 and I’ve also seen kits for even less than that. If you search yoshida they have a full breakdown on how to build it.

I feel like microsoft improved on the wave bird so imo the xbox has the best controllers ever. But def gotta give credit to the wave bird. Im sure thats where they got inspiration.
I know you cant say much in terms of "Backups". I am interested in doing these mods on myself as I have several of these older consoles and handhelds around. I am trying to determine best approach in terms of SD card size. Im torn between full libraries and Curated sets. Id be interested in how you or Dr mod approached this and your decisions on storage size

For a purest standpoint native hardware is great, but with something like an Odin 2 you can play ALL PS2 and Gamecube games WITH HD texture packs so you actually can make your own "Eternal Darkness HD Remaster" .. it literally drag and drop easy... it's been great playing through all the PS2 and GameCube games with all the bells and whistles like widescreen support and HD texture packs... and the battery life is awesome, with PS2/Gamecube its like 12+ hours of screen on time, something like GBA I was able to get 24Hrs, The Odin 2 can also play Switch games😉😉 ...
Also you can use the Odin 2 for game streaming from your own console or Steam.. If you use Steam IN HOME STREAMING because it's on the LAN and not the internet there is ZERO LAG...
I just check Your channel and you have nothing by AYN, like the Odin 2 or Odin 2 Mini.... shame shame...

No AV out is a deal breaker for me. I have a Switch and have only played it in hand held mode a few times. The screen is just too tiny to play most games, and I expect id feel the same way about this device
Totally understandable. I personally play everything handheld and have only docked my switch a few times 😂

Stick to youtube shorts. You keep repeating yourself over and over again to seemingly stretch out the video. You could have said everything you needed to say about this handheld in a 45-60 second video.
For real he doesn't even show a single second of gameplay and just listens to himself talk the whole time. Gives vague shitty surface level info. Waste of time
